Never again! "Turned off" to a "bunch of bull" from Turnbull Plumbing. Not reliable or trustworthy…read more I had a 10 o'clock appointment on February 25th to get a leaky sink sprayer replaced, see about installing a new dishwasher , and repositioning a water heater. They didn't even have the professional courtesy to call and let me know they were running late. At 10:45 AM they still hadn't showed up so I called the office. The receptionist offered no apology, just said they were running late. (Duh!!) I replied, so why didn't someone call?? She simply responded, 'I'll get back to you and hung up.' The plumber finally arrived at 11:45 AM with a journeyman, and offered no apology. In fact, he was not a very pleasant or communicative person, although with each thing he looked at, he informed me there was a problem. To make a long story short, what I assumed might be $200, was almost $500. Unfortunately, I was told upfront, their policy was not to give estimates so I took my chances. I had used them in the past, as had neighbors in my condo development and been happy. THIS IS A VERY DIFFERENT COMPANY NOW and not for the better! In hindsight, I believe the 'no estimates' is their sneaky, dishonest way to inflate prices. They seemed to have no problem cashing my check within 24 hours , yet they've refused to respond to phone calls and VM to get back to me with a price breakdown. Not only is this terrible customer service; it's unreasonable and unprofessional. I've waited over two and a half weeks to hear back from them to no avail. Shame on YOU! Andrea D., Bath

well after my own interaction with Mr. Patterson over the phone and reading the reviews here I am…read moremuch more inclined to believe Jennifer B's review above. I called versatile plumbing and heating looking for someone to come out and provide an estimate for an entirely new heating system (boiler, baseboards, piping, all of it) in a residential home. Before even asking anything about the house or the job he instead asked how many other people I had looking at the job. When I said that I have had 2 other people look at the house and am looking to have 1 or two more estimates before making a decision he said that he was not interested in a job if more people were going to look at it. When I asked why he indicated that if there were more people looking at the job then I was just interested in comparing all of the estimates and choosing the cheapest one....Which is exactly true...because thats how business and estimates work. So apparently if you want the job to be high quality and competitively priced Versatile Heating and Plumbing is not interested in providing the work. I cannot say anything as to the quality of their work as he has not done any work on my home. But as a professional myself I would not trust any business that discourages getting multiple opinions and estimates. I imagine if I had gone ahead with Versatile a heating system would get installed but it most likely would be overpriced for the installed product. After one single conversation Mr. Patterson and Versatile Heating and Plumbing are definitely not worth my trust. I would suggest you call around...there are plenty of other plumbing and heating businesses out there willing to provide estimates and honest work.

I called Augusta Natural Gas to get a quote to replace our water heater. A technician came out,…read morestood at the door for less than two minutes, confirmed that the water heater needed to be replaced, and left. He took a few pictures and that was it. He told me he would email me a quote. After waiting, I followed up with Augusta Natural Gas twice over the next two weeks because I still had not received anything. With no response, I ultimately went with another company. That company took the time to explain our options, provided a quote, and completed the replacement that same week. Three weeks later, Augusta Natural Gas finally sent me their quote -- which was approximately double what the other company charged. Then, a few weeks after that, I received a $140 bill for "labor" for the technician's less-than-two-minute visit. I called to explain the situation and try to resolve the charge. Unfortunately, the customer service experience was even more disappointing. I was yelled at, accused of lying, and told not to call again. I remained calm and respectful throughout the conversation and ultimately had to hang up. I understand that companies charge for service calls, but charging $140 for a visit that lasted less than two minutes, failing to provide the promised quote for three weeks, and then treating a customer this way when they call with a legitimate concern is unacceptable. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Augusta Natural Gas and will be taking my business elsewhere.

Make sure to have him explain EVERYTHING about his pricing 'flat rate for the job' or else you will be accused of not asking questions (whether you did or not). Make sure to resolve any questions or concerns BEFORE paying the bill. If your husband calls him to discuss the price afterward, make sure to be on the call to dispell some of the mis-truths. When I attempted to address some questions/concerns, he admitted that he should have talked to me before making the executive decision and presented a possible fix but then didn't call me back as he said he would. I can accept that some of the issues happened because I didn't ask enough questions. He initially agreed that he should have asked first but later went back and wasn't willing to accept his piece when he spoke with my husband. Just not a good experience at all!

Was transferred to the service department who answered with "Hello?!", as if they were angry at me. I'm thinking, "Is this the service desk? Who is this? Did I do something wrong, why's he mad?" I explained my issue quickly to absolute deafening silence. The man said "Yeah....You have to get it fixed.", as though I was an idiot. That's why I'm calling you. I said, "right," thinking maybe I hadn't explained the issue correctly. I described the three-handle setup, what was occurring, that I was aware of the stems and that maybe the O-rings or boot were just worn, but I had butted my head against it for a week and needed a professional. More. Silence. Long stretches of nothing. Then a dry and bothered tone said, "Yeah, you need to replace the parts. You can't just 'clean' them. You'd have to call up and order and replace the parts, sometimes the whole assembly........." I said, ".......Right. Soooo...." I mean am I supposed to order this?? If I knew the right part and could fix it, what am I calling you for? I said calmly but confused, "Is it something I can just go to the store for? I looked at the stem, but don't see a model number or brand or anything to get the right size and make. I'm also not sure if it is just that or if the whole assembly is having a problem." The half-asleep, half-bothered sounding gentleman replied with, "You have to have a tech come check it out for you.......Gerber's common........" Okay, are you training me to do your job or are you supposed to help me? So send a tech!! How about, "A tech will have to come out to help you, I can set that up now for you if you'd like!" No, he was halfway through another explanation of, I think, why this is my problem and not his when I just hung up. The entire call had the air of, "Okay, and what do you want me to do about it? I'm just a plumber." I didn't even get to the experience of working with these people because of this awful, patronizing phone etiquette. If this is your business, please get someone half alive to answer your phones in the future so I can even get to the part where I give you my money, which is all I wanted to do.
