Came across this salon via Yelp and was not disappointed! Forget the high prices and traffic to go…read moreto a Vancouver salon, these gals in Historic Downtown Ladner got you covered! The salon is clean and inviting, minimalist hip esthetic that you would find in a big city. All of the employees were extremely nice. Even the cup of coffee I was brought while I waited was great. Emily was absolutely incredible! She was such a pleasure to be around, listened to what I wanted, executed my requests like a boss, and was very professional and accommodating. I have super curly hair and requested a cut out of the norm, she was happy to oblige and did a fantastic job! Her personality was warm and made me feel at home. I would definitely recommend Atomic and Emily to everyone I know in the area! Thank you for making me feel and look awesome!

I was initially so excited about this salon. My daughter had a wonderful experience with Shannon. I…read morebooked in with Sara for a cut and color. I was very clear about wanting an ash or cool blonde. Initially the first "reveal" of color showed a greeny-pinkish disaster and Sara said that it would be better "next time" and was willing to let me leave like that. This was the first issue. I couldn't leave like that, so she re-bleached my hair and put on a toner again. I left with strawberry blonde hair with orange ends that she said could not be colored. That visit cost $230. Sara told me she gave me a discount because she had initially left the toner on too long. I cancelled my subsequent appointment because I was not thrilled with the whole experience. I went elsewhere and they gave me the ash blonde I wanted including the ends with no problem. Atomic was really good about following up and wanting to know why I had cancelled with Sara as I had expressed to the receptionist my dismay at paying so much for a service that was in no way satisfactory. They said I had a free cut and color waiting there as a compensation. I didn't ask for this complimentary treat, but four days ago I decided to go in and I asked for Sara so there would be no hard feelings. Mistake! Even as I went to sit in the chair I asked her if it was okay and she just deadpanned back, are you okay? I was in and out in 17 minutes. She didn't wash my hair or offer to condition it. She offered no beverage. She told me my hair was too damaged to color and basically made me feel like total crap. She said she wouldn't touch my hair and would refer me to a colleague. At one point she held up a piece of my hair and rolled her eyes. Just so immature! This was supposed to be a level 3 highly professional colorist. I felt like I was in a bad sit com. As I'm leaving she asked "do you want to buy product?" and even that was so unprofessional, instead of offering to take me through what might have helped re-condition my hair, she just said it in a flat and completely unpleasant way. I went in today and met Emily who was very sweet. She said she would color my hair, but only if I got another cut (she charges $58) and a $20 hair treatment. She would consult with Sara but thought the color would be complimentary. The whole thing left me feeling I'd been given the runaround. I cancelled with Emily, just because this salon made a treat turn into something very different. It's a pretty salon and it's staffed with tons of stylists, and has a great reputation! I feel I got paired with the wrong person, one who lacked professionalism and maturity and spoiled what was a good experience for my daughter and also could have been for me. There are limited options for a higher end salon in Ladner and Tsawwassen but I would rather drive downtown than go through this again. So disappointed.

River's Mist is one of those hidden away gems you would NEVER know about unless someone told you…read moreabout it. It's behind the Keg in Richmond (near Steveston Highway and No. 5), inside the River Health Club on the bottom floor. I only came across them because I had a voucher deal for a mani/pedi/massage. I was shocked what a good deal it was, so much I was not expecting much, but I was wowed. They accomodated my husband and I (he had the massage/I had the mani/pedi). The lady that did the mani/pedi was super nice (place was clean and calming with spa music playing). My nails and toes are all shiny and pretty and I felt pampered. I think it's unfortunate this place is so hidden away because I haven't had good service like this in a long time! I would go back here if I was in the area, and if they had a good special.

When I got a hold of the front desk, a guy named Marc answered the phone, he was very pleasant and friendly and answered all the questions I had. I book my appointment and then proceeded to look on line a saw a review, I read the review and already started to disagree with what was said. So I was very curious of what i was about to walk into. I arrived at my appointment a few minutes early and Marc greeted me with a warm welcome and told me that Carrie would be read to take me in in a few minutes, he offer me some water and started to explain the process that I was about to go through. Shortly after Carrie came out and introduced herself.....she was ver bubbly, friendly and all smiles. I followed Carrie into the spa, it was very peaceful when I walked in, Carrie introduce me to Susana and told me that she was the lady that was going to be working on my Mani and pedi. I was brought into a room and got ready for my massage. An hour went by and let me tell you, I felt like jello.....it was amazing the long strokes, the pressure it was exactly what I need. I was very impressed, after words I got dressed and moved to the pedicure bench, Susanna was great, very personable and she made sure that I was comfortable. When Susanna finished i felt rejuvenated and relaxed. When all was said and done, I myself became fan. The prices of Rivers Mist Health Spa are very reasonable. I think the quality of the service is impeccable and because the prices are so low, I will be back......Maybe I will try the Asian fusion massage next or maybe I will get the 24 k gold facial......I look forward to going back.

So I want to start out by saying that aside from there being a few specks of polish on my skin, my…read morenails actually look pretty good and the experience itself wasn't bad. But where they lost a lot of points for me was their covid protocols. While another nail place I went to gave us our own file and buffer, 4 seasons still used equipment used on other people (which I'm hoping was at least washed before it was used on me). I had two ladies work on me, one on my feet one on my hands. The lady working on my feet used gloves while washing my feet but not while painting them, which didn't bother me THAT much since it's not like I'm touching my face with my feet. However the lady doing my hands was not wearing gloves and even used her fingernail to scrape something from my cuticle/nail. This is a little concerning since they did a hand and arm massage. Then the lady who was doing my feet finished the nails on my hands with out gloves and with out a mask (they were both wearing masks before). 3) Customer service was meh but nothing beyond that. The lady doing my feet missed the tops of my nails so I asked her to do it. For some reason she didn't know what I meant and it took a few minutes to communicate what I wanted. Then after finishing my nails, the lady went into what must have been a break room while my nails dried and I could hear her laughing and either talking loudly on the phone or watching videos and it took her quite a while to come back. All in all it was an ok experience. I had a gift certificate that I used up, but if I were to spend my own money, I don't think I'd go again. UPDATE: only a few days after, my finger nails started to chip

Sadly, I was told the staff member no longer worked here, so I showed the current staff photos of what I wanted done (which I've had done before with no issue) and they said they would be able to do it - which was an acrylic overlay french manicure on my very short nails. I normally do my own nails with gel/shellac, but I wanted acrylic this time. It wasn't until the woman started working on my nails that I realized there were no Covid protocols in place (with the exception of masks). I should have noticed beforehand, but there was only one other customer waiting for her pedicure to dry, and honestly? I didn't even think of it. My bad. I'm double vaccinated, but still...I had a pedicure at another salon last week, and they had excellent protocols in place. The initial procedure was rough - I pulled my fingers away at least twice as the tools used were either too harsh or the heat was too much. This isn't something I'm used to experiencing. The technician (owner?) seemed very rushed and sort of put out that I had come in...and I'm not sure what the rush was considering I was the only one in the salon. I probably should have gotten up and left, but that felt so final. Again, my bad... In the end, my nails were a 6 out of 10 - I went home and filed them to the correct shape afterwards, and my fingertips were throbbing from the earlier filing. Again...not something I'm used to. My nails look okay after I filed them, but the rough filing/handling/heat and home after-care are enough that I won't be back to this salon .
