We watched how the boat was cleaned before we got on and it was quick sprays and wipe downs. The steering wheel was not cleaned, disgusting. Thankfully we had anticipated the lack of cleaning and packed our own wipes and cleaning supplies. However, they need to step it up for the safety of their customers and staff. We would consider renting again as we are in the area frequently but hope that they will consider new practices and measures. Addition: being handed the life jackets with no additional cost is great. However, again watching the staff the jackets were not sanitized or cleaned after. Not cool.

Nonetheless, the guys didn't work with us at all to find a alternative solution and we didn't get out on the lake, nor did they once say they would be refunding us. Just all around bad service by the guys running that spot. Also...no booze and you can barely swim anywhere. If you ever visit here.. boat somewhere else.

We had a hard time finding a map that had the actual mileage of each trail. We decided to take the white pine trail to vista point and then back down the thunderbunny trail. We found way but the trail splits a lot and is unmarked at points. The trail is also not blazed. We stopped right after a rain so the lake had a beautiful fog covering it.

Parking: This location has plenty of parking lots…read moresurrounding the lake. Easy to access and seem moderately safe. I have never had an issue finding a spot. 5 stars. Water: I've never gotten in the water, so I can't judge this.. not a fan of lake water. Dam: Cool place to come for an easy outdoor walk to unwind and relax or to workout (many people run the steps up and down the dam). Everything here is free. Other: There is a frisbee golf course that people were actively using while I was there. There is a lot of easy hiking trails and scenery to enjoy. Conclusion: This is a good place to come with a family or friends. Get outside and have a picnic, go fishing, boating, take a hike, or play frisbee golf. It does get cold here in fall/winter as the wind comes off the lake, so wear a coat. I'm tired of the cold, debating running away to Mexico.

Prior to arriving I used the online…read morecontact information for the Marina office to inquire whether pets were allowed in the swim area and was told "yes"; however upon arriving there was a posted "no pets" sign. At that point I had my dogs in tow and could not leave them in the car (too hot) so I let the written confirmation from the office staff supersede the signage and took them onto the sand. It was not very crowded and so we were able to unobtrusively occupy a little corner and not bother / interact with other beach goers. None of them seemed to mind our presence. The beach itself is super duper pleasant! Loved our day there. Just wish it were easier to know how to follow the rules!

I was telling Trinity how much we love Maumee state park and will be sad to miss it those dates. I also mentioned that our past experiences were so wonderful at Maumee that every time I go to book a state park close to home it's hard not to gravitate towards what we know and love. Anyway, Trinitys enthusiasm about Salt Fork Park is catching and that will be the next one we visit in July. She told me about all the different types of stays available... the one with a jacuzzi sounds amazing.. :) Anyway, thank you Trinity and I believe that Seth should certainly send you to each park so you can sell them effectively, as you know what you are doing! They were NOT. Same thing happened a few years! Found out the smell is from the air conditioning unit drain that backed up and soaked the carpet! We spent 22 consecutive years here and never had these issues. We will NOT come back!!!

When you see a historical marker in the middle of nowhere, you stop. Well, I do. I was headed…read moresomewhere else, and saw this. It was beside a big mound, which surprised me, but it turned out to actually be the reservoir wall. The marker commemorates a blockhouse that was built in the middle of nowhere even then, for not much of anything. And then didn't end up serving any purpose. Read the marker pictures for a better description. Still, nice that they commemorated it. The reservoir is midsize, has a car parking lot down below, trailer parking lot above, and a small boat ramp area. Good place to walk the dog, go for a walk yourself, enjoy the breeze, and, I'm sure, go on the water, although I did not.
