Great library for story time! This library offers story time several days in the week and has an ample amount of toys to keep the kids busy. It's a 20-30 min from Irvine but Ms. Rylee keeps the kids engaged and there are so many things to do. The beauty of this library is that there is a park in the same parking lot. If you ever come, story time is in the MPR separate from the library. There's ample space and stroller parking inside, as well as bathrooms. read more

Foothill Ranch library has a good view. It's right next to a park. What a perfect place to grab a book and read in the sunshine. Pretty good-sized library with study tables front and center upon entry. Right when you walk in, make an immediate right to purchase used books from their small room "Friends Bookstore." With all the kids at the study tables, the noise level is low to medium. They host some pretty cool free events that I hope to try soon. This library does belong to the OC Public Libraries. You might get a little lost finding it; a few turns up a hill. Parking is shared with the park and there is some covering, if you want to make a day of it. read more

Foothill Ranch Library is a small spot, but it's been helpful since Heritage Park Library in Irvine (which isn't part of OC Public Libraries) is closed right now. It's about a 15-minute drive. Everything works well--except for the office hours. My wife often wants to take the kids there on Fridays or Sundays, and I always ask, "Are you sure it's open today?" She usually checks, sighs, and says, "It's closed today." The hours can be a little confusing, and that makes things tricky sometimes. Maybe it's just how this branch operates, but it's not ideal for weekend visits. If it's closed, then we go to the OC Library in Tustin instead. read more

Foothill Ranch Library has regularly scheduled events for kids. They used to do storytime inside the library in the kids section. Nowadays it is held in the adjacent community room that can accommodate more people. The community room was also used for magic shows for kids, and the neighborhood voting center during elections. I particularly like its courtyard. I can enjoy my reading in the shade, feeling the breeze next to trees and bushes. I can connect to OCPL Wi-Fi here too. read more

Very disappointed with the recent slime-making event at this library. They clearly accepted more participants than they were prepared for. Supplies ran out quickly, and many kids--including mine--didn't even get the materials needed. What's the point of hosting an event if you can't provide enough for the children who went? It felt disorganized, poorly planned, and honestly unfair. Watching kids get excited only to be told there's nothing left for them is not okay. Libraries are supposed to be places that support learning and creativity--not leave children feeling left out and frustrated. We won't be attending any future events here. Do better. read more

Usually I go to a different branch but have been coming here lately in my search for good reads. Although this is a small library they have quite a number of books in most categories. Shelves are well organized and the library is clean and tidy. As others have mentioned it isn't the quietest library. Kids can be loud and obnoxious at times and the parents don't seem to care (nor the librarians). I've noticed that most people who are in study areas wear headphones or earbuds to help keep out the noise. The library is still a great place to come to easily get your hands on some excellent books...for FREE. This one is sure to have some to fit your interests. read more

A friend of mine who lives in Anaheim was looking for a specific book. I helped him locate it using the OCPL website and the book was in stock at Foothill Ranch. He drove 45 min to get there and arrived 10 min prior to closing. He had the book in hand and was ready to checkout and the staff refused to assist him with getting a library card. They said he had to go online and figure it out himself and that because they were closing they didn't have time to wait and he couldn't get the book. So he had to drive 45 min up and 45 min back for nothing because of the lazy and unhelpful staff at Foothill Library. I'm frustrated that my tax dollars are wasted on such a place that's too useless to do their job and assist the public with getting a library card and checking out 1 book. Since when does the library say you cannot get your library card at the library and you have to fill out garbage online. Not everyone is tech savy! Are they making little old senior citizens learn how to be tech savy just to check out a book?! This is totally absurd and offensive. This library should be de-funded if they can't even assist with providing a library card. Pathetic customer service. read more

