Finally, the service was excellent: we wanted to catch the sunset at the Cornucopia Beach and they rushed an order of trout out to us so we could make it. Call it a social norm or just the right thing to do, we believe the use of a business's bathroom should be followed-up with a purchase. Even without that terrible "bathrooms are for paying customers" sign. We ordered iced teas to-go and started perusing their menu when we noticed all the wonderful choices and decided lunch come early today! The food was pretty good. Bathrooms clean. The biggest shame was that we had to leave and eat in the car with the dogs while we travel. The dining room was priceless. An incredible rustic feel, for sure. That cozy, down-home atmosphere that just makes you want to stay. To top it off, they have a monitor in the corner featuring a lighthouse cam. I'm guessing somewhere on Lake Michigan? I asked about dessert to go, and neither of the cheesecakes on the menu were available, but the server said they had some chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, which wasn't listed anywhere. I got that and had a few bites before putting it in the fridge - it was ok, but nothing special (5/10). I'm not sure I'll even finish it, and that's saying something because cheesecake is my favorite dessert. Ambiance was dark and kind of dingy. Things needed to be dusted and wiped down. It felt like there was a sticky layer of grease on them (chairs, columns, table edges, etc.).
