I strolled by after being attracted to the clothes that were hanging outside on the rack. I was really looking for accessories. Luckily they were just starting to close but the lady behind the counter was super helpful. I didn't like the price points for some of the necklaces ($59?). I told her that I was looking for pieces that were primarily black colored so that I could wear them to work. She showed me the few that she had (which I didn't particularly love). I ultimately found a cute owl necklace and some earrings that I absolutely loved. The earrings were ombre and could be dressed up or dressed down. I spend about $60 on the necklace and earrings, a bit much but pieces that I was very happy with. The lady helping me had a thick Chinese accent. She was super helpful and friendly. I can't speak to any of the clothing because I didn't have enough time to bruise. The store is TINY. I will be back to look at this place some more, when I actually have time! I was walking by and decided to step in to browse. So glad I did. The selection of clothes is fashionable and modern, high quality. Price point is higher than the boutique next door. I think that the boutiques compliment each other. I found some signature pieces at prices comparable to department store pricing. Some Yelpers have noted that the owners and sales persons are pushy. I didn't see it that way, Simone was quite helpful. She had a keen ear in listening to me and eye in assessing my style and likes. She suggested items within my budget (which I told her how much I wanted to spend...she's not a minder reader after all). I didn't feel pressured. I bought a taupe colored modern summer weight blazer (womens tuxedo cut with hi low framing, 3/4 quarter sleeves) and a 36" pendant necklace of green agate (actual semi-precious stone, not costume jewelry). I have a Achilles heel for jewelry made of real stones.=-) Also, don't be afraid to negotiate on the pricing, it can't hurt to ask. (I know...I know...I'm not really conditioned for bargaining myself...but they won't be offended). read more

What a little find. I was walking around looking for some lunch and stepped into this boutique. Lily, is an amazing store owner and she knows about her fashion. I mentioned I was from New York and she picked out all the perfect pieces that would be something I would look for in New York as well. She has an eye about what styles go best with body types. Everything she grabbed for me was perfect. I walked out with a bag full of adorable and stylish items. A little piece of Chinatown in Midtown... The rack outside caught my eye as I was leaving Heart Clothing Boutique next door. I spotted a potential ugly (but chic) Christmas sweater for an upcoming ugly Christmas sweater party (tan with white reindeer all over). $70?! Uh...no, thank you. All I found inside was an array of overpriced, sub-par quality pieces fit for either young China girls or old China women (I'm Asian, I can say that). You know when things are almost cute? Well, think two or three notches down from that. The owner was very nice, pointing out pieces I might like (all of which I hated). I peeked in while I was next door at Hearts. I'm more conservative in style, so I personally liked that their clothes were more simple as opposed to having to dig through random Native American inspired hipster clothes to find something I like. The lady that helped me was a little pushy, but nice. And she actually did pick a dress that flattered me way better than what I had grabbed. The prices are on the higher side, but they're willing to negotiate. And I honestly do not see much of a difference in price points with other boutiques in Sacramento. It's not high quality clothing, but it's not low either. And the prices aren't extravagant, they're just not a bargain. They're still relatively new though, I think the woman said they opened two years ago. So I think once they have established themselves they'll have more clearance stuff to compete with other boutiques in the area. I wish I can give some of the posts here negative stars. I see some of their points with the high prices and pushy sales people. But that is no way an excuse to get racist. And I'm Asian. No, it's not okay. Overall, my experience was average to pleasant (3-4 stars), but the extra star is for encouragement if the negative reviews are the kind of people that they have to deal with. read more

Today I planned to do some IRL shopping, accompanying my usual "buying online and returning if it doesn't fit" routine. I was planning to go to Hearts next door, but Ladybuggz was open already and I was arriving just before noon when Hearts was supposed to open. The owner welcomed me in and was, as other reviewers have said, a little pushy. This would've scared me away if I had just been in the mood for browsing, but I was definitely in the mood for actual buying and I feel like the owner could smell the $$$ on me. Immediately she starts picking out things for me. I was a bit dubious that anything would fit me in the store as I was getting the fore-mentioned Asian vibe. Note: I'm petite but busty and I have been shopping in Asia before so my hopes were not very high for this being a successful trip. Owner lady throws about half the items in the store in their teeny tiny dressing area. Again, I am not expecting for this be anything less than humiliating. But, I went for it. Of course there were items that were not even going to fit over my shoulders. Then again, the owner ended up suggesting some pieces I would've never picked myself and I ended up purchasing. We had a fun time with me modeling for her and she was very encouraging, suggesting accessories and combos. She really does have an eye, is a respectful salesperson and isn't trying push certain things on you if she can tell you're uncomfortable or just not into it. I think my positive experience today also had to do with me being open minded about having the experience of having a sales person be helpful and offer suggestions. I ended up spending a fair amount of money but I am so excited to wear the pieces I bought today. Planning to return all the stuff I just bought online in favor of these higher quality items. Terrible return policy. They point to a small print on the cash register that there are no refunds. Then I'm told that all sales are final, despite the same sign stating store credits for returns. The store clerk then tells me to come back tomorrow to talk to the owner. I shared that I made a special trip to come here and don't want to come back tomorrow. Can she please call the owner to sort this out. It required some convincing, but she called the owner and the owner agreed to an exchange, as they should per the sign. I'm also told by the clerk that I must not understand shopping in small boutiques. I'm floored by the rudeness and hassle to exchange items. I shop in boutiques all the time because I want to support them and typically boutique stores are appreciative and have a strong focus on customer service. Obviously not at Ladybuggz. read more

