You can tell these ladies are very passionate about their jobs, working with children. Besides the great staff, this preschool has a huge play yard filled with many play structures. There are multiple classrooms, which are very organized and well put together. This preschool provides a very positive learning environment for children and is definitely worth checking out.

She was so rude and started using profanity towards him. When I called to try to find out what the problem was she started cursing me out. I was very shocked by her behavior. I had never witness such outrage from this lady before. What bothered me at the time and still does is that she did not stop herself from using profanity in front of all those children. I hope and pray that she was never mean to my child when I was not present. It's a hard thing to imagine as a parent that someone who is suppose to be a teacher and care for your child hurt your child. I put my trust in that school and if someone would of warned me about this place I would have never allowed my child to go there. This is also suppose to be a religious school. Our children rely on us to protect them and show them the way. Please be careful this is not a safe environment for any child to fall a victim to. I am contacting the board of education to file a complaint and hopefully have someone look into this immediately. Best of luck to all parents.

We first walked in and immediately felt the passion that both Katie and Michelle had for not only teaching but for the kids. And it's definitely evident when we see them with our child. Below are just some of the many reasons we love the school: They follow the DOE (department of education) calendar. If you have other kids, you know how important it is to have them all off at the same time for vacations!  Small class sizes. The kids get the one-on-one they not only need, but deserve. The teachers really get to know the kids on a personal level and it shows when they do the parent teacher conferences. They are able to articulate where your child is excelling and where they need extra attention and give you the support you need to help them at home.  Strong Montessori foundation. We've explored many other types of schools but have found that Montessori is the absolute best for our child. She's just started Kindergarten and will be well above 2nd grade level once she's finished.  After school programs. The school offers many exciting after school programs that the kids love like soccer, dance, science and even yoga. These really benefit us in particular because they go beyond the normal school hours and work best with our work schedules.  Price. Very affordable especially considering the quality education that the kids receive and there are plenty of programs for financial assistance (preschool open doors).  Cultural/environmental awareness. One thing we really love is how our child is now very aware of their environmental footprint and how they can make positive changes. For instance, they have a Monk Seal responder team that will actually go out and meet when there is a Monk Seal sighting. This hands on approach is such an amazing way for the kids to learn. Also, the school is great at having lessons based on the Hawaiian culture and Maui in general.  Mahalo Nui Little Monk Seal Montessori!

Words can't do justice to the great experience I've had at ABC Keiki Care. As a mother of a newborn she brought smiles to my face as I would receive photos and text messages throughout the day. It is awesome to watch this woman work! My favorite message/video she sent me was of her trying to get my son down for his nap and patting his bum and being so responsive to his cues for more! It was hilarious and humbling to watch her care for him so individually. I found this quote once and it describes perfectly what I've found with ABC Keiki Care: Family child care Is NOT babysitting. It's not comparable To any child care center. It's FAMILIES in RELATIONSHIPS With a PROFESSIONAL Care provider In an environment, that becomes, BY DESIGN, a second home, And a whole bunch of people Partnering, trusting, caring And educating each other.

Looked at every option and am close friends with many of the teachers in different schools and they all agree, it's a place like no other, like almost back in time but not. You just don't deal with what you deal with anywhere else and it's hard to explain unless you experience it. I've seen many people try Maui for a short time with young children as a year experiment and literally stay here because of this place...which is much bigger decision that deciding on a neighborhood somewhere. Lunches... Yes... They are catered by a restaurant people love to eat at and how they make it so affordable for the parents, including tuition is beyond me. But be prepared to join in the fun and become part of something that you just have to see for yourself to get. It's not your typical private school... When my kiddo needed tutoring, they rallied around him with a dedication that you would rarely see from one's own family, let alone a school. Now he's ahead of the curve and loves school. Days off are fantastic and little kiddo graduations are like nothing you've ever seen in terms of just fun and support in the aloha spirit. This is the one place on school earth that you can actually tell your kids if they were absent a day, that they didn't miss school...school actually missed them.

A private school education with NO real professionalism. My child attended their ELC program (When Mrs. Nicole Okada was there teaching the 3yr old group, and she is the ONLY reason why that ELC program succeeded, she is the absolute GEM of all teachers, truly a beautiful soul and we were so blessed to have her for the year that we did. Otherwise the staff (besides Jan Pasamonte- who was another piece of Heaven at that school) is unkind, sassy, brash and down right mean. They do not respond to you in a timely manner, if at all. When you call to inquire about their school, they completely cut you off the phone. (and we called SEVERAL times to give them the benefit of the doubt!) Lahaina has very few options for outstanding pre-K schools and Sacred Hearts is just another example of staff collecting paychecks rather than doing their jobs of educating the future. (DO NOT SEND your child to their preschool program-HORRIBLE, I watched several of their teachers yell and scold these young children- it is NOT a happy place!) **My husband and I actually got into contact with Holy Innocents Preschool, and will take a tour of their school soon, but one thing to note: Their personnel on the phone was actually pleasant to speak with and gave us useful and detailed information- FINALLY

The surf school reached out to us a…read moreday before and told us our afternoon slot was cancelled, but we could be rescheduled to a morning slot, or get a refund. We picked the morning slot, then received instructions to go to mile marker 19 on Lahaina highway and look for a white Tacoma. We had decided to skip the rental car and use Lyft/Uber on this trip, so that was concerning. We were able to instruct the driver about the approximate location. There was a a row of pickup trucks with surfboards near mile marker 19, so we got out and asked around for Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy. Eventually we found the right Tacoma, but I didn't have much confidence we'd found the right spot for a while. My daughter had to have a solo lesson with Kayla due to her age, while my son and I had a semi private lesson with Chad. Our instructors were great, and we were able to stand up with a couple of tries, and a few turns later the instructor had me try a smaller board so I could turn more easily. About 1 1/2 hour into our two hour lessons both my son and felt salt water stinging our knees and lower thighs from chafing against the board, so we ended the lesson early. We were also pretty tired at that point. The surf school gave us long sleeved water shirts, but knee long shorts in the same fabric would have made big difference too. Our instructor told us the chafing is because they use teaching surf boards with a material that has more friction to make it easier to stand on the board, but it also causes more chafing than boards with wax. In the hurry to catch our car ride, we forgot to bring water, but my daughter's instructor very kindly gave us one of her personal water bottles. Thank you Kayla! All in all, we had a great introduction to surfing with a lot of successful attempts to catch waves. Two hours felt long for an intro session. I wish my instructor had told me to paddle a bit more easy out to save strength for catching waves but I also tend to go max all the time until I run out of gas. Above all, I highly recommend wearing at least knee long water shorts to prevent chafing knees and lower thighs. The instructors were amazing. If Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy also were to provide pants and water given the remote location, if say they would stand way up and above the competition.
