I don't know why it's taken me so long to write about EG Park, but after the past visit, it was such a nice experience that I just had to tell the world. This park is huge and has everything - trails, picnic tables, duck pond, frisbee nets, dog park and bike park. The bike park is across the parking lot of the dog park, with plenty of dirt hills for practicing jumps. I've never seen a free bike park before. The dog park isn't separated by big/small dogs and the grass is spotty, but there are some training obstacles and the area is big. I'd rather walk my dog in the actual EG park instead. The weekends are always busy with birthdays, photoshoots, and other parties, but they are spaced out so there is privacy and even low noise when walking around on the path. On rainy days, the canopy of trees keep the path dry in most parts. I love the large pond and watching the ducks, geese, and squirrels. There's always something interesting to look at every season. In the spring you can spot eggs on the island and lots of adorable baby ducks. You used to be able to go on the island, but the bridge is now gated to allow for bird breeding. On this particular day, it was sprinkling and the rain softly falling on the pond with ducks, geese, and their babies' pitter pattering along were just so zen. The majority of the park is lush with green grass and hardly any trash around. There's plenty of trash bins along the path and benches to relax on. If you're lucky, you'll spot a unique bird or two. My favorite is the cormorant that dives for fish on the pond. Whether it's a stroll in the park, a party, doggy play date, or a zen place to run away from your problems, EG Park is my go to.

Such a shame as it was a nice dog park, sort of close to our house. It's been over 15 years since I've been here so the epidemic has probably passed and your are probably safe to bring your dog. There is always the chance you could get kennel cough at a dog park, it's like the common cold in people so it's much less of an issue. Just be safe when you go and make sure your dog is vaccinated. Then you're doing the best that you can. I am overly cautions so after we leave a dog park we always wash the paws as they've been running around and can pick up something that no one is aware of. This park has a lot to offer. There are 2 sand volleyball courts, 2 ponds with fountains, a stream, multiple soft or baseball fields, a soccer field, and large open spaces. I imagine that it gets busy in the spring time during baseball season. They have stadium seating for the onlookers, but I can imagine many people bring their own chairs and shade conversing, umbrellas and such. You are welcome to bring your own chairs, but they have lots of picnic tables and benches available too. The rotary memorial is a big gazebo area with picnic benches and standard benches. We ate in that area as it had all the picnic tables in it and we shared a table with 2 other families. A little cramped, but it was nice to sit down with a table and not just a bench. They hold multiple festivals throughout the year. Today's festival was the Vietnamese New Years Celebration and that was what brought us out to the Elk Grove Regional Park. Last year we came to a similar festival, but it was at another part of Elk Grove. Good thing we relooked at the website to realize it was located here at the Elk Grove Regional Park. The lot to the right was full and was where the festival was located. We continued going straight and then parked on the left right by the first baseball diamond and next to the bathrooms. It was an easy walk to the festival. The park is huge so you may want to scout out to see where your group is located before you park if you don't want to walk too far. We saw lots of people parking in the baseball lot like we did, there were also some unpaved spots along the main road that people were parking. At the festival area there were 2 stages set up. Portable stages, so they aren't park of the Park's amphitheater. We did walk by the park's Amphitheatre and it was closed for the season. Along with the 2 stages set up in one parking lot they had set up bounce houses and other kid friendly activities. They even had a mini train that took the kids on a train ride around the festival. In another parking lot they had community vendors offering free information about services they provide. In another parking lot they had food vendors, pop up tents and food trucks. Between the community vendors they also had venders selling jewelry, key chains, and other do dads. We found a vendor that was selling rice plates and got one, most of the vendors were offering fried foods and my husband wasn't interested. Lots of vendors were offering boba teas, smoothies, and sugar cane drinks. The price when up if you have little to no ice. We didn't see any bathrooms in the area we were in, but they brought in port-a-potties and hand washing stations that were supplied with water, soap, and paper towels. We used them soon as we arrived before they got busy and gross. We loved our time at the Elk Grove Regional Park and because it was such a positive experience, the parking was easy we'll be back for another festival.

Once they warmed up to it they had a ton of fun! My daughter loved it! She was soaked once we left. You control the water from poles and a circle on one of the palm trees. More than just a playground I'm just not sure what the other play equipment would be called. Big bathrooms and lots of table to sit and eat. Can't wait til the trees are grown in here, could use a little more shade, but great as it!! Would recommend this park!!

My kids started playing pickleball, and came to a clinic taught be a coach. It was good times. The courts are nice, they are heavily used according to the wife, as tons of people from all around town come here to play quite competitively in the mornings. Recreational players who are so good, they look like pros to us. Anyways, lots of retired folks and others who come to play because this is a great sport for all. Well, the kids look like they have enjoyed it so far, it looks to be fun. There's 6 courts here and very spacious. Nets look in good condition, courts look good too, the pavement looks a little worn here and there, but I also could tell it's all kept up pretty well. The fence here is good too, so it's pretty secluded, there's some seating w/a couple of tables w/a shaded patio cover right by the courts for resting if not playing. I took a few pictures of the BBQ area so I'd remember how much room there is for future parties, plenty of picnic tables and the water feature/spray park area is nice too. That part won't start till after Memorial Day, according to the wife. It was windy the day we came for pickleball, but I ended up playing a few games too after the clinic ended, and wife and I both had a good workout and it was fun. Must work these old bones or we'll fall apart, haha We'll be back.

