When you get there the loud speaker announcement states they have appointments available within 5 days. I almost laughed because it's wildly inaccurate. I'd booked an appointment a few days before for the first one available - almost 3 weeks out. Even if you go by business days, it's not close to being accurate. Currently they'll let you sign in, get a number, wait for 30 minutes, then call your number, and at your window you'll be told to make an appointment and they'll refuse to help you further. It's absolutely bonkers and I've never seen anything like it. After I was told I could wait an additional 3-4 hours for the possibility of speaking with someone, I asked if like the DMV they could text me when someone can speak with me. No. No, they don't do that either. I left. I will say I ended up googling and found a great thread that talked about the different processes people have used to get into their non-working SSA accounts. I tried a few of them and was finally able to log in via IDme on an incognito window so I could download a statement of my account, which solved about half of what I needed. Overall, it was a pretty awful and extremely inefficient experience all around. Definitely would not recommend.

There wasn't anyone at the front desk - which is also the same reception for H&R Block - and there were papers strewn everywhere that should've been put away, because they said contradictory things: - No walk-ins until 2pm - They are not taking walk-ins today - There's a separate sign in sheet for walk-ins vs appointments - Etc. Super confusing. I ended up asking the guy what to do - he said to just sign in. Apparently there's only 1 sign-in sheet (not two like the paper said) and you can mark if you have an appointment or not. If you're applying for more than 1 person, make sure you write down everyone's names (or else the administrator won't count you, and you'll be bumped down the line). We had a few appointments cancel, so that made things go a bit faster. Once you're actually in the hot seat, it takes less than 5 minutes to do the whole she-bang. The administrator explained that it's the elderly who take way longer; their finger pads have been worn down, so it's harder to finger print them. Glad I don't have to go back here for another 5 years. The administrator was super nice at least.

He used racially charged and vulgar language toward her, repeatedly called her "stupid," and referred to her using profane and derogatory terms, including the "B-word." He assumed she was driving illegally without any basis and attempted to intimidate her by loudly identifying himself as a police officer, clapping his hands aggressively, and escalating the situation. A woman who identified herself as his girlfriend and who stated she was also an officer from Danville who was also off duty, arrived on the scene and was witnessed telling Officer Williams to calm down due to his erratic behavior. They both later provided false information to CHP about who was at fault for the accident. After researching we could only find her last name has the letters BAN in it. This kind of conduct is unacceptable, especially from someone entrusted with upholding the law. Officer Williams' actions were not only unprofessional but dangerous and discriminatory. This is a beautiful library, very modern and state of the arts. It looks like a Barnes & Noble…read moreinside, not like a stuffy old library. It is bright and airy, very spacious with many rooms such as a homework center, a technology lab, a teen center, and an Arts and Science Discovery Center. That's why it's called a Library and Learning Center. It even has its own bookstore run by the volunteers Friends of the Library and they have a large selection of gently used books. Having been in many of the libraries in the Bay Area and as a parent, I think this is one of the best libraries around.

As a parent who has been to most of the Contra Costa libraries, I think this is the best one for…read morekids. This library has a beautiful outdoor covered area - great regardless of weather. The children's area is also large, allowing kids to explore and get wiggles out. My kids especially love the daily activities, like finding the blue dragon to win a sticker.
