This is one of the cutest libraries I have ever walked into. It's like an adorable boutique library, with a full on fairy garden with sculptures. And a super cute little bookstore connected to the library just to the right down a few steps, very dog, friendly extremely people friendly, and the price of the books are extraordinarily affordable. Love this cute library fairy garden. We walked from the beach. It was off season (early fall or late summer). We got there around 10-11am and just paid $20 to park instead of waiting for ppl to leave. Great place to walk around with plenty of places to eat and shop. read more

A library nestled amongst the shops with so many books! They have clean restrooms, computers in their children's section and tables to enjoy the books. The staff are so friendly and helpful if you're interested in a library card. If you're a California resident you can get a library card. Also, I learned I can go to any of the Orange County library locations with my new card. Definitely going to come back. read more

Small South OC library. Parking must be hard since the downtown area is paid and a competitive area on the weekend. The selection for non-fiction is poor. The new books section was interesting and has a hot find section for books you can only check out for 3 weeks and not renew. The librarian was helpful. I'm glad I can return my books to another OC branch. read more

This is one of the nicest public libraries. The librarian is so kind and greets you at the door. The children get to the scavenger hunts, and get prizes. I really really wanted to fall in love with this particular library. Everything on the outside of this library makes it a coastal gem. For example, there is an inventive learning discovery garden, lovely sculptures festooning the perimeter, along with other explorative activities for families. However, just like most of the OC (except for Laguna Cyclery, of course), the outside doesn't really reflect the inside. I am a bit disappointed with the staff. I know they are kind, because I've seen them be kind to other people. That kindness is more likely reserved for people who don't look like they've been collecting seawater samples for their research all day. Understandable. The first time I came in, I asked the librarian assistant what book she would recommend right now? She answered blankly, "I don't know." Then I asked another assistant what he thought about ChatGPT and the fate of books? Another blank expression. Didn't blame him for that one. The last time I came in, I asked the lead librarian how she was? She responded briskly with, "I'm busy." Cool, dude. My devotion and fascination for libraries is not affected by those experiences. Thus, my review is a 3. Fair. Somewhat not impressed by the lack of warmth or knowledge from the staff, but it's okay. This spot is still filled with captivating local books, a view of the California Current, and a rad downstairs connected bookstore. A library is the preservation of knowledge in its most analog and original form. What could be more valuable than that? read more

This Orange County Public Library is located in the Heart of Laguna Beach and features one of the best reading rooms with an incredible view of Main Beach and the Pacific Ocean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You're able to reserve your books online and then pay $.25 to conveniently pick up. If a book is not available at this location, they will have it shipped from other Orange County library. There are some dedicated library parking spots underneath the building. read more

This library is always so clean and is well staffed. They also have lots of activities for varying ages. It doesn't get too crowded either. And we have not yet been downstairs to the used book shop, but have heard great things about it. Today we went to the Friday Play and Learn activity for toddlers and were so impressed! The facilitator (I forgot her name but she was young and had platform shoes) was super knowledgeable and loved interacting with children. She was the perfect person for this job. read more

I live in Sacramento and was working in Orange County for a few weeks. I needed to copy a report so stopped into the library to see if they had a copier I could use, Lee and Rita at the front desk was so helpful and pleasant that I wanted to acknowledge them in a review. The library is easy to access and parking is plentiful and nearby. I saw several people come in after me and everyone was warmly greeted and helped as I was. The library? Sounds like the name of a dark, lounge-y bar. Nope, this is an actual review of a public library. Ever since the birth of the Internet libraries have fallen to the wayside just like so many other things. Remember writing a letter? Where did we turn before Yelp? I admit, I have forgotten all about my local library. The last book I read was over two months ago. So why did I go to the library? Curiosity and nostalgia. I'm a freak when it comes to both. This particular library is in downtown Laguna Beach, so expect to see a lot of transients around looking for a quiet place to take a nap or get out of the heat. They've got about 15-20 public computers and if you need to print something out, they've got a printer you can use for a nominal charge. Fees haven't really changed much. It'll cost you a quarter a day for a late book and $1 for a late DVD. Still a deal considering the DVDs are free and you can check out up to 20 at a time. They may not be the latest releases, but what more do you want for free? The best part about this library is it's only about a block away from the beach where you can sit down, relax and enjoy that book! read more

We love this library, we come here to get a break from the heat and crowds at the beach. Good place for my daughter to get some online school work done. I love the Orange County Library system. With over 30 branches available, they come in handy for borrowing books, CDs, DVDs, buying used books, using a computer, WiFi, or a bathroom. The online catalog keeps getting easier to use and I love the ebook/eaudio system. I love their hold system. I love that this on is within walking distance of many other places. Parking can be tough. I needed more time to browse the used books. read more

I dropped by here on a Wednesday afternoon to print out some documents from my laptop. This is a tidy little OCPL branch located on the corner of Glenneyre and Park in Laguna Beach. There is a small parking lot under the building as well as some street parking around the area. I actually parked in the lot on Forest and Laguna Canyon and walked into the village. The library has a children's wing to the left and an adult's wing to the right; the circ desk is right in the middle. There are a number of computer stations, a long table with power strips for laptop users, and a little porch outside (not always very shady though). I didn't look much at the collection since I was trying to get some documents printed. I'd used the wireless printing at a different OCPL branch before, so I was a little confused when the printer wouldn't show up on my computer. I thought to myself, "ugh, how embarrassing, I'm a librarian and can't figure out how to use public library printing software," and slunk over to the reference desk to get some help. The librarian was super nice; although he wasn't able to find the handout on setting up the wireless printing in the clutter of the desk, he made a valiant attempt to get my laptop to connect properly to the printer. Eventually we just saved my files onto a flash drive and he printed them out behind the desk. I was printing out some resumes, and after he noticed that I had gone to library school, struck up a nice conversation about libraries and working in the profession. I'll stop in again when I'm in the area. read more

I love taking my little ones to this library for fun kid-sponsored events like "pajama story time", although during the days, it feels and looks more like a homeless shelter. Two homeless women almost got into a fight right there in the middle of the library because one of them kept coughing so loudly that it was very disruptive to everyone. More than about two-thirds of the people there had luggage with them- I was afraid to leave my phone, keys or anything thinking that they would be stolen. When I go to the library, I expect a quiet, professional, respectful environment and hope that the employees would enforce that. I know that Laguna prides itself on taking in the homeless, but this is getting ridiculous! read more
