This was undeniably the worst experience I have ever had at any blood lab whatsoever, and…read moreespecially at this specific Quest Diagnostics location (314 West 14th Street, New York, NY 10014). In advance, I scheduled an appointment online through the MyQuest app for Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 8:10am. I arrived at approximately 8:00am for the appointment, and was "greeted" by the security guard at the front desk in the building lobby. As I entered the lobby, the security guard said to me "You are not going upstairs, Quest is not open yet. He (meaning the lab technician) is running late." When I asked the security guard if he had any specific details as to when the technician might be arriving, he responded back "I already told you he's running late. It could be 10 minutes, it could be 20 minutes, I have no idea. You can look for another appointment at a different location if you want, or go walk around outside." Evidently, the lab technician and the security guard were in contact with each other that morning. Since it was very cold out on the morning of Saturday, December 7th, I decided to wait in the lobby. The lab technician arrived at approximately 8:30am, 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment. The security guard said "Hey brother" to the lab technician as the technician arrived. The security guard accompanied the lab technician in the elevator to the 3rd floor (location of the Quest lab), and then the security guard returned down to the lobby and said to me and two other women patients waiting, "You all can go upstairs now." I have had my blood drawn in the past by this specific lab technician at this Quest location at 314 West 14th Street, New York, NY 10014 (I do not know his name) several times in the past, as I go for routine bloodwork every 3 months. While I find that this technician is never warm or friendly, and typically exudes little to no bedside manner, I have not had any specific issues with him drawing my blood in the past, other than the fact that he barely interacts with the patients and he does not demonstrate a warm, welcoming, or friendly demeanor. When me and the 2 other female patients arrived at the Quest lab on the 3rd floor, the lab technician was in the kitchen making what appeared to be coffee or tea for himself. He offered no apology or explanation to me or the two other female patients for being 20 minutes late to the lab. He did not greet us or say "Good Morning." Conversely, as he exited the kitchen area, he blurted out in a loud and rude tone "Absolutely no walk-ins today, it's Saturday!" As previously mentioned, I had a scheduled appointment for 8:10am, but one of the female patients was a walk-in patient, and she politely asked the lab technician if there was any chance she could be seen by him if he had some available time. He cut her off and said in a loud tone "No, absolutely not!" At that point, he proceeded to walk down the corridor to his lab station, and he yelled down the hallway for me by saying "David, come to Room #4." The rest of the session proceeded normally, the technician drew my blood in accordance with my doctor's prescription, and I exited the lab and the building.

If you need to get blood drawn, you must come to this location!! I was in and out in literally 20…read moreminutes and the staff couldn't have been better! My phlebotomist Mike was so great and professional! I have really bad veins and he was able to draw my blood in one shot! He was super nice and friendly!

Came in 30 mins ago as a walk-in. Before we could speak up,…read moreone of the phlebotomists said to my husband that he would likely be waiting for about 2 hours because he didn't have an appointment - meanwhile we walked here from the Dr office to get it done during an off-peak time. The waiting room had one person waiting who also ended up being a walk-in and was taken care of when we got in. Since then we have watched appointment holders come in and out and the phlebotomists are hanging out in their rooms on the phone instead of attending to my husband. Meanwhile there was. 10-15min gap of no one in the office but me and my husband. One of the other phlebotomists just saw me Standing in an open area between the two rooms as they were hanging out on their phone. As they saw this they closed the door. What kind of service is this??? And why did this phlebotomist automatically tell us there was a 2 hour wait... meanwhile he's on his phone in the room instead of attending to my partner. It's now been 45mins and we are the only people in the waiting room. There has been 1 person for an appointment in the last 20mins and no one else here. Meanwhile they close for their lunch from 12-1230 (an assigned break, according to their website) I don't want to make assumptions but this seems negligent. This is midtown manhattan - we are all working in this environment and imagine this location would be busy for a lot of business people - so if you can't hang with high turnover and be of service for a high client location then quest should hire those who can. ----- update. I had to ask the female staff member how long it would be as an appointment holder came in. She said she'd take us after the appointment - super grateful but why did we have to call to her attention that we'd had jobs to get to and we had been waiting with few other appointments showing As we entered her room, we noticed her phone in the front of the monitor playing a show of some sort (appears to be "the bear")... What kind of professionalism is this?

The first guy I met wasn't particularly friendly nor welcoming, which from the start didn't make me feel comfortable as a patient here. They have a peculiar policy where if you're under a certain insurance plan (that they take) they force you to change your PCP to someone they issue per "clinic policy." I've never encountered a practice like this that is so adamant on having you switch your PCP to someone you might've never met or even heard of and then provide proof. It was off putting and they could not explain why this policy exists. I couldn't tell if it was for billing reasons, or something else. Because I really wanted to get seen by one of their specialists, I reluctantly did it. Like another reviewer mentioned, some of the walls don't go all the way so noise and sound will transfer from room to room. Not horrible as a patient you're generally in a four walled room, but still a little uncomfortable. You come out and have to pass some of the administrative staffs backs doing their work. The space itself is hip, trendy, and modern. It definitely feels a little too profit forward at times when you see the price catalogue of certain treatments and their costs, like you're ordering a flu shot off a menu or something, which personally feels a little bizarre. Since Dr. Mbaye is leaving, it's unlikely that I'll return.

Billing agency emailed me to pay the full portion even though my insurance paid about 3/4 of the bill. I explained to the billing agent (took a screenshot of insurance paid portion) and the agent said he will follow up with me - however he never did and asked me AGAIN to pay the full portion of the bill. I also did not like the doctor I saw. She had a good office beside manner when I initially saw her - but when I messaged her with a question I had for blood work result she never followed up with me.
