I can't believe I've lived in Richmond for almost 3 years and I it took me this long to get to…read moreShindigz. A friend and I stopped in today to have some sweet treats and wow we were both amazed with this place. Not only does it offer amazing and delicious baked goods, but it also has hot food, alcoholic beverages, along with a lot of cute items for sale. It was painful to stand in line to place my order because once I thought I had figured out what I wanted, I saw something else that looked equally delicious. I ended up with a slice of salted chocolate caramel cake, which came with extra salted caramel, and it was delicious! I couldn't eat it all so it was nice to have the rest of the piece later at home. My friend got one of the Shindigz cookies and raved about it. She said it was one of the best cookies she's ever had. They have indoor and outdoor seating and as today was a nice day, we sat outside in a little garden area that had fountains and was very nice. If you have a sweet tooth and a hankering for something delicious, Shindigz is the place to go!

You walk in and can order small bites, cocktails, or coffee drinks at the camper right in front, then you can peruse their various gift options, and then you get to the dessert counter where you'll see their giant cakes, pies, and other offerings. Or, you can skip right to the dessert options! I have yet to have a bad dessert here, but favorite include their Oreo mocha pie, any version of Oreo cake, cannoli, and their homemade Oreos. Service is always warm and friendly, and there are lots of tables to sit inside or outside in their garden area! A Richmond staple and for good reason!

So driving through the small town of Bowling Green, I spot a food truck with a huge red ice cream cone on it! Screeeech! Yep! I brake and park next to this cool truck, brightly painted and ready to roll! The red and white trailer definitely caught my eye and the enclosed patio looked so inviting! My sis and I got the kiddie cone with a twist of chocolate and vanilla with chocolate sprinkles! The ice cream was thick and creamy, flavorful, and refreshing! Just about everything you'd want in a soft serve treat! I did think the skimped a little in the sprinkles... c'mon, load those babies up! I like mine covered in those crunchy, delicious chocolate bits! The service was quick and personable. The prices were certainly reasonable. We came on a hot (almost) summer day in June, in the afternoon, but the place wasn't too busy. I hope the locals support this ice cream shop so it stays in business and thrives!! It's open from noon to 9:00! Great hours for summer time! In addition to soft serve, Gibson's offers sundaes, floats, milkshakes, banana splits and other tasty treats! We sat outside on one of the umbrella covered picnic tables which offered us some cool shade on this 85 degree day! These crunchy cones filled with yummy soft serve ice cream hit the spot! Anytime I'm passing through Bowling Green, I will make it a point to stop at this cute, local business! I hope you do too! Their slogan is "Ice Cream Makes You Happy!" and this conehead couldn't agree more!

I have met the owners and they are nothing short of delightful! Katie and Tyler run a tight ship and have established Gibson's as a pillar of the community. Transforming an old service station into the soft serve sensation was a brilliant plan and my favorite place to frequent since they opened up. If you haven't been, I highly reccomend stopping by and indulging yourself in a sweet treat. Can't wait for opening day in the spring!!

They offer local drinks, preserves, jams, desserts of all sorts, and homemade sauces. Honestly, it was really hard to choose something to try. The owners spent a few minutes with us goin over their menu and everything looked SO good. We settled on the Strawberry Shortcake and the owner's own concoction the Nutty Professor. The short cake was ALL homemade (the sauce, whipped cream, and sponge cake). The cake was very light and refreshing and not too sweet. This was HANDS down the best Strawberry shortcake I've ever had. We ate the entire thing in the car. The nutty professor is very unique and SO good. It's very rich but is a cross between a peanut cup and a snickers combined. It's very good but only take a couple of bites at a time We will definitely be back if we are ever in the area. A must try if you're local or visiting!
