I had the pleasure of meeting Erinn today. When I arrived at the Barber Shop it was very clean and a relaxing vibe. She was very professional and patient. I did book a consultation prior to my appointment since it was my first time at the Shop. I have CCCA and wanted to discuss the best options for my face shape. I loved that she presented me with options and we took the more conservative approach first. I was able to determine that I wanted my hair cut shorter. I was happy with my results and the re booking process was extremely easy. I will be returning to Lady Clippers to see Erinn. read more

I have been going since March of 2025 and I've appreciated the work I've gotten done! I have a very unique hair style (braids, half shaved head) that's I'm able to get done there and they've always done an amazing job! They're super cordial and I see from the variety of clientele (difference races, genders) that they do an amazing job on anyone that comes in. :) They're also very accommodating and will offer to buy hair for brading if needed and give overall great hair care advice! read more

Highly recommend Erinn, who fit me in last minute after I got my comb coils done! Have to also shoutout Dominique who I've been going to for almost a year now. If you're looking for natural styles (comb coils, twists, curls; etc) go to her! I've been getting compliments all year for the different styles she's done and I can't recommend her enough. :) read more

I had ear length hair and have not had a haircut in three years. Cut for $45.00, shampooed and coils for $65.00 done March 27. Not impressed. I showed the barber a picture of a women's tapered cut and yet she cut too much on the back and it's uneven. I have a James Brown cut!!!!! Also, this young Lady wanted to schooled me on maintaining my natural curly hair. I've been rocking curly hair before she was born. Now I understand why they request payment in advance. Once my hair grow out a little I will need a better cut. read more

Chris was great and did an amazing job with my undercut! The whole experience was easy, I'll definitely be back! After about two years, I decided to get an undercut again because of the summer heat, and I'm so glad I found this place. I moved to the city less than a year ago and was searching around on Google for a barber when I came across them. Highly recommend read more

I can't recommend going here enough. Erinn did an amazing job with my big chop. I have wavy not quite curly hair and a pretty round face. I was looking to go from long hair to an above the shoulders wolf cut. I feel like this haircut is what my hair always wanted to be but I was too tied to boring cuts to consider it. I do minimal styling (scrunch some gel maybe) and I love it every day. My wife insisted she needed to write this review because she loves the cut but my ADHD queen hasn't gotten around to it. My best friend is headed in today for her own big chop to give you a sense of how great this cut is. Thank you so much Erinn! read more

I love the shop. The vibe is fun and inclusive. Daisy is the only person I trust with my natural hair needs; however, anyone in the shop can you right. I highly recommend. read more

I just had an impeccable experience with Daisy. I have longer hair, shoulder length and curley. She whipped my hair into shape in a matter of minutes (I was late, so we only had 20-ish mins to work with). She gave me shape, lift, and volume like I've never had before -- Thank you, Daisy!! The shop is clean, relaxed, laid-back. So happy to have found Lady Clippers, and can't wait to come back! read more

Love the vibe. Lady barbers is my new go to. Chris was amazing and sweet. Just like a daughter. My hair cut was just what I needed.

Thoughtful. Ambitious. Warm. Peak quality. A place I'm proud to call (hair) home. "As a queer, brownish, cis-man, it's the barber shop I never knew I needed." -Me. This shop graciously spits in the face of the patriarchy, and is a magnet for people beautiful inside and out. Go there. Soak up the vibe. You'll look and feel friggin fantastic when you walk out. read more

I moved to DMV not long ago and I've been wanting to cut my hair short for a while but couldn't find a place that cut women's hair with clippers. I found lady clipper on google and I couldn't be more satisfied with their service. Renah was so sweet, did exactly like the picture I showed her and was very kind and made me feel comfortable and confident about my haircut choice. Their website said they were busy until next week but I called and Lesley was so nice and fit me in for the next day. I totally recommend this place!! read more

Walked into Lady Clipper for my first time yesterday. Loved the vibe! Small shop with a winding staircase leading to more space. The shop was spotless with nice background music. My appointment was with the owner, Lesley. I was a tad early because I wanted to make sure I could find a parking space. I got lucky and parked three cars from the shop. As I walked in I was greeted warmly by Lesley who offered me a mask (I had one). She wrapped up with her client and directed me to her chair. I was so excited to be there! She took a look at my hair, asked me what I envisioned and went to work. Fifteen minutes later the cut was done! LOVED IT! To the bowl I went for a good wash, a little leave on conditioner and a light dab of setting gel to lock in my curls and done! Already made my next appointment. Thanks Lesley! read more

