Not when the kids were younger, and not when we lived kind of closer to here. Seem it just never registered on our radar to come here and enjoy the facilities. In fact, I thought this is an Elk Grove Cosumnes Community Services District maintained park, and it turns out it's a City of Sac Park & Rec park, just goes to show I don't get out enough recreationally, haha. Anyways, so we arrived and went down Jacinto and had to make an U-turn bc the courts were not down that street, so we came back onto Center Parkway as the wife pointed out the covered fence must be where the tennis courts are. I give her props as a good navigator. So we found street parking right next to the courts and joined our friends who got there first. The courts are in pretty good shape except one of the court has some major cracks from settling, it would be good if the City filled them. These are regular tennis courts with Thermoplastic pickleball lines applied in blue over the white lines 2 years ago, according to my buddy. I would say the lines could've been another color like yellow or a lighter color than the blue and they would be more visible for my old eyes, but they are durable. We played as 1 set of doubles and 1 set w/3, boys and girls separate, for a good while and then it got kind of too hot as we were approaching midday. So we had some snacks and water and then we all headed out to go home for lunch. The Rules for this court are clearly posted on the fence entrance door on a metal sign (see pics) and it's open from sunup till 10pm, and lights are allowed from sunset till 10p, although the courts are not lighted, which is probably a good thing so as to discourage people from playing till too late and disturbing the neighborhood. Although the courts are not shaded by any trees, there is plenty of shade right outside the entrance but there's not seating / tables anywhere close by so if you want to chill and have a snack, bring your own picnic blankets or some lawn chairs, no eating/drinking on the courts. We had a good time and this is closer to us and not so crazy busy compared to many of the other parks w/pickleball courts all over Elk Grove and Sac, so we'll be back.

You can cross a bridge that will take you the actual park but the reason I took 2 stars off is because the public restrooms are closed. Thats very troublesome for the families with little ones that I saw run up and could not get in, as well as pregnant women that needed to go. The bathrooms should always be open during regular hours. Other than that it is a nice place to walk and observe nature in the city. People are courteous and polite. They have poop bags throughout your walk so please be kind and pick up after your pet.

Kloss park play structure is just under a mile walk from Pederson Park. I say this because this…read morespot has a bathroom but Pederson does not but that spot has a zip lip :-) Kloss play structure has a bit of shade and the "big kid " play area can still accommodate some smaller kids (keep an eye on them though due to the height - but what little doesn't love a good ramp). The little kid play area is smaller than Pederson. There are two shade covered table areas in this park one close and one further away from these play structures. Quite a few other single tables and bbqs throughout and lots of trees. this park has baseball field and lots of lawn area. Restrooms are pretty decent the times I've needed to use it. Not too bad - better than a porta potty. Conveniently located functional drinking fountain for humans and dogs. If you wanted to get a coffee and meet up with friends - park at Starbucks by Bel Air and walk a little over a mile to this playground and back for a beautiful exercise experience.

Easy to walk, wagon friendly, stroller friendly, bike friendly. The park was so clean, quiet, there's tables and bbq grills, bathroom, two play grounds, exercise area, baseball/soccer field, & parking. I saw people fishing, bikers biking by, teenagers on scooters and small electric bikes, family walking, and dogs on leash walking by. It was so nice. We had a mini picnic there, while kids play. I love the walk. Pick up after yourself and keep the pathway, nature and park clean. I saw free dog doody bags provided at the park. so people can use it to pick up after their dogs. This is a nice park and nice, easy hike. Love it!

But recently,…read moreone of my friends and neighbor noticed this and decided to invite me for a nice walk with her dog to a park located in Elk Grove. I had never heard of this place before, and actually looked forward to joining her, just to get out of my house and commune with nature for a change. Located off of Elk Grove Florin Rd and Bond Rd, we arrived into this quiet little nature reserve, and parked in the adjoining parking lot right at the entrance. There are houses that line the park, but the residents do a great job of blending in and maintaining their well landscaped properties. The trail begins with a welcome sign, visitor rules, descriptive history and a map, along with a list of what plants, birds and other animals you may encounter. Treating the park with respect is number one priority. My friend, her cute little dog and I started our walking adventure with determined enthusiasm! There is a paved trail that leads you along Laguna Creek's natural ecosystem which provides a home for many water dependent wild life. I really enjoyed our outing that lasted for many hours of conversation, exercise, meeting other friendly hikers and bikers, and best of all, watching birds and turtles living a protected life in this swamp like habitat. This area is also home to several feral cats that are spayed, neutered and well fed! Don't expect this park to be perfect. The paved trail is bumpy and not complete, the stagnant areas of water is thickly green with algae, and the wilderness pretty much fends for itself. But If you keep walking for about 3 miles, you can cross a bridge that connects you to Jack E. Hill Park, where visitors can enjoy picnicking and relaxation. As we made our way back to the car, I couldn't help but feel somewhat energized with a better outlook on my life! Nature does that to me!

It's August and it's hot. You can walk this trail from the northside park off of Jacinto or you can…read morego down to the neighborhoods around Betchart Park off of Laguna Park Drive. This trail goes all the way cutting across Bighorn and if you continue south all the way down to Laguna Boulevard by the Safeway. Be prepared in the summertime there is not a lot of shade. But even the sun scorched earth has beautiful purple wildflowers. Enjoy this trail in the morning or early evening evenings during the summertime. The creek bed is dry right now also so the only wildlife you might see is going to be a rabbit or Two.
