I was their most faithful visitor, until sadly the adult world hit. And sadly that means that I no longer have the free time to sit down to thousands of pages a week. But man, oh man, does this library compel me to want to screw my responsibilities to spend the afternoon in the cool wonderland. The room is decorated for a blustery day, complete with kite and unnaturally bent books. There's a rainbow watching over the kids' section, with a teddy bear waiting at the table. The teens have a hand chair, because who doesn't want their butt held, and a display of legos. I was there for the computers, which offer a free hour of use to residents and ten cent prints. The associates are nice and helpful with any need you may present, even if it is sifting through the wall of dvds to find the perfect match. The cheapskate in me squeeled coming upon the book sale (10cent magazines, 50cent books and cds, and 1 dollar dvds) and the coupon table. Maybe I should come to the library more often after all.

The library has a big selection of audio books and a good selection of DVDs too. In the non-fiction section, they have signs to point out where each collection starts. They also have a big selection of large print, and a big collection of test prep books and some job resource books too. I really like the nice displays that they have within the library and in the hallway too! Lots of places to sit and work within the library too.

Aurora: I have…read morepassed by the Aurora Library so many times and never had the opportunity to stop in, until now. There are some parking spots in the lot. It is one way entrance on Main Street and then dumps you out on Whaley. This is a small library, but it wonderful. There were books for sale, and even a t-shirt sale happening with the Friends of Library group. It is a really cute shirt for $15, featuring an owl on a stack of books. The librarians were very friendly. They seemed to have some popular new releases. They also seem to have a ton of events there.

The second floor is a quiet floor and the library take that very seriously, which is helpful if you need to get some real work done. There's a plethora of databases and software on all of the computers. As well you can check out a laptop for 2 to 3 hours if need be; they offer PCs and Macs.

Only downfall is the hours open. This library is very family friendly. Half the selection is children books. Plenty of computers for browsing and seats available if you bring your own. There is a copier machine and printer available for additional cost. I mainly sift through the nonfiction area; the selection readily available is pretty decent. They're constantly getting new books in. I definitely recommend using their website to reserve books in advance. They send out emails once the book is ready for pick up. It's so convenient being able to get a book that's from another library. Why wouldn't you spend the few cents to save yourself the time and trouble?

I've been going to the Kenmore Library since I was an infant and I have loved it for as long as I…read morecan remember. Even though I haven't lived in Kenmore in nearly a decade, I still find myself visiting this library whenever I'm home seeing family. During my most recent visit, I actually stopped by twice to use the computers for some business I needed to take care of as I hadn't brought my laptop with me. While I still maintain my Buffalo & Erie County Public Library Card, I did not have it with me. Not too worry though as the librarians were so kind to set me up with a temporary/guest pass to use the computers. During previous visits I've used the glass rooms/study areas to really focus as they are a bit more private and definitely reduce noise (not that it's a noisy library). The book selection is decent and I'm honestly so impressed by the number and variety of classes, workshops, and programs this library hosts. It is such a hub for learning, creativity, and community!!! Five stars!!! Libraries are so magical and this one is especially near and dear to my heart :)

I wasn't super impressed with this location in terms of resources and staff knowledge. I came here…read morehoping to use a cd drive that after googling I knew they had. I approached the desk and asked the women where I could find one. They looked at me like I was crazy and said "we don't have that, I don't even know what that is" I opened their resource binder to show them that they did in fact have the cd drive. They followed it up by looking in their system and saying "well it's lost". They were not very friendly during this interaction and I'm disappointed with their lack of knowledge. This is a fine basic library if you want to hop on a computer quickly or checkout a book, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything more than that. Kind of disappointing because I've been to some great, helpful, friendly libraries and the Kenmore location fell short.

Although it's small, this library ticks most of the boxes for a successful community anchor (as…read morelibraries tend to be). Firstly, there are postings everywhere for community events, like a free concert in two days. Other signs announce free classes, as for crocheting. Secondly, the librarian on duty recognizes the patrons, and calls them by name. Many arrive for the free internet usage. (It's a Federal initiative, to make the Web available to everyone, regardless of income). Thirdly, there's lots of large print books, magazines, movies on CDs, and many large comfortable chairs. The children's books are in a separate room: Both rooms have lots of art. It's a small library, so the parking lot is small; hence a 30-minute parking limit.

Both the location and appearance of Buffalo's Central Terminal has been know to scare people, but…read moredon't succumb to that impulse - this place is totally worth visiting! When you walk around inside the terminal, more likely than not the sights and the feel of this place will start your mind wondering about what happened here when this place shut down... If you' not brave enough to exlporing inside, the lines and shape of the main building and the lovely clocks all around are reason enough by themselves to at least do a drive-by :-)

Come to think of it, this building seems just about haunted enough for that to be true. And if it were the Petal Terminal, well then it'd be a harmless Flower Market. Then again perhaps a Flower Market is a synonym for something gruesome. Hmm. Let me think on that one. I recently represented Yelp here at a booth, and that was really cool, to hang out inside it for a whole day. They really, really need some better Air Conditioning though! Lol. I guess the 1920s was pre-global-warming or something. I've been here many times. I've taken a self-guided tour (which I wasn't supposed to), I've taken an actual tour (which was free, because I know someone who knows someone), and I've even done a photo shoot here (for my first CD). I used to live about 10 minutes walk from this place. It hasn't changed much in all the time since I first saw it. Very run down. And yet it's so haunting and perfect that I love it. This is one of the most instantly recognizable buildings in the beautiful and remarkable old skyline of Buffalo. It towers above the East Side with its broken windows, it's massive haunting dark open shaft (minds out of the gutter), and its glowing clock faces. There have been concerts here, as well as ghost tours, but it remains largely in disrepair. Everyone and their mother is hoping that it never gets demolished, and is eventually restored. The sad thing is that once upon a time it was a truly great place, bustling and full of passengers heading to the other Central Terminal... Grand Central in NYC. The pictures of this place full of well-to-do Upstate New Yorkers getting on and off trains is very depressing. America has changed so much and not always for the better. It's one of my favourite places in Buffalo, and was featured in the booklet of my first CD for good reason. Let's make sure it never gets knocked down. In other news, my cat Harley just pooped all over my carpet. Scuse me while I kiss this guy. I mean clean the poop. Same thing really.

North Collins Library is small, very accessible (all on 1 floor no steps to get in) and a good…read morequiet place to work. There are a few tables, chairs, and couches throughout the library. There are also 8 adult PCs to work on and a few kid PCs. There's also a kids area and play space for them. The bookshelves are well labeled. The non-fiction collection is small but there's a larger fiction collection. There's a small but dedicated Young Adult section, including graphic novels and new books. There's a one room school house museum next door to the library that's open on Sundays, seasonally. There's also a pavilion beside the library too.
