    1) Free 2) Free Parking…read more 3) Free sodas and water and coffee The cruise was easy to get to and excellent. I have never had an opportunity to go on the waterway and found out about it on Reddit. I happened to get the last two spots for one of the last tours of the year and it was easy. My kid had a great time and I did too. Learned a lot and the sailing was smooth!

I went with 7 friends, you enter at Gate 8 off of Clinton Drive, just tell the security guard you are there for the tour. There is a nice plaza to wait at right next to the boats. The parking lot is safe; let's face it, the only folks getting in have to pass security! A bit before 10 am one of the employees came out to check everyone in and handed out bottles of cold water which was great as it was almost 90 degrees outside in full sunlight. We boarded and were asked to sit inside while they got underway. One of the shipmates gave a safety talk and then we were free to go outside. The boat moves along at a pretty good pace, every now and then it slows for tug boat traffic. You get to see the industries that are along the ship channel. There are lots of big ships and also small ones. Some are loading or unloading, others are being repaired or a clean coat of paint. The shipmates serve coffee for the adults on the way and after turning around after about 45 minutes they offer cold water and soft drinks. There are so many photo opportunities so take lots of pictures. You are asked to go inside while they secure to the dock, the air conditioning feels great. Then you are on your way. The entire crew was so nice, they were helpful and friendly and could answer questions. Please, if you plan to take children, keep them under control. While not dangerous, there are things to watch for so you don't trip and the doors for the cabin are very heavy and hard to open and shut quickly so a child could easily get hurt. I took a mix of infrared and visible spectrums photographs

It was clean, amazingly fun to see all the spaces. If you have a baby you'll want to baby wear them. Strollers can't go below deck because it's stairs. We took kids 2+ years old and it was possible and functional for them. Some of the stairs are tight or small spaces but you don't have to take the smallest stair you can take one main stair down and then back up. The crew were so kind and helpful! The atmosphere was light and jolly. We have a delightful time. There is a bathroom in their gift shop and benches by the gift shop for anyone who needs to sit. There is also parking just there near it, paid is what we used, not sure about unpaid. Worth every penny!

While visiting Galveston I decided to take this harbor tour for the first time thinking it would be…read moreinteresting and it was. An adult ticket for the one hour boat tour is $17 and you can add another tour of the adjacent sailing ship Elissa for another $8 to make it a combo price of $25 total. Tickets can be purchased online or at the ticket booth at Pier 22 between Fisherman's Wharf restaurant and Willie G's restaurant. This tour is conducted on a 50' boat with twin inboard motors. The boat has a lower deck that is covered with open sides and another deck upstairs that is open air and provides the best seats for viewing as long as the weather is good. All seats are general admission so if you want a topside seat board early. The tour makes one loop of the inner harbor along with venturing just outside near the shipping channel and on the other side of Pelican Island. There you pass by the Naval Museum that includes a destroyer escort and submarine from WW II both on land and a little further you will see the remains of the old SS Selma freighter that was scuttled there. It was a ship that was built of concrete during WW I and then scuttled shortly thereafter. For some reason, my tour only got with about 250 yards of it and no closer. Also during the boat ride you will numerous dolphins that are native to the area. There are other tours advertised as dolphin watching tours and I'm not sure how they are different from this one because my tour saw many on our ride. An added treat was being able to cruise by Battleship Texas which is currently in dry dock on the other side of the harbor and fully exposed from the stern for great viewing. The tour returned on time. The only reason I don't give 4 stars is because we should have gotten closer to the Selma for viewing and pictures and the audio speakers topside were very weak and made it hard to hear the live narration of the sites we saw passing by. If you visit the island and want to get out on the water and see the sights this is a good diversion to consider.

Major Tip: Do NOT go full speed towards the end of the lake which is towards the south. There is a dam and I was going full speed and almost fell in it. Be careful! There should be those white little things that stick out of the water right before the dam appears , that's the sign that you're close to the dam. Also, If you were born after September 1983, you will need a Boat Safety course that can be taken free at boatus.org. You only need this if you will be driving. If you are a passenger you do not need it.

AAA Watersports…read more Maybe this place is hit and miss. There were families there who seemed to be enjoying themselves and then there was our experience... Took a few of my close acquaintances out last weekend on the Pontoon boat the company offers and here's a recap of our overall adventure. Warning: The website may be a bit misleading. It took (4) phone calls over the course of two days for them to pick up and answer. I booked out more than 3 weeks in advance. The guy who answered (Troy) said that it was CASH ONLY and gave me 3 time slots. He never asked for my name, phone number or email for any type of confirmation or record. I had to offer it to him. The website indicates that the boat capacity is 10, but Troy confirmed 13 on the phone. Also, prior to calling, I submitted a web inquiry on their website for the boat rental and never heard back. For three days leading up to our scheduled date, I called to confirm and no one ever answered. I called again the day of, 2 hours before our scheduled arrival and confirmed our reservation with Troy. We were all good to go! An hour later I received a missed call from the company, but no one left a message. I called back and you guessed it - no answer. Tried it again a few minutes later and unbelievable... this guy tells me that the boat is delayed TWO hours. I booked a 4-hr rental, driven 1.5 hours to get there, and only 30 minutes prior does he provide this hiccup. Unreal! FYI - the 4hr. rental is $350. So I told him we would reduce the rental time to 2hrs and negotiated a lower rate. Okay, so my crew and I found some things to do in lovely Atascasita until our new appointed time of 2 PM. This place is located in Huffman and you will drive down what feels like some back woods to get there. There's a rather long driveway leading out to the deck and trailers and sheds on either side. The business operates out of one of the trailers. The initial appearance is where the website images and overall feel become a little Catfish-esque. Also - there is a Porter Potty in case you need to release. After loading our boat, we quickly realized that the 13 Max Capacity was a bit far fetched. I would say 9-10 is more accommodating. We brought on 12 including three small children. Now maybe I am a girly-girl, but this pontoon boat was far from sanitary. The kids had to wear life jackets for the duration of the tour and the one's located on the boat were not acceptable. Fortunately, James, our driver found some spares. Maybe in the trailer??? Now, keep in mind we were supposed to leave at 12, then 2, and finally after 3, we took off. At this point things started to pick up. We went to the Rope Swing where you can jump off a tree with rope into the Lake. A few folks from our crew enjoyed that experience. Then we went to the beach, turned up the music, and chilled. Good times! The actual pontoon boat experience was cool and made up for the rough start. But would I come back? Probably not.
