When you first walk in, you are treated by lots of local art in vibrant colors. In the back there are cases with eclectic jewelry, goddess style dresses, t-shirts and small gift items. The prices are on the high end, but this is a tourist mall and the items are unique. I've been searching for a pair of Sterling and Larimar earrings to match a gorgeous pendant and ring I have. Larimar is a sky blue stone from the Dominican Republic. It's rare and very very striking. Most earrings are small drops but I like long dangling earrings that make a statement. I found them here and didn't hesitate to by them immediately! The stones are large and a perfect shade of sky blue hanging from a curved hook so they hang at cheek level. Perfect! They were $138 and I already treasure them. Wish this shop had more jewelry, gifts and clothes! A gem amongst the stores at this mall. The woman waiting on me was super friendly and we easily engaged in conversation. I'll be back!

When we went to the store in Wailea near our resort, we thought we'd find the same artist's pieces there. Unfortunately, they did not carry that artist because another store in the mall did (which did not have the same type of piece). However, Jennifer, the manager, said she'd be at the Lahaina store the next day and gave us her number. When we called, she texted us a photo of the pieces from her own personal cell phone and then took our order over the phone to ship back to the mainland. It saved us a very long drive right before our return flight home.

This gallery has been located inside of the Grand Wailea Hotel and Resort for a decade. Recently…read more(the past few months), the ownership has changed. Apparently, the former owner also owned the sushi bar in the Grand Wailea and decided to call it quits with both businesses. The new owner has retained some of the old works (by the masters) and has started introducing a variety of local artists in the gallery space. Other artists who used to show in this gallery can now be found down the street in the Shops of Wailea. When you walk in the door, you will see a large selection of glass on display by Dale Chihuly. You will also see other artists featured in the window displays. As you wander the gallery, you will likely find as many as 25 different artists on display. Everybody working here has been very friendly and informative since my visits began in 2006. Since the new owner took over, some of the local artists on display work in the galley, which makes things more interesting. If you join the email list, you get informative emails that come infrequently. They are good about that. I consider this a must visit gallery if you are on an art tour or enjoy shopping for art on vacation. After you are done, don't miss the galleries in the Shops of Wailea. Didn't see enough? Lots of original CANVAS paintings, and some large to very large canvas paintings! Lots of acrylic on paper as well in all sizes & prices as well as some mixed media. Never seen a collection of real paintings like this anywhere. Very happy to buy our painting from Peters gallery! Lots of ALOHA as expected at a Peter Max gallery in Hawaii. The gallery is very bright, spacious & quite welcoming! I find myself always feeling the need to stop in and walk around & admire the many beautiful art... A very relaxing experience every time! Some of my favorites are the wildlife sculptures and the beautiful blue glass wave jewelry! I spent more time admiring the many beautiful unique pieces of jewelry! Whether you are buying the $$$$ piece or some of the prints you could tell both women who we were able to meet over our stay at the Andaz (who worked there) just wanted you to feel comfortable and enjoy your viewing or purchase. This is just the start of our family collecting these pieces...but the "how" some of the larger/original pieces are made are so cool and unique to the island. The price on their website online is lower than what I was charged in person at their store and I showed the lady at the store after being charged on my credit card but she deny, won't work on a price adjustment or refund. Very frustrating and disappointing with the customer service provided at that store. Be careful when they take your credit card number and insert in their computer. You likely to feel ripped off once you walk out. I told her I will write a review about the experience and she said "go for it".