The librarian workers are very rude and unprofessional. I ask the library woman if my child can get a color sheet and she said no and I ask her even more politely, that we plan to take it home and she still said no to us. As my child was crying. I live in Rancho Santa Margarita which has been going through a renovation so Foothill Ranch has been the nearest branch since Covid hit. Foothill Ranch and the entire OC library system has been fantastic throughout the pandemic. THANK YOU so very much for making it easy to access books safely. What a nice library. It's a little small, but looks very clean. They have a small kids play/reading area. I'm not sure how great it is if your kid is making a noise as it's joined to the library and has no door. They have some cool interactive boxes for babies that you can check out. Each box has a theme with a couple of books and a CD to go with it. Great for ideas for what to do with your infant. I haven't checked out the book selection, but it's part of OC libraries, so whatever is in there can be shipped over for you. read more

This is our go-to library, and we appreciate how helpful and kind the staff has been even through the height of the pandemic. The library is well-kept, organized and just an overall happy place to be for our toddler. My toddler loves the little kids playroom and the playground across the street. Very loud. Every evening I have taken my daughter for her tutoring sessions here, there is a family that brings their kids into the library and treat it like a playground. The kids are very loud and extremely disruptive. I made a comment to the staff about the noise level and I was told the toys would be removed from the kids area. Two weeks later the toys still remain and the same family is here with their very loud children. Other patrons have told them to be quiet but to no avail. Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Foothill Ranch is the Foothill Ranch Library, located next to the Foothill Ranch Elementary School and local park. The spacious 13,000 square-foot clean and well-organized public library offers a large selection of books for all ages as well as DVDs, CDs, magazines, newspapers and free internet access at a public personal computer. There is also a separate padded room for the little kiddies equipped with stuffed animals, puzzles, coloring pages and crayons to keep them occupied. My daughter and I have come here a couple of times to borrow specific books that weren't available at our local library so that we would have that extra week on the books that we borrow, in case that extra week was needed. Otherwise for a small fee (50 cents, I believe) you can have your local library get a book for you from a neighboring city's library for one week. read more

We love this local library! It's always clean, the staff have always been friendly and welcoming. There is a nice reading area for kids and our family has loved participating in the summer reading program. We recently picked up books through their curbside service and it was so easy! This Library is very clean, quiet, and nice and cool from the heat outside. But the lady I spoke too was rude, I kindly replied to find where a book was, she pointed me into the direction. As I was walking towards the books I supposedly walked in the wrong aisle and she got mad about it. I apologize to her and said sorry this is my first time here at this location. She led me straight to the book, then I asked her another question about it, she get me a sassy look and said "look for your self". For me that is hard only because I have a learning disability. After sitting down all in confusion, I had glanced up and saw a young little boy politely asking a question. As one of the librarians yelled at him to sit down and wait. I wish I can rate this with zero start. Isn't library supposed to be quiet so people can study and concentrate? Well, this library is loud and a lot of kids. You can hear baby crying. I just wish they implement a strict rule about noise in the library specially if there kids around. We only came here to check the bookstore out. The selection was rather limited so we just bought some fun stuff. But since there really isn't a lot of stuff inside, I now know where to donate all of my DVDs and books to. Do you know that you can borrow DVDs and CDs from the library? And they are not titles that came out in the 90s, these are recent releases. I have seen quite a few childrens titles. So parents out there, check the library before you buy. If the title is at another library, you can reserve online and they will ship to your library for 25 cents! If you live in Foothill Ranch or work here, this OC library location should be in walking distance. Located next to the Foothill Ranch elementary school, this is an amazing resource for residents. Over the years I have lived here, it has become apparent how great the library is. First as a place to study for advanced designations after college, and now for our young family to use as a resource. In a day and age where we get our news and information digitally, why would you go to the library? I suppose until the day when the Kindle or Iphone takes over the world, the library still has a place in my heart. If you have young children, they offer storytime reading. I hate having to give a library less than 5 stars but...I mean, this library is barely open. Not only that, but I have never seen the bookstore open. Whomp whomp. Foothill Library is a small and quaint library. It is located right next to a park and elementary school. One time, I made a mistake of driving over here right when the elementary school got out and it took me about 15 minutes to drive into the parking lot. Note: Avoid the hours when school gets out. While it's small, there is usually an open table or chair to work in every time I've come here with my laptop to write. Never underestimate a library by it's size--especially since you can always put holds on books online and just have them delivered here for pickup (for only 25 cents a book). Hurray public government buildings! I would really really like to visit the bookstore one day. Hopefully I can catch it on its rare day that it actually opens. There is a metal book drop off that is outside - very convenient since there are still times that I come here forgetting that it's closed and can just drop off books outside. I am completely sick and tired of the fact that every time I come here, people let their kids hang out here or they bring large noisy groups of kids. As a child, I was taught to respect the library and those around me by being quiet. This is not the case here and at times makes it hard to get work done. The quiet rule definitely needs to be enforced and shouldn't be free babysitting for the after school kids. read more

