A neighbourhood Italian restaurant close to the Isator, just outside the ring road in central Munich. The menu comprises Italian classics - pasta, pizzas and a sensibly limited range of traditional meat and fish dishes. There's a decent range of wines and aperitifs. As well as the regular menu there's a seasonal range as well. We had gazpacho to start, pizzas as mains and finished with the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and a dark berry compote (one was just enough to share). With two large beers, the bill came to €54. The gazpacho was excellent (smooth and quite piquant) and served with a generous basket of bread; the thin-crust pizzas were good; and the tart (especially the compote) was outstanding. Service started and ended well but after the mains we weren't offered the menu for dessert and, at that point, the waiters seemed to disappear for at least ten minutes. So we purloined a menu ourselves. Otherwise this would have been a 5* review. That said, I'd cheerfully eat here again. Note: they accept credit cards but only for amounts over €30. read more

Really a nice, good Italian restaurant and easy to find. A few tables outside with a warm atmosphere inside. I love the dark blue walls! Good wine selection and prices too - can get a glass, half, or full liter. The bruschetta to start was made with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella with a balsamic glaze. The veggie pizza was crispy with lots of fresh veggies! Definitely a good size portion too! I loved the fresh taste. My boyfriend got the steak, which was cooked as he asked with flavorful herb butter and veggies. read more

An excellent meal to the end of a Friday full of travel. Waitstaff was both friendly and efficient. Great atmosphere. Prices were good and the beer cold. I would suggest this place to anyone. I will definitly try and come back my next visit to Munich. read more

Same path, different day. I visited Munchen72...this time, they were open! However, my boyfriend was turned off by the smell of burned cheese (hey, its a fondue place), so we skipped elsewhere for dinner after a few drinks. Looks like Munchen72 and I were just not meant to be on this trip, sigh. And where was that, you ask? Back to Lago di Garda. And, I'm here to report...even better dinner experience than I had at lunch! Our kind (and semi-fluent in english) server equipped us with a nice table in the back, a wonderful bottle of chianti, two mista salads and a fresh basket of bread (much improved over my lunch bread from the week before). The best exchange involved "butter." Boyfriend: Do you have any butter? Waiter: ::::confused:::: (even though he speaks english) Boyfriend: :::makes swiping motion over his bread:::: Waiter: ::::brings reinforcement:::: 2nd Waiter: (a bit more fluent): Oh..."butter!" (pronounced: "bew-ter" Waiter: Oh! Betwer! Yes. Boyfriend: Ah, I see. Bewter. Good to know. Waiter: returns with a flourish of shaved butter amidst some greens. Nicely done! -- Ok so after we got some bewter...we dove into the menu. I opted for a daily special, the parpadelle with beef, mushrooms and mozzarella, my boyfriend the spaghetti bolognese. Mine was wonderful, handmade noodles, perfect. I could only finish half due to the large portion...bf polished the whole plate. That's what a day of being lost in Munich, drinking 4 beers, and not eating all day will do to a man, I suppose. We capped the night with 2 complimentary limoncello from our server (thanks!), bid our friends adieu and commented on what a lovely Italian dining experience. On a rather cold and rainy Munich afternoon, I found myself in dire need of sustenance. Having eaten my fair share of sausage products in the prior four days, we were pleasantly surprised to happen upon this small Italian eatery. We popped in for a late lunch. (They close at 2 p.m. for lunch service, which we walked in just at. They were still kind enough to serve us with nary an eye roll. LOVE that.) The restaurant is cute and aptly decorated with a nautical theme. I mean, "lago" IS lake in Italian, so it's very appropriate. I opted for a birra and pizza, the Regina to be exact. Proscuitto and mushrooms were my heavenly toppers to a delightfully thin crust. I couldn't help but eat the entire thing. (Don't be too judgy, I had skipped breakfast, had done a rather soggy walking tour that morning and was rather famished.) It really hit the spot. My date had the minestrone, which looked quite good and chock full of veggies, and some type of salad that was good portioned, yet seemed a bit heavy on the dressing. A delightful spot to duck in out of the rain/snow pummeling us and to give us some sustenance for the rest of the day. Salute! read more

Italian food that was a hit with 3/4 of us! The pizzas were good, spaghetti olio was tasty and the bruschetta was delicious. The 'miss' was the linguini and shrimp. It had an odd ingredient or taste to it. Service was laid back / don't be in a hurry to eat and run as it's not that kind of place. We sat by a window and had ample light but I could see where others had a point that it could be a bit dark in some rooms. Would return again! read more

Nice atmosphere, good food options along with sizable portions. However, the service is SLOW. It appeared there was one server on staff for the entire restaurant on a Saturday night. Many tables around us also experienced the same frustrations with the slow service. read more

I spent less than ten euros on what was undoubtably one of the best meals I have had while in Germany. The service was fantastic and didn't criticize me for ordering tap water. I highly recommend the tagliatelle! read more

had a Saturday lunch here -- pasta was very good (seemed house made). Pizza was in the same mode as most of the other Munich Italian places -- BUT one thing that stood out for us was the sauce -- had a little bit more 'oomph' than we usually find. we also had a GREAT wine (a valpolicella). made me want to try more from the list. One thing that was interesting and/or odd, depending on your perspective: the pasta had a sauce which was ragout of quail. I was surprised the dish included, well, a quail. Bones & all. Lots of tiny bones. It was a really good dish, but picking through the bones was ... different. I would definitely eat here again -- not sure i'd get a quail dish again ... read more

Very good and friendly service. Also, my bolognese was perfect. I enjoyed every bite and wish I could have finished it. As it was, I was only able to eat half. I would order that dish every day if I lived nearby. I definitely recommend. read more

I just spent a week in Munich and stumbled across this gem on the last night there. I would highly recommend this place. I ordered the lasagna and it was amazing. Everything is reasonably priced as well. I just wish I would have found this place at the beginning of the week because I would have returned. read more
