My lab work is not as simple , and not everyone can handle it. One of the Worst Experiences I've Had!! !had to go to Quest FOUR times just to get routine lab work done because their scheduling system is nearly impossible to work with. Then, after making repeated attempts to get an appointment, I watched someone without an appointment get taken in. Completely frustrating and unacceptable. Came early around 9am, kiosks to make appointments as walk-in. Had to get that yearly blood work and tests and decided to come here since same building as where I see my physician. Bad thing is there's always some type of issue with this place. Whether is internet problems or staffing problems, appointment was 9:40am and didn't get seen until 10:30am. Quest Diagnostics managed to turn what should have been a routine specimen drop-off into a masterclass in incompetence. I was instructed by my doctor to drive an hour to a specific Quest Lab to drop off a time-sensitive specimen. When I tried to do the responsible thing and schedule an appointment, I discovered there is no way to make one. Phones go unanswered, the online system is useless, and when I finally reached a human being, I was told the location "doesn't exist." Apparently, it does exist--but only as a lab location, not a collection location--a distinction no one that works at Quest comprehends and makes it impossible to know when or whether you can actually drop off. The person told me you couldn't go there and I was told I could "go anywhere." So I did. Only to be informed later in the day that my specimen was invalid because it was more than an hour old by the time it reached the testing facility--an outcome that was entirely predictable given Quest's own contradictory instructions and extreme incompetence. This is not a minor inconvenience; this is a complete operational failure in a healthcare setting where accuracy, clarity, and timing actually matter. Quest Diagnostics should be embarrassed that this passes for patient care. In a value based care system these idiots should pay patients instead of getting paid. There is a special place in hell for the people who run this (lack of) operation; for people who don't care about wasting people's time, money, and medical effort this thoroughly--and Quest has earned it. Avoid if you have any alternative. Short their stock as the empire will crumble. And don't trust anything coming from these ding bats. read more

I opened a letter with a bill to my wife from quest for $45. I called the Quest business office to see if I could pay on the phone. I was on hold for about 10 minutes. The rep. said that normally I could but their system was down. I decided to pay by mail. The next day when in a book store, I decided on impulse to call again and see if they'd let me pay without actually having the bill in front of me or the billing number. I was on hold for maybe 22 minutes. I told the rep that the previous day when I called, their system had been down and now I was calling back to see if I could pay without the bill number. She said, "Do you have the bill number?" I replied, "I just told you I don't have it." She hung up. I know the call wasn't simply dropped because when she hung up it went to the automated satisfaction survey. I called the general quest number and asked for someone, maybe a manager, who could take a complaint against the woman who had hung up on me. She said that she'd connect me with someone. I said that I really didn't want to be in a long phone queue again. She transferred me into a phone queue. It estimated that I'd be waiting a long time, so I took the option to receive a call back. When I was called back, it was some customer service rep. who said she couldn't take complaints. She told me to call the corporate office and gave me the number. When I called the corporate office and chose the "Customer Experience Team" option, it was just a voicemail that told me to leave my name, phone, and e-mail, and I'd be contacted later. I decided to write this review instead. I urge you to deal with another outfit that have a little more class than this. read more

On the Quest website they charge $67.50 for a vitamin D test. My doctor ordered a vit. D test for me and they billed me $276.66 cents for this one test in spite of my excellent insurance (medicare and a costly supplemental). I can't even contact them to resolve the issue. I refuse to use this company and use Labcorp instead. No problems with Labcorp. read more

I had my blood drawn by Leticia who works in the 76th street location in NYC. Firstly, my internist didn't have an account with Quest, so it took a lot of effort and patience on her behalf to find the appropriate information. Secondly, I have terrible veins, no one can ever find them. Leticia found a good vein in literally one second! The process was quick and absolutely painless!! I did not have an appointment and even though we were the first ones to show up on a Saturday and Quest takes "walk-ins", a woman with blonde hair refused to take my test because "only Labcorp" did the test, she said. There were other tests for which I had prescriptions and she tried to discourage me from having these tests at 2 different labs. Labcorp is closed on Saturday. Clearly, she did not like to take "walk-ins". She took the script to copy it and did not reappear. Meanwhile I decided to try Atlantic Health who said they could take me as a walk in. They accepted the Labcorp script. People who need blood work typically don't feel well anyway and sometimes cannot stand for long as in my case. Not only was she difficult to deal with, but was down right rude. I won't go back there ever again. Very poor service. read more

