First time visiting any KOA campground. Typically we do Lake Livingston State park, but this was a nice switch up. This review is mostly about the KOA, but I will use the state park as a comparison. First I should say, the staff at the KOA are very pleasant, not that the State Park isn't, but everyone at the KOA was helpful, waving, driving around checking on you. They take very good care of the campground as well. The bathrooms and showers were the cleanest of any campground I have ever been too, especially compared to the state park. I also would see the maintenance team cleaning up sites and shoveling out fire pits. We stayed in a tent site, and one of my gripes would be, that the sites are pretty small. It would be difficult to get two decent size tents on once site, without being right next to the fire pit at least. Compared to a state park site where you have a ton of space, this was kind of a bummer. The way it sits now, there is a large open green space across from the campsites, which did allow for more room to run around and explore, but this area is marked as future development. Once this place builds the remaining sites, I think the loss of the bonus space will likely turn us away. The only other issue I had with the place was the locations of the bathrooms. Staying in the tent site, it is quite the walk to either of the bathrooms, especially with kids at night and such. The exercise is great and all, but when you have to walk a kid that far to the bathroom at 2 AM, it gets kind of old. The pool was very nice, clean, albeit cold due to the time of year, but I am sure it would be very nice in the summer. Its mostly shallow, 3 feet on both ends, 4 in the middle, and a large shallow area for little kids. The hot tub is also a nice addition. The beach area is about what I would expect from a lakeside beach, but don't expect is to be like an ocean beach. The water off the beach was nice and clean, sandy, few rocks, and no sea weed. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves, and met some very nice people, and that really made the trip worth it for us. Like I said, if the green space wasn't there, it would have been a bit of a bummer, but it was a very nice as it is right now. read more

The management of this site is not black-friendly, mixed-race friendly, or Asian-friendly from our observations. The manager spent a lot of her time riding around on her cart trying to tell us we had too many people parked at our cabins, even though they had all checked in up front. Then when our AC wasn't working well she was very rude and condescending to our family, told the one white family member "well you're the one white guy here and you're acting like THIS?!" during an argument about getting the AC fixed. We asked what she meant by that, and she got louder and said it was ridiculous to accuse her of racism. Next, the manager overcharged my sister in law for the family who stayed in tents on the property behind her cabin. While rectifying the additional charges, she referred to the family who had stayed in the tents as "the Asians." My sister in law told her we didn't need to know the race or nationality of who stayed behind us. We just expected more from the management of a place where people spend their hard-earned money to relax for the weekend. read more

Every Day is a New Day at KOA... there is no consistency at this place. We have been patronizing this establishment for 10plus years. We draw the line at the employees driving the property taking photos and videos of the guests on the property, and trust me they aren't for social media post, we asked. They have "changed management" 3 times in 2 years. Find a different campground. KOA as an overall as a whole is amazing. Lake Livingston KOA is a joke. read more

Liked the campground, right up until I fell on their boat ramp and broke my wrist. Management did not care that I was injured, which required surgery. They never once contacted me to see how I was doing. They told my husband they would refund the nights we were unable to stay...BUT THAT NEVER HAPPENED. I reached out to the campground once I was healed. They OFFERED to reimburse my out-of-pocket medical expenses. All I had to do was send in the invoices. I emailed the invoices to Jay Cooke and NEVER HEARD ANOTHER WORD FROM HIM OR THE OTHER MANAGEMENT! I also contacted KOA Corporate to file a complaint. Onalaska KOA did not respond to Corporate's email either. It's a shame, it's a nice campground. THE MANAGEMENT ARE LIARS AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CAMPERS, ONLY THE RENTAL FEES THEY COLLECT. read more