Ladybuggz Boutique is my favorite store in town! All the colorful clothes are very stylish that I can wear them go to work or go to parties, easy pieces to take for the trip that will not wrinkle. Lily the owner is a wonderful help too! She knows exactly which piece will look good on me, not pushy at all. I enjoy for her to bring all the outfits to me and try them on, so I don't have to worry about putting outfits together.... there are jewelry and scarfs and shoes to go with every outfit. Ladybuggz ... I would not recommend this business!!! I can't believe that the staff would not be truthful. I went on Sunday to purchase some clothing and I loved all of the items I was shown, but the prices were too expensive so I asked the seller "can you make me an offer?" She said "20% off for the first dress and 50% off for the second item", which was a blouse. I was so happy for the staff persons offer. When I returned home and looked at my bill, there was no reduction on either item. The first opportunity I had to return the clothing the salesperson said she did not tell me I would get 20% off for the first dress and 50% off the second item! I am so mad ! The salesperson then informed me that we don't give returns, only store credit. I would give less than one star if that option was available. read more

I don't really write reviews but this is a really Awesome boutique!!!! I have been here a few times and I really love the selection of clothing here because they're so unique, especially their jewelry and dresses. The sales lady was so nice and helps me a lot with matching out my styles. I really get noticed whenever I wear their outfits and my friends always ask me where did I get something so unique (my friends shop at department stores so they now want to buy something unique too lol) I will say however that the store is somewhat small but that's exactly why you are so welcomed when you go in. The items here are a bit of the pricy side but the quality and make is so worth it not to say that you can't find these elsewhere (I studied fashion a few years so I know about clothing manufacturing :) ) Last Friday, I was there again and the girl at the shopped recognized me and was really excited to see me return and again helped me pick out and other classy outfit (blue long dress with peacock pattern, jewelry, etc) for my saturday party . The price was at the end was a little more than I can afford so I was having a hard time deciding if I should buy them but the sales person (I think it's the owner) offered me a big discount so I was able to buy my new outfit and meet my budget at the SAME TIME !!!!!!! I don't know whether to give this place 1 star or 5 - for the grade A swindling skills. Here's how my experience went: while visiting family in the Sacramento area, I decided to kill some time by popping into some boutiques. When I arrived here, right behind a lovely young woman who had her mom and daughter (family of three), I was ignored for about 15 min. The saleswoman even treated me like I was in the way. She made suggestions for the lady, and kept telling her everything looked wonderful on her skin tone. Finally, seeing that I was standing there with clothes in my hand after helping myself, the lovely young lady customer told the saleswoman that she might want to help me. The saleswoman suggested a top I didn't care for, to which I responded "oh, thank you for acknowledging my presence, but no thanks." I saw items (same Bobeau brand) that I had seen and bought at Nordstrom Rack for $29, that were $79 here! But, after being ignored for most of my visit, I was determined to prove how much I could really afford, and this, my friends was my down fall. On my mission to tout my Silicon Valley dollars in Sacramento, like a Westerner in a third world country taking advantage of the currency conversion, I bought a dress I didn't really care for, and some leggings . Coincidentally, these looked amazing on my skin, the saleswoman informed me. She wished she had my skin color. That's the first time I've ever heard a fair skinned East Asian woman say she wants brown skin - this should have rang alarm bells. Each item was about $80 (everything is about $80 each, rule of thumb). The customer before me completed her transaction, but not without a credit card being declined. The saleswoman put away her ass-kissing lips. I made the purchase. I then went next door and found five things I liked, and amazing customer service. 10 minutes after my purchase here at Ladybuggz (why the spelling!?), I attempted to return one item - the dress. The ink was still wet on my signature, but no...no refunds. Store credit only. I didn't want to bother trading one rip off for another, and left. Lesson learned: check yo hubris. Also, check Yelp reviews prior to entering, there are plenty of warning stories I missed. One more tip: the saleswoman will tell you whatever you try on looks amazing on your skin/eye/hair color, and she loves your skin/eye/hair color, and not everyone can pull this off, but with your skin/eye/hair color, you can. Added to the list of things I will die wondering: Was this reverse psychology? Was I ignored purposefully, knowing it would spark in me the angered revenge of foolish spending? read more