I worked as a Phlebotomist for 32 years. I drew blood and trained new Phlebotomists. I had the worst experience ever at Broadview Heights Quest. The Phlebotomist was pleasant and friendly. I did not see her wash her hands. I was stuck 3 times. I have 3 large bruises. No pressure applied after needle removed. Tourniquet reapplied after miss to same arm although I had not stopped bleeding. Needle readjusted with each stick. If blood was obtained the serum was probably hemolyzed. I suggested she hold vein down so it did not move- no success. Are the Quest Phlebotomists certified ? I will not return there. So- 1. Very poor procedure. 2. Care quality- friendly with poor quality. 3. Office experience consisted of logging in on their computer. read more

They clearly don't know how to manage a queue or use common sense. I checked in at 8:10 am for a 9am appointment. Instead of attending to me, they prioritized and took multiple walk-ins who arrived 8:15, 8:30, 8:45 before they took me. They waited until my scheduled appointment time before they called me in. I presume that it's a system design flaw rather than ignorance, but if multiple techs are coming into the waiting room with only 2 or 3 people, looking me in the eye repeatedly and ignoring the fact that I've been waiting almost an hour, rather than thinking "hmmm...why is this person waiting longer than multiple more recent walk-ins who checked in after he did.". I finally finished at 9:45am--an unnecessary waste of a good portion of my morning. read more

Quest misleadingly lists City MD on their list of locations as a place to go for blood tests, but they aren't actually partners. When I got there they tried to charge me $100.00 because they don't give blood tests with first giving a doctors exam! Quest should not be listing these locations, or there should be a statement to let people know it will cost them $100.00. Totally false and misleading. I am a Medicaid Health first member, and their NJ labortory is balance billing me, which is illegal by federal law. Please be aware of these practices, they are, unprofessional and this is awful practice from their billing department. If you are a federal medicare member or a state medicaid member if your insurance pays a claim they can't balance bill you for a denied service, since any payment for any claim is considered "paid in full" and can't send a bill to the patient or member. read more

Was treated in a despicable manner at the 160 W 26th Street lab location (2nd floor). A short Spanish woman refused to accept the return of the 24 hour urine collection I had just completed. I returned it to the same lab that game me the jug with my Doctor beig in the same building. A tall black men told me I need to make an appointment to return it when the first I was there a tall black lady never told me nothing of the sort. They refused it so I left it on the locked door handle called my Dr. Castillo. These two employees should be fired as this was urgent as I am battling Kidney Cancer and they treated me like a piece of crap from the Streets. If they are not fired I will sue this site for pain and suffering, humiliating me infront of a packed waiting room. I booked a glucose test online multiple days in advance and received a confirmation. I waited 20 min upon arrival and then was told, oh you had to book this test for 10 am or before. (My appt was at noon.) When I asked why the online system enabled me to book a test at a time it wasn't available ... no good answer. I asked if I could please still do it because I was there, followed the protocol of fasting, and had time, and just received a no with no explanation. I had blood drawn to measure TSH on June 26, at the Latham, NY facility. The phlebotomist had no idea whether Medicare covered this common test or not. Red flag! It is now July 31, and my endocrinologist never received the results, nor did the cardiologist who should have received them too. I didn't either. When you go to the website, you are redirected constantly but cannot leave a message. The phone is worse - you can't get through to a human nor leave a message. Office experience only: What with everything being done online now, apparently I did not follow proper appointment procedure. THOUGHT I'd made an appointment, came in on time, had fasted the night before, etc. Auto check in could not identify me, and when an employee finally came out to the waiting room, she wanted to see my QR code. No QR code, no entrance. Annoyed employee told me I could wait for a walk-in opening, but Quest literature says be prepared for a 30-60 minute wait. I've never been asked for a QR code to see a dr., etc., before, so I was baffled. So I think appointment form could be laid out better, AND I felt the person I spoke to was surly. Learned my lesson, figured out the format, went to another location the next day. It was cold and raining, but when I was brought to the appropriate cubicle, there was no place to put either. Employee (phlembotomist?) was cold and essentially wordless. Had to do a urine test, and employee instructed me to take all my stuff with me. There were no hooks in the bathroom for my coat or other stuff. Have you ever tried peeing while holding your coat? There was a large open box with a sign on it saying it should be locked at all times. I put my stuff there. There was a sign instructing me to use "provided soap towelettes", but none had been provided. There was a paper towel dispenser with no paper in it, and there was no waste paper basket. It's easy to say Quest should have someone in charge of amenities such as hooks for coats and paper in paper towel dispensers. The part about short tempered employees is totally different - to me it begs a few questions. Are the employees paid well? Do they have (good) benefits? Is there a low turnover rate? If the answer to any of these questions is no, I won't expect the Quest Diagnostic experience to get any better. I haven't got my test results yet, so I have no comment on that, only on how unnecessarily unpleasant my two office experiences were. read more