My family and spent years looking for the perfect place on Lake Livingston to park our RV to use on weekends, As soon as we pulled into Lakeside RV Resort we knew it was for us! Every spot has a great view of the lake, The BEST boat launch on lake Livingston, Plenty of boat slips so ya don't have to pull your boat out every time you come to shore. The CLEANEST Bath-Houses ever! (I prefer to use the there bath-houses MORE than our own bathroom!) Very helpful staff! There is a little beach for the kids to play! Nice pool and hot tub, There is even a full service bar & grill on site! I love that it is located on a part of the lake where there are NO stumps, so No worries when taking the kids tubing or skiing. Pet friendly! And they even have activities for the kids AND adults every weekend! You can't go wrong with Lakeside! read more

The bathrooms are filthy. I went to all of the public restrooms looking for a clean one. Most of them had leftovers in the toilets. Mosquitoes and bugs were flying around. The health department should be called. The manager takes your picture as well as a picture of your car without asking. There was a dead fish on a heavy line tied to the fishing pier with a bottle cap in its mouth. The game warden was called. No one had fishing permits. No one admitted to killing that fish. Campers were rude and drunk by the pool. Children were unsupervised asking strangers to play with them. The " beach" is terrible with fish on it. Dog poop was on the grassy knoll by the beach. So watch where you walk. The roped off swimming area has submerged/ hidden cement block in the shallow end where you trip and injure yourself. Health department should be called. read more

08/08/21 Wow, where to begin. Like others we've come to this KOA numerous times beginning in 2018. Never once had a problem. We booked a two week stay and arrived this date. Upon entering we and two others that walked in before us, were immediately confronted by a teenage to early twenties female staffer in obvious distress over the fact that no one was "masked." She began grouping around for masks (apparently supplied by this establishment), and demanded that we put a mask on. The first two individuals complied. However, being somewhat tired from driving all day it agitated me that this establishment was going take $600.00 + outta my wallet, then turn around and tell me that I have to abide by some unproven ideology that "masks" are the answer??? Please! Anyway long story short, save your money, stop staying at THIS KOA. I've been a KOA member since 2018, NOT ONE has been as disappointing as this one has become. They've got management and employee issues that quite frankly are gonna ruin this establishment. Yes it's a private business and they can do as they please. But they also should bear in mind the adage, GET WOKE, GO BROKE. Never again will we stay here. JK P.S. I guess it was a blessing in disguise. Found North Shore RV Resort one mile east on 190. This year was our 3rd year to celebrate my birthday at the KOA. All of my family and friends came, rented spots and played on the lake. This year was totally different!!! We all had a problem with the new management!!! One of the ladies drove her golf cart around or walked her dogs by all the camp sites to in force the rules, which I understand. The way she went about it was total wrong!! She would tell whoever was outside about any problems she had about our cramp site. Not one time did she directly tell me or my husband what rule we were breaking. When she did talk to someone she was very rude and was ready to argue, I feel like she enjoyed the conflict. She was proud that other campers called her Miss B and wrote bad reviews about her. She took pics and videos of campers which was very uncomfortable and weird. I did go to the office and talk with her and she was happy to talk about all the bad behavior that was going on between us and other campers. Not one time did she try to solve the issue, she was only willing to hassle us unto the end of our stay( we stayed 8 nights) we rented three pull through sites and was thinking we could park whatever we wanted on our driveway. We had three boats, two jet skis and six vehicles. We parked all of the water vehicles at the boat ramp but one. Our one boat is a 2019 bass boat with a lot of bells and whistles, so we didn't feel comfortable leaving it that far away from our camp site. They don't have security most days of our stay, only Friday and Saturday. We moved our boat down to the parking lot with our truck and was fined without notice because she never talked directly to us. She talked to our friends that was visiting and bragged that her nickname was Miss B. We did find another boat parked at their camp site for 6 nights, 300.00 for those days parked but I'm sure she didn't in force the rules. Miss B didn't notice or care that the teenage campers were drinking alcohol on the playground. We will NOT be back and it's sad because they have really clean restrooms and showers. The pool and beach area is nice for the kids and my dogs. If you're planning to stay at the KOA in Livingston be aware that the management is argumentative and hard to deal with!!! read more