I love this library. I go here all the time. The staff is very friendly. They know what they are talking about when you ask questions about books. There is a quiet room that not many people go in, which I love. The friendly neighborhood bookstore has a great book selection for cheap. There is a kid's corner where the kids get to color and read. They have monthly calendars you can grab and see events attend free events such as "reading to therapy dogs" (this is for kids to build confidence in reading). read more

The person working at the check out desk became very annoyed that me and my kids were checking out DVD in addition to books and made a big deal about having to go and retrieve them from file cabinet behind her. It was not a pleasant experience to have my kids experience at a public library. read more

For years, this library provides cold and lousy services. I seldom feel welcomed by the employees working there. That's why I drive to Mission Viejo Library to avoid to see those cold faces though it's a lot further from home. Should I be hopeful to the this library? I don't know. Let's see. read more

i came here to find some quiet place to study. while the library is very nice and clean, it wasnt quiet. in fact, it was very noisy! there were so many children when i came and all of them were either making noises or crying. plus, they dont have a private study area or study room. other than that, this is a great library with helpful staffs and plenty of books to read. read more

If your looking for good fast Internet this is not the library for you! Studying for medical boards is already frustrating enough but to add to the frustration with slow Internet makes you just quit studying and go home. If you don't need the Internet and you just need a quite room to read or work in they do have a secluded room that's called the "quiet room" which is a good place to get work done. read more

Very well kept, great play area for the little ones. I would love for them to be a bit larger in regards to inventory other than that this is an A+ library. I love that the library is right next to a park so I can take a nice stroll during study breaks. (: Went to this library in order to find a quiet place to work done, study, and program. I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. There is a quiet room that you can request to use with ample outlets. I ended up checking out a python book and some cooking books. The proximity of this library to my house is perfect for when I'm too lazy to drive all the way to mission library, the only thing I don't like is they are closed on fridays which is inconvenient with my schedule. read more

great Children's Reading section!

The Footlhill Ranch library is the one close to my place , and since I have a 5 year old , I tend to visit often for children's story books at kids section. As of building , cleanliness and quiet atmosphere , I really don't have an issue , rather i would say , it is really a pleasant atmosphere over here , but the behaviour of its front desk assistants are really unacceptable. last 2 times , I have been facing impatience and a rude attitude towards me for asking more than one question or while clarifying my confusion ,Today , I had a confusion about the due date of certain books i checked out last time , I had to pay late fees as well , but I didnt argue over the late fess , rather i paid immediately.. only after that i was clarifying the return dates of 2 other books , which were not overdue , that time the lady became extremely impatient , literally insulted me with her face expression and words , and even got out of her chair and went to other direction ignoring what i was saying. This is something , I have made a complaint to the higher authority and next time if I am treated like that in a library , i will give written complaint and take some action. This is really a very disappointing attitude faced at a place like library. Her attitude is really shocking , how can a front office executive at a public librray can be so rude and arrogant...shame on the library which has hired a staff like her. read more
