I only sell items that are nickel free. Do you honestly know of anyone who buys jewelry with nickel in it these days?" Well, yes I do. Nickel free is still the exception at larger stores and there's nowhere in her store that claims the jewelry is nickel free. I walked out quickly and will never be back.

These kinds of stores often have the type of jewelry I like--sterling silver, and with varying gemstones. Art Gecko has a lot of selection here, and they also have a stone of the week (when I was here, it was labradorite). Amber, garnet, ruby, peridot; you'll find it all here. So many rings, earrings, and pendants, and a really great range of sizes. I have big fingers, and there were a lot in my size. Many of the rings were also arranged in tray by size, so I could simply point to the size I wanted to look at rather than be disappointed that something I liked would barely fit my pinky. They also had some of the rings in trays by colors, and there was a tray just of labradorite ostensibly since it's the stone of the month. I didn't need to spend more money than I did. Having said that, I looked diligently to see if they had any bracelets, and their inventory was very very sparse there. I did see an amber bracelet, I think, and perhaps one or two more but not in a stone I liked. That's okay!

Lovely, little head shop with all kinds of "cosmic delights." I drifted through this store on a puff of incense smoke and surrendered myself to the fact that I was going to drop major dime on large amounts of eclectic items, and so it was my friends. Dude with a mohawk behind the counter was funny and chill. I'm pretty sure I want to buy everything in this store.

We saw it and loved it right away, and an employee quickly told us it was the last one. We are building a new home and thought it would be amazing in our foyer, so we bought it. We have purchased expensive furniture at numerous different stores around the Madison area and at one time we had some issues with an item we purchased in Madison. That store went ABOVE AND BEYOND, telling us they would do anything to make it right. Refund, store credit, sending a repair person to our home were all options they gave us. When we bought this table neither one of us recall anyone saying that the sale was final and there were no returns. However, it does say that in the small print on our receipt. To our shock, we learned the table was too long for the spot we intended it for and we have no other place for it. Due to the cost (almost $2,000.00) we reached out to the store to see if we could return it - and we even told them we would be happy with store credit so we could find another, smaller table. The person on the phone was rather short and to the point, telling us "There are no refunds or exchanges, we told you that when you bought it". When we tried to explain that nobody told us that, and we were willing to just get store credit so they would not lose out on a sale, they told us "You will have to talk to the OWNER" who was not there. So we asked for the owner to call us at her earliest convenience. My wife received a call from another employe who was NOT the owner, and she said "I'm sorry, but there is nothing we can do". WARNING: If you are looking for good customer service and a store that cares about their customers and will stand behind their products, I would suggest you DO NOT shop here. We have spent a lot of money at this store over the years and this was a major purchase. They did not seem to care if they lost a good customer and all future sales from us.

Too adorable for words, and from Johannesburg, S. Africa. Had to have them for a 2 year old in the family who loves her shoes. The shopkeepers are old school in a way: it's their shop and they have a personal connection to the gifts, very knowledgable about their provenance. The owners, who are originally from SA, know many of the artisans (and applicable history and cultural traditions) who created the weavings, wall hangings, beadwork, jewelry, etc. they sell.