I've stayed at this park twice, the first time for 3 months and now for about a year. This is a quiet park with a gorgeous view of the lake. There are several spots filled year round by construction workers and full timers. The workers are quiet and easy going. Same as the full timers. Maintenance is pretty standard for an RV park. They mow and trim at least once a week but not on Friday or Saturday. They've good control of the fire ants as they are few and far between. Amenities are few. The office/store is tiny. A few sundries in the "store", basically a few shelves against the back of the check-in aisle (yes, it is a check-in aisle but hey, you aren't staying in the office). If you need much more than shampoo and candy bars, you may not find it in the "store". There is an attached restaurant/bar but I'm not reviewing it here. There are plenty of showers/bathrooms in two buildings, 10 I think for the park. One laundry area that has 4 washers and 4 dryers. The bathrooms/showers are roomy and very clean. There is a nice pool, a hot tub and a pretty good sized beach area on the lake. No bathrooms near these areas so they have porta potties nearby. Yes that's a little odd. There is a small dog run area. Overall it is a nice relaxing park, good for kids too. I recommend it. read more

My family and I have went here the last two Easter weekends. We had a blast. The pool is well kept and clean. The showers are clean. Everything is great. We actually rented a boat from the man that rents them and he was very helpful, down to earth, and awesome. We rented the boat (very nice ski boat) for 3 hours: only 80 bucks per hour. Well worth the price because our fun was PRICELESS! We will be back and can't wait to spend more holidays here. Editing to add: the only disappointment we had was the store had no pump to air up our tube. Being a place that people bring their boats and go on the water.. you should really have a pump to blow up tubes or floats. read more

We have loved going to KOA in LIvingston, we always have a few families go and we spend time fishing, boating, hanging out at the beach and camp site. The kids were allowed to drive a golf cart or side by side, parking our boat at our camp site because we had a large site out of the way of traffic, never any problems. This time the manager is making everyone list every person at their site by name, every license plate, charging exta for a second vehicle (when their papers say two different things about vehicles). She started off by saying we need license plate information in case your vehicile is towed because it is blocking others or parked where it shouldn't be, or damaging others property. Well, I have to say, that is all negative, instead spinning it as we are just looking out for your property incase something happens we will know where to find you so that you have a pleasant experience, instead telling you what will happen if you break the rules or cause damage. NO customer service experience, there. Then at my site before knowing we could not park our boat and truck at our campsite on the grass (because remember it has always been allowed- grass looks fine to me- no change after her first two week managing), one of the employee knocked on my camper to tell me I had to move my boat and truck and park on the gravel areas only. I said , we have always parked here, he said not anymore must be on gravel, I said, there is a boat parked on the grass by the gravel area, the man said, "well parking there is ok." What? that grass is okay? The grassy area to the left of our camper must be okay grass too, beause boats were parked their too, it wasn't gravel. The manager and her staff were taking pictures of children and talking to the children about driving the side by side, not that they were driving fast, just that they were not licensed drivers. Did not speak to the parent first, spoke to child and gave the child the notice, the parent and our group happed to see her stopped talking his daughter and went over there to see what was going on. - Don't even give the child a paper, ask where is your parent? Then has the audacity to stop and ask one of my guest who is 18 to see her drivers license when she pulled up as they were leaving and circled back to harrass her, waited until she showed proof of her drivers license, when my husband already said everyone listed at my camp site was licensed drivers. The notice that was given to the little girl had my name on it, I am not her parent and if we all have to list our names on a piece of paper then they should have had her parents name listed and not mine just because I reserved the site last year. The person checking in to that site, should have their information listed. You should not have the right to take pictures of children period, and you should definitely not pull up a random picture of a child and tell a parent I have a picture of your child driving and it not even be their child, how irresponsible. Someone needs to pull back the reins on that manager, she is running customers off. She made it her duty to harrass guest this weekend. When they learn to be more customer friendly, I'll go back, otherwise you can keep your Nazi manager and all her BS. PS... Why are you flying a drone after dark peeping on guest or what? We park our camper at KOA Onalaska all summer. We have for a few years now. I no longer recommend this place. We pay $575 a month just to park it there and we also pay utilities. Now they randomly are charging $25 per vehicle after 1 vehicle and 1 water craft. If we don't pay, they tow us. They say parking is limited but they have parking THAT SHOWS OVERFLOW PARKING ON THE MAP closed and threatened to tow if parked there. We have been inundated with spiders Inside and outside of our camper since parking here at the beginning of June. The restaurant is absolutely disgusting which I know probably is it's own entity but don't expect to get out of the water and run in for a good meal. You will leave utterly disappointed with a real fun case of mud butt. Time to buy a lot. read more

