We recently moved into our Modern Farmhouse built by Southwest Homes (that's my fireplace they recently posted with the windmill fan :)) - we are BEYOND happy with the work that Jason, Caleb, Nancy, Ernie, and their entire team put into making our dream home come true. As with any construction process, there were a few "bumps" in the road along the way, but Jason has built a team of people that react and respond in a way that helps resolve any concerns and ultimately deliver a home that I couldn't have even imagined when we started. The relationships with the various vendors give you a variety of choices with excellent prices. From lighting, plumbing fixtures, flooring, and so on - you're not boxed into a situation where you're told "pick one of these 3, anything else is an upgrade" like so many "custom" builders now-a-days. They are also flexible and work with you if you'd like to find your selections elsewhere, or even bring your own (we had a chandelier from our wedding that we've hung over our dining table, and pendants that my wife found at The Findery in Waco). Throughout the selection process, they keep a running total of your allowances and help to guide you through the process to avoid any surprise overages at the final closing - this might be common in home construction, but the willingness of Jason and Nancy to get on the phone and discuss any quote questions, provide breakdowns of invoices, and ultimately make sure we understood what we were paying for went a long way towards helping us make the best decision possible. Another tremendous plus is the amount of care the Southwest team has for their product and their clients. Caleb has been our Project Manager/Superintendent throughout the entire build, and even though we've already closed and are officially "done" with the build process, he's come out (a 40 minute drive from College Station) to our house on several occasions to take a look at anything we might have a question on, or if we noticed something that we'd originally missed on our punchlist. We recently completed our 120-day walkthrough after we moved in, and the SWH team has stood by what they committed to in the build process, taking additional time to address anything that we noticed in the weeks and months right after we moved in. Jason and the Southwest Homes team truly are in it for their clients, and they've proven that - I've seen a few reviews referencing frustration with previous ownership (Roger), and all I can say is: Give Jason a chance to make it right, they'll take care of you. We have moved into our new home and are getting settled so I'm just now taking a moment to thank Southwest Homes for providing us with excellent customer service before, during, and after construction. Jason has personally called us a few times just to make sure there aren't little items that need to be addressed. To me that is amazing...what business' today actually calls just to make sure everything is good and you don't have issues. This is the second custom home we have built in the last twelve years so we have been down this road before and know it isn't always a smooth road but in the end your get exactly what you want, and don't have to settle for a cookie cutter home. This time my husband and I went to four builders to interview them so that we could get a feel for their teams and price quotes. I think it is very important to find a company that truly works as a team because you will become part of their team, especially during the building process. Southwest Homes is an awesome team and have the patience of saints. I think we were blessed to have found them and are so happy we decided to choose the Southwest Homes team. We live in Lee County about an hour from their office off of a narrow two lane county road and our home was finished much sooner than most homes being built in our area. I know fast isn't always best however, they finished our home in a very timely manner and with excellent attention to detail. I have referred them to new neighbors looking to build and to friends at Church...now I'm referring them to you. Unlike the cheesy commercials you see on TV where the actor says they are a paid spokesperson, I can assure you that my husband and I have not received anything from Southwest Homes to write this recommendation other than a home we love and are proud of. read more

My wife and I and three children have been dealing with Jason and the Southwest Homes team for a little over a year now. And I can honestly say they have been great to work with, not to say there haven't been a few bumps along the way. But, nothing that Jason, Jimmy, Ms. Nancy, or Ernie haven't kindly help smooth out. For example: when we were close to move in, I was at the house putting some things together late one night and ran into an issue that concerned me. So, I emailed Jason and Jimmy because it was about 9:30 in the evening and I didn't want to call, but about 10-15 min after I sent the email Jason was calling to see what we might could figure out that night. When we first went into the office to meet with Ernie, we saw nothing that he was showing us that we liked. We went home and literally drew something out on paper and discussed what we wanted with him and Southwest Homes delivered us the home that we wanted. Now, after being in our home for over 6 months now, the Southwest Homes team has stayed in touch with us to make sure that we are happy and always answer the call when we have a question. My husband and I were very impressed with the way Jason listened carefully to our particular needs. Having had years of experience, he was able to guide us through some of our wishes and concerns. All of our other sons and son-in-laws are in the construction business; therefore, we understood beforehand just how flexible we needed to be with our time schedules. Jason was attentive to these schedules and frequently called to let us know of possible delays. Our concerns were met with courteousness and respect each time. His suggestions sometimes proved to turn out better than our original ideas. My experience with Southwest Homes overall was a good one. Midway during the building process the company's ownership changed hands. This caused some concerns for me but the new ownership took care of things really well. All of my questions were answered in a professional manner. My contact person during and after the build has been Jimmy and he has taking care of any small issues that I've found 1 year later. Jimmy's attitude is what really impressed my wife and that's not an easy thing to do. My family and I are pleased with the Southwest Homes experience and we do recommend them to others. We've been in our new home for about 4 months. It was as good a building experience as we could have expected. They have their own design coordinator on staff who actually traveled with my wife to help pick out cabinets, fixtures, etc. Communication with the job supervisor was excellent...always responsive.