I haven't been coming to Lady Clipper since 2020. Lesley used to cut my hair regularly. She always hooked me up. I mean, I would get out of her chair feeling fresh! I haven't had the chance to get back in chair in a while, but Jo and Angelique have also been amazing. I usually walk in and just vaguely describe what I want and they make magic happen. Everyone is so chill and kind. I'm a forever client!! read more

So I decided (for myriad reasons) that I needed to shave my hair off. I've been to this location twice. The first time experience was lovely. The second time burned me BAD. Lady clippers does a "big chop" cut. $65 plus tip. I tried calling. Lol ..this place is like dating a Gen Z'er....no calls, just texts, haha... You book online and you also pay...AND tip before you receive your service. I'm not a fan of tipping ahead of time. Mostly because I'm pretty generous with tipping but if I have no clue what the experience and service is like...and if I'm pre-paying...i am going to do the absolute minimum for that tip. Which isn't my preference. It's street parking. I only ever come here mid week, so parking hasn't been too bad to find. You enter the shop from the upstairs entrance not the bottom one. You walk down a spiral staircase and voila...you're in the shop. Pop a squat and wait. The first time I came they did me solid. Shaved off mid-back length hair and left feeling great. It was right before Christmas and the kind woman who hacked off my hair was affirming and chill and took great care. Can't say enough! Truly. That haircut was a solid almost 4 stars. The next time I came in, it was about 8 months later. I booked with Angelique and it was by far one of the most horrifying experiences I've ever had. When it was time for my appointment, Angelique just seemed upset and mad. But you know, ppl in the service industry are humans and should be allowed to have bad days. So that didn't bother me. I just decided to stay quiet. I told her what I wanted, was like...listen...I want a curly mohawk, this is looking like a damn mullet, haha...I need some shaping in the back bc it's kicking out terribly at the base of my neck. Y'all....2 seconds into shaving my faded part of the cut...this woman clips my ear and it starts bleeding. Now I'm tough as shit so this kind of stuff won't make me flinch, but I FELT it. And suddenly Angelique is saying...oh you must have had a scab on your ear that came off and it's bleeding. Y'all...be fucking for real. She was already in a stank mood so I was like...whaaaaatever. I didn't even say anything. What proceeded was one of the most painful, rougH, MEAN cuts I have ever had. I have NEVER walked out of a barber with a SORE head. A SORE HEAD. Like I said, I have a tough as fuck head, and this cut had me WINCING. W-I-N-C-I-NG. When it came time for the cut part of the top of my hair...she was so brutal with it. I'm someone who will unapologetically ask a stylist to cut my hair until it feels right. So I was doing that, and she just wouldn't listen. She felt like she was getting more and more annoyed. When the cut was over she literally left before I was even out of the chair. I had hair all over my face and neck. The barber next to me who had a client in her chair...brought over a towel and helped clean me up This second cut was back in August and I swear I sat on posting this for MONTHS. But y'all...I still haven't gotten over it. A woman's hair is sacred. As a queer woman, it felt AMAZING to find a barber shop run by women of color who ensure you have a safe place to come get a BARBER cut. My 2 star isn't a reflection of the shop as a whole. Just a horrible experience with one barber on one day. read more

I've been to Lady Clipper twice in my search for a barber more convenient for my commute. I didn't want to leave my previous barber, but since I've moved, I can't realistically make it to her. Pros: decent location, booking system is easy and someone is always available, shop itself has a nice vibe, Daisy and Lesley were both personable The first time I went, I think Gabby cut my hair, and my cut was pretty basic. I have shaved sides and just asked for the sides to be cut to about a 1. The last time I went, I asked for the same thing with a fade. I also asked my barber, Daisy, to trim my hair on top. Unfortunately I must not have communicated what I meant by trim very well, since I'm now missing about an inch and a half off my hair, which is really shocking when it's in any state other than picked out. It looked okay in the shop, if a little short, but I was hoping I could stretch it as normal. Unfortunately, it's much too short to do my usual twist outs. I don't know how to style my hair anymore, and I feel so ugly. I've booked an appointment elsewhere to get braids tomorrow to try and save it. Advice/TLDR: patronize this shop over others in DC, but be very clear what you want from each aspect of your cut. My fade was done very well, but my hair is too short to style now. read more