There's a basketball court, a walkway/walking path, grassy areas, a little creek runs through the back of the park, and there's also a couple of play areas/structures. Overall, it's a nice little park and when we were there, we saw it used quite a bit by kids having fun/playing, as well as adults getting exercise. It was even a bit crowded as it's pretty popular in the neighborhood. The only thing we really did not like is the phone tower disguised as a redwood tree right there in a corner of the park. That's probably not a good thing to have right at a park.

Officially called the Jones Family Park, this park in North Elk Grove is in a neighborhood near EG…read moreFlorin and Calvine. It's located near some good friends of ours, so we come here once in awhile. It is a medium size park that backs into a railroad track and then there's a wildlife area made up of a a fenced-off wetlands preserve. I've not gone over to that part, but the park itself has a playground, a gazebo covered picnic area, a half court for bball, 2 baseball fields, a tennis court, a huge open field of grass for other sports such as soccer, frisbee, etc. The one big attraction here is probably the gazebo with 3 basic metal picnic tables, I've seen a lot of parties held here just driving past to get to my friends' place, so it seems a popular park for nearby families to hold their celebratory events. It's not as nice and new a gazebo as the newer neighborhood parks in the south parts of Elk Grove, as those have concrete picnic tables, but this one still sees a ton of use. There is also a tennis court, but unfortunately, there are only 2 courts and they're not marked/retrofitted for playing pickleball, like at some of the other EG parks. Also they're quite worn. The pavement on the courts are cracked/peeling and the perimeter were not well kept but dirty with some piece of litter that's not been picked up. I also saw a couple spots w/dog doo doo which means people are being disrespectful and letting their dog do their business on the edges of the courts and/or stray dogs are coming in and pooping, so that's not bueno. One of the nets was also badly damaged so it essentially doesn't work. The park has seen better days for sure, but it used to be very overgrown as their fields were not getting mowed down due to lack of funding. Our friends told us Cosumnes CSD finally found some funds to keep it up a bit better now, but also that some of the folks who are not from around this neighborhood, but only come for baseball games have trashed the park in the past, which is unfortunate. Hopefully, that situation has improved and people won't be so inconsiderate. I didn't go over to the baseball fields, so I didn't see if they're in good shape, but let's respect our parks. Parking is easy here with a dedicated lot and plenty of parking spaces, some of the spots have shade trees to park under too which is nice on a warmer day. All in all, this is a nice older neighborhood park, which hopefully will see some updating soon.

We even came on a windy day, and it was still a wonderful place to be. It is so spacious that it's the perfect spot to fly kites. A few of us were flying kites together, and it was such a relaxing, heartwarming experience. It's incredibly family and dog friendly, super roomy, and has so much going on. Because it's so clean and well maintained, this might just become the park I bring my kids to most often, and it is definitely a top choice for hosting future family events! It is perfect for a workout, sports activities, or just letting the kids play. I love the layout, especially how they designed the two separate grass areas where one sits at a lower elevation, while the other is level with the rest of the park. But honestly, what really blew me away was the restroom. I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but I'm serious! So many park restrooms are cold, dark, dirty, and lacking privacy. This one felt downright luxurious. It is completely temperature controlled, which was especially nice since it was breezy outside! It was warm, well lit, exceptionally clean, and had absolutely no odor. It even sounded like it had a great ventilation system running. The only minor downside was the lack of toilet seat covers, but that's an easy fix. The entire park feels pretty new with a beautiful, modern design, conveniently located right behind the Sky River Casino. Highly recommend checking it out! Rate: 10/10

I even hosted my first baby gender reveal here back in 2022! Because of those deep roots, it has been incredibly disappointing to see its recent decline now that I am trying to bring my own children here. Over the past couple of years, the environment has changed significantly and it just doesn't feel like the safe, clean space it once was. The restroom facilities are no longer accessible or available, and the playground equipment is not being adequately maintained. Additionally, there is now an unhoused community located right next to the park grounds. I want to be entirely clear that I have no ill will toward anyone, and I deeply understand that everyone needs a safe place to stay. However, having an encampment directly adjacent to a dedicated space for young children raises valid safety concerns for us parents. Unexpected things can happen, and it makes it difficult to feel completely secure when bringing our little ones to play. It is truly sad to see because this park holds so many beautiful memories for my family. I sincerely hope local management can address these maintenance and safety concerns so it can be restored to the clean, thriving community space it used to be.
