It is my first adventure outdoors since the polar vortex settled for three days with -50 below wind chills, and the brightly colored Pendleton blankets tucked inside a cabinet are tempting. The Juniper incense provides a blanket of warmth for the senses--what a wonderful welcome on a winter's day. My friend, a practicing shaman, has a birthday coming up and I buy the incense ($5/20 bricks) from Santa Fe for her, along with a Juniper smudge stick ($5). Katy displays jewelry so it easy to view the pendants and earrings and bracelets...too lovely. She also has stunning vintage silver and turquoise pieces, as well as simple traditional ghost beads. The silver and coral jewelry catches my eye. Ojibwe woven baskets will make a nice gift. Katy is always friendly and encourages customers to take their time and appreciate what she offers. It is easy to move around in the store. Everything is in display cases or shelves on the wall--and just enough, not overwhelming, definitely not gathering dust, and no narrow aisles. Her little dog is sweet and lucky dog has a beautiful turquoise on his collar. She keeps recent issues of Native American newspapers by the door for $2.00. What a gift this independent business owner has created on Monroe Street. I'll be back for a blanket.

Every corner felt thoughtfully curated, and I loved just wandering and taking it all in. I used to really love this place. I've been here many many many times, even as a kid. At one time,…read moreit had two floors filled to the brim with quality MCM furniture and items with reasonable prices. Unfortunately, the last time I came here, it was pretty disappointing. They closed the top floor so it's now pretty limited and the "reasonable prices" have certainly fallen off. The woman at the front desk seemed less than thrilled that I was there and seemed rather annoyed at me and my friend. I bought an item for $18. She rang it up, after fees, it came out to $19.47. She then told me that "I better go find another item" because there's a $20 minimum for credit card purchases. Really? She couldn't make an exception for the $.53 I was off by? I told her to just add the difference and charge my credit card an even $20. She then proceeded to charge me $21.10 for some reason. Glad you got $3 and evaded the $.03 credit card fee but you lost a customer for life. Sigh.

The mall was accessible for wheelchairs for entrances and getting to the second floor with an easily accessed elevator. But the aisles and the space within the booths can be pretty narrow. Making accessibility kinda hard in certain areas. I was a tad nervous just walking in certain tight spaces. This place was a mix of vintage items, Victorian era, limited primitive selection. Upstairs has a great MCM glass vendor. Also a large section for vintage clothing. We were given a low down from the guys at Watertown that some of the vendors from Odana went to Waterloo. Which makes sense. The first floor side room screams Odana vendors, especially the prices.