We checked in after hours which worked well. There were maps to three varied RV sites that were available (though more than that were empty). We picked one that was closer to the lake and the bathrooms. The spots all had full hook ups, a table, and a fire pit. They were fair size spots. There was nice green grass, and a few nice pine trees. The bathrooms were single stall with shower, toilet and sink, and they were sparkling clean. There was a handicapped accessible full bathroom as well. There was a nice play area including a playground, basketball hoop, horse shoe pit, and tetherball pole. We brought our dogs and so were happy to use the fully gated dog run. There is a store on the premises, but along with other reviewers I was very disappointed. I understand not being a Walmart, but I was looking for milk or coffee creamer (for sale), and they carried neither. She offered the use of their creamer, which was a generic plain creamer (not even coffeemate). I suppose creamer might be a luxury, but how do you not sell milk? There was a restaurant/bar on site, which we didn't get a chance to use this trip. If we come back we will try to rent a cabin. One problem with the campsites is that they are awfully close to the highway. It was very distracting from our relaxing around the camp fire. We are definitely glad we went and will likely come again. Note: Store opens at 9am, not 8am. read more

First time to visit this KOA and we have a very nice time. The grounds are nicely maintained and the views of the lake are great. Front office staff and maintenance crew are very friendly and responsive. We had a problem with the electrical hookup and they quickly repaired it. We were provided with a list of local eateries to visit and some of them deliver to the park. We would visit again! read more

Insted of mowing during the week the trimmed on Saturday. Stickers were horrible and the weeds were a foot high. Angain they should know that people have dogs and like to at times walk barefooted. We stayed here over the weekend, and really like the park. The grounds are well maintained, the restrooms clean, the staff friendly and the rates reasonable. It is super convenient to Hwy 190, but the road noise didn't seem to be a problem. The park is, overall, very quiet. We did do some fishing around the boat slips and out on the peninsula. They need to do some maintenance along the bulkhead as there are many, many areas where there are deep sink holes that could cause injury if you weren't watching where you were walking. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that their "country store" is pretty minimal. read more

Please beware of the new management at this campground!! Last October 2016, we reserved their community facility and cabins for a family reunion (about 100 people). When they took over they informed my Aunt, who made and paid for the reservation that they were doubling the cost originally agreed upon and reserved a year ago ... She told them she would pay it because it was too late to find another venue but thought they should honor the original agreement with the previous management. So she told them while she would pay the additional charge although she wasn't pleased about it. So then she wrote an honest and accurate review on their website ... within 20 minutes the new manager called her and was horribly rude and cancelled our reservations because they did not like the negative review. The man on the speaker phone was so belligerent and horribly rude! the next day via registered mail our money was returned with word we were not welcome on the property. So very sad that new management can treat people this way!! We will be contacting the owners as well as speaking to an attorney. read more

We are not normally fans of KOA's. The stay at Lakeside was not bad. They do have areas that need attention and it shows. But to us, 3 things that can make any park seem better it to be..Safe..Clean and Friendly Staff/Managers. They were great at all 3. The showers were clean each time we used them (and they did get a lot of traffic in there). Place was clean and we felt safe with the kids playing outside. They main issues they need is general upkeep. We would return if in the area. read more
