Their service is great and as stated by others their diagnoses are spot on. I have never paid for unnecessary service. In fact, I took my 1991 Mustang in because the rear tires were going low about 3 days after I would refill them with air. Bob, the owner was able to diagnose that the problem was with the seal between the tires and the rims. He simply separated them, cleaned up the rims and reassembled them. No more leaks! Another example is when I took my car to them for a loud exhaust. I had stopped at 2 big chain muffler shops for their free diagnosis as one had replaced the right side muffler, the other the left when I live away from the Lake Forest area. Both told me I needed a new exhaust manifold, a high $$$ repair. Jim, the service supervisor, and his staff were able to diagnose the real problem. It was a rusted out narrow pipe that returned exhaust gas back into the fuel injection system. Also, as stated before, their gas prices are a few cents more per gallon, but they reward loyal customers with their free car wash punch card. Ten fill-ups and you get a free wash. And it's not the basic was either. It's one of their full service washes.

And, of course, it exists in Lake Forest…read more Their gas prices are consistently higher than the national average or even the Chicago average, which is unfortunate because my gas light only seems to come on in Lake Forest. *shakes fist* They have two full service pumps (the ones nearest the storefront). There's no signage on those pumps, of course, and it lets you run through the entire self-serve process... so beware because otherwise you're going to pay 70 cents more per gallon. Thanks, BP.

In fact, this one had no line at all during our fill-up. It has 4 islands, with the 3 leftmost having 3 pumps (thus requiring parallel parking if the middle one is the only one open) while the far right only has 2. (22 nozzles in all). Price per gallon was $3.799 for 87, but 93 octane was $5.099 (a 33% markup)...super glad that our car was fine with 87. It's close enough to the Costco warehouse to notice how empty the parking lot felt on a Monday afternoon. This time, though, my wife didn't want to browse (probably because we would have to take it home by plane).

I came in and saw the "free vacuums" and wanted to quickly vacuum out my car before getting gas. I actually had zero intention of getting a car wash but after pulling up and spending about 20-30 min detailing my car with all the extras (all purpose cleaner and towels, scent, air gun, glass cleaner) and a vacuum that was the strongest suction I have ever seen, I felt guilty just using the freebies and decided to get a wash. Car wash is affordable and they have a monthly plan that also allows you to get your to 30 cents off / gallon of gas. The $10 monthly car wash pays for itself in gas if you fill up weekly. On top of all that, the car wash attendant came out when he saw me pull my mats out and offered to wash them for me unprompted. He even gave me a free towel. On top of that there is a very clean Dunkin inside the gas station and a "taco pros" that far exceeded my expectations for a gas station taco spot. Needless to say, I would drive the 15 min from my house weekly to stop here. Overall great experience.

What started as a wonderful experience ended in disappointment…read more This wash has a lot going for it: affordable memberships, a quick system that usually just requires your license plate, and small touches from employees like a smile, a cloth, water, or an air freshener. For the most part, it provides everything you need to keep your car clean inside and out. Unfortunately, my experience went downhill. The license plate reader failed on nearly every visit, causing repeated delays at the entrance. A helpful employee once provided me with a windshield sticker to fix the issue, but I explained I don't put stickers on my windshield for safety and aesthetic reasons. That understanding allowed me to keep coming back and even recommend the business to others. The problem began when a newer employee saw me use the sticker, printed and kept my receipt, and gave me the impression I was being checked up on as if I had done something wrong. When I asked why, I was told in so many words that my setup wasn't acceptable and that they would "verify" things. Instead of resolving my concern, it escalated into an uncomfortable argument. Calling to speak with a supervisor didn't help either. I was connected with another employee who, when asked if they were actually the supervisor, replied with "more or less." Overall, what had been a business I promoted and enjoyed has turned into one I can no longer recommend. Miscommunication, unprofessional handling, and the lack of respect for loyal customers overshadow the positives.

Other than that I like filling up my cars here. Shell gas stands for high quality gas, a top tier company that makes good gas for your cars. So I rather fill up at this location than the one that's across the street. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They pride themselves in customer service. Always very attentive especially when it's very busy. Usually during the early afternoon hours. They greet every person that walks in and out. I've become a regular and go out of their way to greet me personally. Which is why I keep on coming back time after time. The inside and outside are very clean. They always make sure the floor is nice and tidy clean. They have good specials on anything and everything that you need. From snacks to drinks and if you are feeling hungry they also have very good beef stew. For a cold day or a slurpee for a hot day. All in all I'll be coming back here. So dear fellow yelpers if you're in the area be sure to stop in for anything and everything you need to hit the road.