Hey who remembers the awesome Quest Yelp event in 2018? "Hate Needles? Pre-Employment Drug Screening Is So Much More Fun With A Friend, Or 20." Quest isn't as immediately Yelpable as, say, a microbrewery with waterfront views, but I've been to this branch several times over the years and it's worked well enough. The workers have always been helpful so I'd guess that some of the problems mentioned in negative reviews are more about general issues like locating veins rather than Quest-specific problems. I walked in without an appointment and it was quick; the line has rarely been long during my (weekday morning) visits. read more

Awful experience at this location especially compared to the excellent service I received several months ago at a (now closed) Brooklyn location. I arrived early for my 9am appointment and was seen right away, so that was a plus. The nurse couldn't understand the lab orders my doctor wrote, despite it not being an issue at all at the last location (lab orders were the same and from the same doctor). The nurse said "I can't read this so I'm going to leave these ones off your lab" I kindly said no, I need to get all of this lab work done and she's snapped at me "well call your doctor then". I called my dr on his personal cell and gave her the info. She then gave me a device to sign and I very kindly asked what I was signing (a fair question I think). She said "you're just signing a form that states you are ___" where she proceeded to say my full name but completely mispronounced my last name so I just corrected her and she looked at me and just said "um... ok..." in a super rude tone. Then my blood was drawn which was fine but she was just so unpleasant. I tried to match her bad mood with kindness to see if that would help, as I understand everyone has bad days, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I was there to get really important blood work and the process is already stressful and not fun to begin with- this is bloodwork that determines next steps for an autoimmune disease that I have so it's not a small thing. Some compassion and kindness- and just general professionalism- would've been appreciated. I won't return to this location, ever. read more

Went to Quest for bloodwork. There is no receptionist, only a room with some chairs. I tried to check in on the machine; it did not recognize me even though Quest had texted me to remind me of my appointment. The other two people in the waiting room had the same experience. We knocked on the inside door and got no response, so we knocked more forcefully. Someone came out and yelled at us for knocking, blaming us for what was happening. I left and went to Labcorp, where the receptionist checked me in and gave me immediate service. I will never return to Quest - their operation is a complete failure. read more

I found out the Dr. Put the wrong billing code down and it came up experimental so insurance denied it. ALMOST 3 months later they just took my money. Went there for some of my routine labs & was greeted by a technician who, as soon as I entered yelled, "didn't like the way she said hello." Next demanded a credit card for an unspecific amount - I explained my Insurance requires No co-pays for all lab work & have been coming here regularly and even 2 weeks ago. She told me, "get out if you're not giving me your credit card." I refused and picked up my phone & said, I'll first contact my physician to notify him I'm being refused service. She calmed down & announced, "I'll do this but you can never return." Believe me, I have no intention to return. Waiting room not heated, freezing inside and out! Had appointment, checked in on their system and screen in office said i'm next but they took multiple people before me. One employee indicated i hadn't followed directions only to find out other employee had mistakenly had indicated i was serviced prematurely. Then insurance info put into system could not be found by employee so we reentered it. Staff Apologized but clearly demonstrates a lack of organization and communication at livingston NJ question labs. It is a health care diagnostic facility being managed less effectively than a hot dog stand. Hope the sample is processed correctly. read more

I can not believe at all locations there is no one who greets you. Its an open room with a stand to sign in electronically. Some people waste time and think someone will come out to help only to waste time before they realize they have to sign in. No window to ask a question. No human interaction. The "walk in" is a joke. You stay there until the last "appointment" person is call, which can be hours. I just had to drop off a sample an sign for it. ( there are people that just need to pick up what they need to give a sample ) it shouldn't take two hours to wait just to do that. Quest treats people like cattle. Vets are more compassionate. One star because the lady was polite even though the place was chaos and unorganized. She was clearly stressed and the iPad wait system was a total mess. Told me to come back two hours later (so i did) then the lady told me she had called my name out two hours ago... Also the condition my arm is in after getting blood work done is completely unprofessional and painful. They might need to teach their staff on how to draw blood without hurting the patient. My arm is so swollen and black n blue. I've tried reaching management and no answers. Finally reached someone from corporate office and she said someone should call me from this location. As a long-time physician referrer to Quest, I never had a problem with the quality, speed, or cooperation from Quest labs. But now retired, as a patient, my experience has been far different. Quest shines at performing routine lab work in-house, things like simple chemistries, blood counts, or urinalyses. But for more unusual tests that require referral to an outside lab, forget it. Four weeks ago, I had some exotic tests done that had to be forwarded to a California lab. I'm still waiting for the results, despite several calls to their customer service reps. Bottom line: know what tests your doctor is ordering. If it's something unusual, consider going to a university lab that deals with these requests more frequently. read more
