What a great library! I believe it has been in it's new location since October of 2012. I took the…read moreboys for the first time a few months back and we've been going at least 3 times a months since then. The exterior of the building looks great as it should since it's new! The interior is wonderful...lot's of room and the library does not waste any of it. They have community meeting rooms, quiet room(s), an internet cafe room, independant study rooms, children's section room(s), teenage section room, and even a game system room...and plenty of computers in each section (adult, teenage, and children) of the library. I know, Wow! I'm certain that I am forgetting one or two other rooms. The library also has wi-fi throughout the building, no issues logging on. My boys love the children's section of the library. They have computers with specific software/programs for children, puzzles, legos, and nice section to sit and read. Great view of DT Crown Point from this part of the library as well. The library also hosts a number of great events for children of all ages and even adults, I know I'm looking forward to seeing Astronaut, Jerry Ross next month. The staff has also been very kind and helpful each time I've asked a question or for help. Last note...the Crown Point and Winfield libraries operate seperately from the Lake County branch libraries.

I rented Grapes of Wrath from this library and when i turned it back in there was supposedly water…read moredamage and they made me pay for it. I don't mind but they took this American classic off the shelves and out of circulation. There is now 1 copy in a 9 library system. There's is not a library in this country that should not have this book on the shelves. It's now in my personal collection and its perfectly readable and not in bad shape for a paperback book that looks like it was printed in 2006. Maybe I shouldn't expect the values to be different for a library system that felt it appropriate to put life sized cardboard cut outs of Donald trump inside of it a couple of summers ago

It has so much to offer, I'd choose the C(rete)PL over C(hicago)PL any day of the week. Free and fast wifi, plenty of outlets, friendly staff, plenty of parking, a new/modern building (with a robust air conditioning system), and of course, many and varied volumes for those who like absorb the written word the old-fashioned way. I've been a patron of the Crete Library for decades, and I can also attest to the quality (and fun factor) of their children's reading program. Your humble author would like to formally and publicly thank the fine librarians, past and present, of fostering my love of readin' and writin' without which this post would be much more muddled.