I had a very... interesting.. "lob" done by another salon about 6-8 weeks ago. It was an uneven disaster and left all the volume on the back of my head, and was embarrassingly uneven. After spending time pondering and researching what to do, and letting my hair grow out a bit, I determined a back of the head undercut and cleaning up of the rest of the "Lob" was a good idea. Made an appointment with Jo. She listened to me, made me feel immediately comfortable, and did quite a great job on my undercut, so it's only visible when I pull my hair in a low ponytail. She trimmed up the rest of the "lob" as best she could, which was quite impressive since it was a disaster. It looks 100X better, even if it will still be in a ponytail most of the time. Undercut is very even. Shop is clean and cozy. Will be returning for another shave and trim with Jo in 6-8 weeks. Thank you Jo (Woodard)! I highly recommend her if you are looking for a female barber. read more

I have been going to Lesley for YEARS! I'm talking about before she even opened up her own shop! Back before she was the Lady Clipper! Lesley is the kind of Barber that is amazing at listening to what you want but can also feedback if you need it. Throughout my hair journey Lesley has been there to help me grow my hair out, cut my hair again, and provide suggestions on what to do next. No matter if you are a man, woman, child, bald, etc! She definitely can handle the job. I've been recommending Lesley for years and will continue so for years to come! read more

I always get a mid-high fade and they always got it right. The fact I even ask for a mid-high fade should let ya know I'm picky. I've only had two of the barbers. They go through the process with you and not just start cutting your hair. One gal is chatty in there but the rest are chill. If you visiting DC, take the chance here. read more

I started going to Lesley when she was in another shop - many many years ago. Her professionalism and skills made it a no brainer to follow her to her own shop. Fortunately, I work in downtown dc so for me the shop location is super convenient. However, I live near Baltimore and have no problem coming to her shop on a non work day. She's just that skilled!! My philosophy is either I can spend either time or money and I prefer to spend my money to ensure I don't waste my time. Their prices are well worth it - Lesley and her team get you in and get you out - all while giving you an amazing experience. Let me also say that PRE PANDEMIC this shop executed a level of cleanliness that went above and beyond. Now that we are in the midst of a pandemic they've elevated their cleanliness even further. As Lesley told me yesterday - "Welcome Home".... and that's exactly what The Lady Clipper barber shop feels like - HOME! This place and type of experience isn't for everyone and that's ok - but when you are ready to elevate your haircut and turn it into an experience and a vibe come check out the ladies of the Lady Clipper Barber Shop! read more

Amazing service, great salon environment, and one of the best haircuts I have ever had!

This place seems way overhyped! I got a haircut with a simple design and even something as basic as this wasn't done well. It was overpriced, mediocre at best and that was even after a lot of back and forth with the Stylist Daisy. She came off as inexperienced and not very skilled. She seems like she still has a lot to learn. I'm disappointed and wouldn't go back. Maybe the other barbers are better. I debated back and forth before posting this because this is a black business and I want to support it. I also wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but I went based on all the positive reviews and wished someone would have given a more realistic or balanced response to this place. read more

I have been in search of a barber that listens and does what I want and finally found one at Lady Clipper. Lesley was very professional and attentive which was great. She was also patient and didn't make me feel bad that I was 5 mins late nor did she rush my hair cut which was appreciated. Space is clean and welcoming and the other barber in the shop seemed pleasant. Overall, a pleasant experience. read more

I was on the fence about writing a review for this establishment. The energy in this place was amazing. The ladies were very warm and inviting. The establishment was clean and very stylish. Gabby was the barber I choose and I was satisfied with my undercut and simple design. I'm giving them 3 stars due to the cons listed: Finding parking was challenging, $46.00 for a undercut cleanup and simple design was a bit much and honestly I don't think it was worth it. Lastly they debited the $46.00 prior to me arriving at the shop. My appointment was at 2:30 I arrived about 1:55 the money was taken about 1:40. I'm accustom to being charged after the service is provided or once I arrive. I don't think I'll go back or refer this establishment. However I strongly suggest you go and make your own opinion. I love this place. It's clean, friendly and while they seem to specialize in woman's barbering, they do men and women's hair. I went there a year ago when I chopped off all of my hair on my own.
