I could do without the carpet...but the room is still very airy and roomy. And most importantly...peaceful. One of the things that sets Semperviva apart from other yoga studios is the instructors - they really understand the practice, and make yoga fun! There are many instructors for my varying moods. I live in Yaletown and it would be so easy to just walk to one of the many studios in my hood, but the drive across the bridge is worth it! Namaste.

Applause to their sale and marketing team for this deal it really draws people In. I already have convinced numerous friends to join because I am so impressed by everything this studio has to offer So far I have been to about 25 classes at the sea centre and kits beach location. Every class I have been to, is different- I have been to mostly Hatha classes and every session, even with the same teacher is totally unique! This is fabulous because it keeps my body guessing, works new muscle groups, and allows me to always be challenged. I have been a member at other more corporate yoga studios in vancouver before and I find their classes are all the same of each type of yoga. Sea Centre is by far the most gorgeous location- 180 degree views of the harbour in Granville island. So relaxing and rejuvenating- I always leave feeling like I just went on vacation. It's addictive. The studios themselves are non pretentious- I have found visiting other more corporate yoga companies in vancouver (not naming names!) that they can be TOO corporate.. Not very authentic or welcoming. I am happy to say I am now a semperviva client for life! Great job guys :)

Tried this studio out on Class Pass. There's pros and cons to this location. It's kinda a weird…read moreconfiguration because the actual studio is in the basement. They have self check-in, which is always nice. The change room is universal and the overall facilities are not huge, so there's no actual dedicated changing area or stalls. This is why they tell you to come already in your workout clothes, which is fine in summer but not great in winter when a lot of people don't want to be walking around in shorts. There were two shower stalls but they were out of order. One of two sinks was also out of order. There are two bathrooms, each is quite roomy. The coat/shoe area has cubbies, hooks and rubber mats for shoes. There is also a hydration station for filling water bottles and a water fountain. This area needs to be swept between classes as there was tons of debris on the floor, and at this point, no shoes are allowed. All gym equipment is provided except for mats- weights, toning balls, yoga blocks, bands and weighted bars. This is great because some locations do not provide this equipment. The studio itself is a bit strange as it's a giant long and narrow room. It is completely mirrored, but depending on where you are situated, I don't see how the instructor could be in view. The room, though, is more functional than the Smithe location and there was definitely less crowding, which is a huge plus. The instructor, Carla, was really good. She made sure to check if anyone had any injuries and she also made the stretch section more like a yoga flow, so it was less boring than normal. It was not the most difficult class, but it was challenging enough with the heat on.

I can't speak to the…read morefitness classes, only the yoga ones, and I know it's a little less conventional than your typical yoga-only joint which is actually why it gets 3 stars and not 2. Now, I did check this place out on a Groupon because yoga ain't cheap, but I can't see myself returning once it expires. Pros: Close to home. For me, at least. I often have no vehicle so this is an epic win. The instructors are super nice. Zero pretentiousness at all - a wonderful, albeit relatively rare virtue in Vancouver's yoga culture. They are also really fantastic at adding modifications for more advanced students to continue moving forward in their practice. Also a win! Doable for beginners and more challenging for the pros. Mat cleaner for all! Smells soooo good and a lovely provision. Cons: The noise. It's loud. People talk in the hot room. A lot. Maybe i'm a bit of a purist, but I don't love that. To me It's a place for calm. The music is often too loud or inappropriate for a yoga class. Again, totally fine for fitness classes...but not yoga. The floors. They are sort of made of this dense gym mat material. Great if you bail! Terrible for stability. The etiquette. As if the talking in class isn't bad enough, people bring cell phones to their mats. And they DO RING. To my knowledge, this wasn't addressed by the teacher (and the woman did not apologize). People enter the room late. People leave class early. The 15 minute window between classes makes for a rushed experience, effectively defeating the purpose of why I practice (just a personal thing, really). The space. There is none. Literally. Some cubby holes to put your stuff in near the front door and everyone is constantly tripping over each other. Lack of facilities. There is none. There is one bathroom and a staff bathroom. No change rooms. No showers. No lockers. Literally nowhere to change with 15 people coming and another 15 going at all times. I'm all for just the basics, no frills kinda stuff, don't get me wrong. But I am sure glad I only paid Groupon price for this experience. I may be able to overlook everything if this was a "you get what you pay for" situation. But the regular prices are on par with pretty much everywhere else - and everywhere else (I won't name names) tends to provide a much better overall experience.

I was just going to try one class because of the infared heat. but it was so amazing, I bought an unlimited pass. The infared heat is soothing and really helps me stretch much deeper than ever before in 20 years of classes! I look so forward to it and notice right away the difference when its turned on. I hope i never have to do yoga without it :))) I have been blown away many times here, by different young women that have pretty much 'choreographed' amazing sequences of postures or exercises for each of the different classes they teach. Interestingly, some also teach at other Oxygen locations, and also found the time to compose incredibly dynamic classes for us. It's really commendable! I hope Amarjeet (the sweet & attentive owner) will persuade them to teach at West Van location even more! I found almost every class great. There is only one 'yoga' instructor who's class I wont attend or recommend. That's pretty good odds! It would be great if they had Pilates Fusion scheduled every day as I fell in love with it!!