I needed a silicon gel strapless bra since I was already downtown and I didn't want to drive across town to Target for one. I called Ladybuggz and owner confirms she sells bras. Upon arrival, she did not stop talking for 10 minutes distracting me the whole time and didn't tell me how much it was. I assumed it had to be less than $15. Once she rang me up, she had me sign a receipt for a $50 bra when it's only worth $5, $15 the max. WTF. Oh hell nah. That's exactly what i told her. I said I'm not signing this receipt so she needs to credit me the charge. She looked dumbfounded and said she doesn't know how to reverse the charges. We looked at each other for 3 seconds and the longer she stared at her register, the more I got angry. I told her I'm not signing for anything and she BETTER not try to forge my signature either. So I left unsatisfied and confused as to why anyone would behave that way to a customer. Using distraction as a strategy to make a sale. I'm sorry but it didn't work on me and hopefully it won't work on anyone either. read more

I mentioned I liked dresses and would like to try it on. As we were walking back to the dressing room, she snagged another one off the rack. The store was nice and neat, but nothing really caught my eye. Clothes were not my style and quality looked cheap and I could tell it was imported from Asia. I mean, look at the person sitting at the counter. (Sorry, but I just have a sense of who's a true China woman.) She was really nice and friendly and even greeted me with a rack of clothes, though she didn't really seem to care if she made business off of me or not. Lilly has a great eye for style. She picked out items for me that I would have never picked out for myself that looked great on me. I had been shopping for the "perfect dress" to wear for my birthday party and was disheartened. I had already tried on about a dozen dresses and could not find that "perfect dress". Lilly found three dresses that I could not leave the store without within minutes. It was a lot fun modeling the clothes. Loved the one-on-one attention. I felt pampered. I had such a great experience that I brought my friend to Ladybuggz a few weeks later. My friend left the store with a great dress and wanting to buy more. Second time around our shopping experience was with Simone. My friend said she would come back too. The dresses were good quality and a bit pricy, but worthed. Lillly and Simone will let you bargain the prices with them. Lilly and Simone may seem a bit pushy to some people, but that does not intimidate me. If I'm not looking to shop, I know how to let the salesperson know that I'm just browsing. Make sure you really want to keep what you buy, because they don't accept returns. read more

Watch out ladies. They say you're getting a great deal on 'designer clothing', yet you can find these same pieces at low end discount stores. Lily and Simone are incredibly pushy saleswomen, and together, they can be VERY overwhelming. I should have learned my lesson the first time I came when I met just Lily. She was quite nice and tried to be helpful but was simply too pushy and I had to save my friend from splurging on some low-quality jewelry. Then I came a second time on a whim and they both ganged up on me shoving clothing and jewelry on me to try even though I wasn't looking at anything in particular, just browsing. Let me start by saying that I am not one to write many reviews but the experience I have had at Ladybuggz Boutique in Midtown Sacramento is one that I cannot keep to myself! I am a devoted boutique shopper and regularly frequent Sacramento's best boutiques (Madam Butterfly, Serendipity, Face It, Sugar Shack, Crazy Mary's etc.). Last Saturday, July 15th, my friend and I visited 'Heart' boutique and decided to check out the place next door. The rolling rack outside is a smart idea and I believe they probably benefit from some of 'Hearts' loyal customers. Unfortunately, the items on the rack are not a real draw into the store but we decided to go in and give it a shot anyhow. Extremely poor quality of clothing, ridiculously high prices (and for "no name" brands), "dollar store" decorations throughout the boutique and sales people/shop owners who call every single customer "sweetie" the entire time you are trying to shop! Very annoying! My real complaint, however, comes from my experience today. Earlier in the week, when I went to wear one of the dresses I had bought, I discovered it had 3 small stains (possibly ink stains) on the top of the dress that I had not noticed when I purchased it. It was a light pink dress (chiffon like fabric) and the stains were noticeable enough that I wasn't willing to keep it at the price of $96. I went back to the boutique today and the same sales girl (also, shop owner), Simone Chan, was working. She recognized me from last Sunday and I pointed out the stains on the dress. She said she was sorry and went to look for another dress. They did not have the dress in my same size. She told me that the store policy is "no refunds" but that she would happily give me a store credit. I shared with her that I understand the need for such policies in small boutiques as I have been a boutique shopper a good portion of my life. I expressed my dissatisfaction, however, with the enforcement of such policy when it comes to defective merchandise. She then went through a series of excuses/contradictions as it related to their "store policy". She stated her credit card machine would not actually process a return. A few minutes later, when she realized I was not going to accept a store credit, she opened upon a small binder with what appeared to be instructions on how to process a credit through the credit card machine. She calculated the total of the credit she was going to give me along with the tax and she began attempting to credit my card. I thought we were on our way to a resolution. Unfortunately, she could not get the machine to credit my card. She, then, contacted the other shop owner, Lily Zhang, and they carried on a conversation in "chinese/japanese"...saying who knows what! After hanging up that call, she then returned to the approach of a "store credit"....asking me if I did not like the styles in their store? I calmly explained, again, that this had nothing to do with whether I would be able to find something else that I liked... but that this was definitely a matter of principle...especially at this point. She then commented on how she didn't have enough cash in the cash register since the store had just opened. So....are they really not ABLE to give a refund...or just NOT WILLING? I walked out of the store with my damaged dress and left my phone number on a business card. The worst experience I have ever had! BEWARE!!! read more
