Sadly I need to say what happened. I have two homes in crestline. Spent lots of money at this location always on it. Now the bad news this last go around I spent $ 1,200.00 on some major repairs on one of my homes. They are big on just buy this or that bring it back if you don't need it. Anyways I had 3-4 things to bring back. Turned into a big hassle and I had purchased them over a week while I was up there. They gave me cash on two smaller items. Would not give me back on two items cash said the register will only process them as gift cards " what the heck " I have major brain surgery during which I had a stroke. I over the years Lost more cards than I have used. They could not explain it to me on common sense level only that once the register does that they can't reverse it. I was not happy I mean we are talking about $ 76.00. They said they would go get the manager and of course the manager was busy. They need to tell people oh just bring it back for a refund oh by the way it might be in the form of a gift card which when the person loses it to bad. I am stopping down the hill the next week at Home Depot first such a shame I can't buy and support crestline businesses. The tab probably will be around $ 500.00 this next time. The Ace garden center used to be my happy place. I love to garden and have purchased many plants, soil, garden lights and pots there. But today they made it impossible to park in front or in back of the garden center. At 3pm I went to the garden center because I needed about 5-6 plants. I need to park close to load them in my car. But they had a food truck blocking the 3 front lanes and then cones blocking the 3 spots in the back. I asked if they were open and they said yes but suggested I park across the street. Well I am over 60 years old and carrying 5-6 plants across the street was not appealing to me. I would think they would leave parking open for shoppers. I am going to try the garden center in Rim tomorrow as I heard they cater to full time residents and they have convenient parking. It's a bummer that some businesses don't make it convenient to shop at their stores. read more

Attention to All customers!! This place is a fraud. Please do not buy chains or anything from them, they say it's family owned and they're there to help but i feel bad for the people who have to deal with them, i went to purchase car chains from them for 150 and the lady who helped said those are the right ones for you and went outside to put them on and they were the wrong size! Went back inside to exchange them and she insisted they were the right ones so i asked someone who puts them on to help and he confirmed they were the wrong ones and when i went back and talked to the manager she agreed on exchanging them then she went to the back and changed her mind telling me that her employee is saying i had the wrong picture!!?? How? And my car is outside and the tires are there?? Then they said because the ice is melting so they can't exchange it? Then they started giving a lecture about how to be dependent on yourself and not ask people to help you??? Who are these guys? Some other criminals who are trying to steal peoples money. These people are clearly a fraud!! so please do not purchase anything. Well stocked hardware store. Employees are nice and helpful. Got a couple paint samples mixed. They were very careful and checked each can and showed me before giving to me, which was great because one wasn't actually mixed properly so he fixed it. Great personalized service and prices are mountain style. Up in the mountains the stock is much different than down in the OC. Really gratifying to see that they stock what people need, instead of only standard hardware stores. We were replacing a main water line with PEX pipe (which is half the price up here) and the plumbing advice was excellent. We got just the right connections we needed. As a DIYer this was my first PEX experience, and Shark Bite works just like they say. What can you say besides five-stars. This place is great for all our mountain housing needs. Well, this place is more miss than hit. The electrical side is pretty devoid of the formerly well stocked electrical side, now they focus on trinkets and gadgets The hardware side, when I asked for a 4x8 sheet of plywood, I kid you not when she co tinier to ask me what I was asking for, after 11 times speaking loud and slow saying 4x8 sheet of plywood, half inch, Douglas fir, she still didn't know what plywood was. Mind you, she's the one selling it. I don't know what's wrong here, but wow, what guess I'll just go down the hill to Lowe's from now on. I patronize both sides of Lake Drive Hardware, and most of the people that work there are friendly and helpful, mostly on the South side of the street. I took my gardening needs elsewhere however because I started to dread dealing with this clerk on the gardening side named Nancy. She is so unpleasant and creepy to deal with. I've tried to greet her in a friendly tone many times and she is just flat out rude and made a number of off-color and snarky remarks and just obviously doesn't doesn't want to help me. Finally I was like, why deal with this anymore- I've spent a few thousand here and I don't need the negativity. This is located in the Mountain community of Crestline, Gregory and Arrowhead. The parking lot is very tight and limited. They are very well equipped with hardware supplies and most of their staff are very helpful. I did have two bad experience with one particular employee name Randy who was unhelpful. I asked him twice for assistance and he will blow you off and when he does finally decide to help you he is sarcastic, rude and very demeaning. Cause of his poor customer service and terrible experience I rate this place low. Have him sweep the front and clean the windows.. Not help people. read more

Having lived in this area for over 30 years, my husband and I always try to patronize local businesses. Today we had a very irritating situation take place at Lake Drive Hardware that could have easily been remedied with a simple apology and a replacement of a $6.99 paint sample that had been mis-tinted (well, actually it was cockpit error because they forgot to shake the paint after tinting it) by the person in their paint department. Instead, it has elevated to this less than stellar review. We went into the store this morning and purchased the sample, had it tinted and mixed, and drove home. Upon opening the can I noticed the color seemed much lighter than the color on the color card but thought perhaps it would dry darker. When I poured the paint into the tray I immediately knew what they had done as it became obvious the paint had not been fully shaken. My husband returned the sample and requested a new sample be remixed which they refused to do. The manager actually said it was the CUSTOMER'S responsibility to check that the paint department had properly shaken the paint BEFORE leaving the store! In my entire adult life I have never checked to be sure when paint is tinted that it is also shaken properly...never. I'm pretty sure everyone knows that paint must be mixed once the tint is added to the base, and if they don't know that, then they certainly should not be working in the paint department. My husband tried to explain that simply re-shacking the paint at this point was not going to solve the issue because half the tint was sitting in the paint tray at our home...apparently that is not their problem. Although we will most likely go back to Lake Drive Hardware for supplies, because they are local and the next closest hardware store to us is almost 20 miles away, we would NEVER recommend or use Lake Drive Hardware for paint. read more

I contacted lake drive hardware for some help picking out chainsaws for our woodshop program. I spoke with Krystal and she did some research for us to help pick the best saw for our needs. Ended up getting two different size one for carving and one for heavier-duty work. She put a whole package together and threw in some extras on the size and some Stihl swag for the students. Mario went over adding fluids and basic maintenance. Then both Krystal and Mario went over the operation and safety for the saws. I bought a portable heater here. It broke in 6 weeks. It was during the holidays and the receipt was lost. I had my statement showing I made a purchase for that exact amount on that day. OUTSTANDING customer service. Recently hubby bought some paint a few days before the sale ad come out. I called ACE and spoke to a Manager named DJ. I asked if they comp customers within a certain amount of days if they purchased paint at full price (we purchased 2 of the gallon paints) and it goes on sale a few days later. DJ stated he would have to get back with me, took my number and said he would have to call me back. Dj called back within 24 hours and stated YES Ace would comp us the difference between the regular price and sale price. The process was a smooth one and we got no hassle while doing so.
