She quickly found the match, had a little fan handy for quick drying and I out the chair and into a drying station. I had some ingrown toe nails which were taken out, I received a foot scrub, a massage with a warm stone, warm towel on my feet, and a solution to make my heels softer. I started my pedicure with the owner who then proceeded to get up and service other people 3x. Already my precious a.m time was wasted and my nails hadn't even been filed when another worker stepped in. No explanation given, no introduction. The worker, Flor, did barely ok. Rushing through the filing, soaking, half-heartedly scrubbing my feet and annoyingly skimping on the nail polish. In addition, she did not help at all with my transition from the pedi to the drying chair. This is standard practice. No back/shoulder massage, which also used to be standard, was given. Their prices have also gone up from $25 to $30. Their low prices were their advantage. I could have gone to any other place in Manhattan for a little more and way better service. The nail tech was rough pushing the cuticles back and cut my pinky. She didn't apologize, just poured alcohol on it which burned for the rest of the appointment. I gifted my mom and cousins to do their nails for Mother's Day. I overheard an employee named Maribel, an asylum seeker I believe, asking my dad for an additional payment she called a gratuity. She said it was included in the service fee for the Holiday aside from the discount I thought we were getting. I was sadly mistaken, I later found out this was not the case and my dad refuses to tell me what happened with his cash. Just because we do not speak Spanish doesn't mean it's an opportunity for people like Maribel to take advantage of a Holiday that was supposed to be cheerful. Also the owner on the phone did not understand me when I called which was very frustrating. I was very close to coming in with authority. Very disrespectful. The paying customer should always be treated with priority. We go to do our nails, not to socialize with employees. Especially ones that practice extortion. I've come here twice, and twice, I've left disappointed. The first time I came here I was exhausted and after picking a nail color for my toes sat to relax for my pedicure. At the end when I looked down at my feet, I realized the nail color I had picked had been clumpy and the manicurist had still used the polish! I was kind of excited because I haven't done any kind of nail thing for almost 3 year, and the reviews are good and at its a few blocks from my place, so I thought I'd give it a try. I was getting a gel manicure and was going to get a pedicure too, but the woman doing it was sloppy because she kept taking calls to schedule appointments, so she was rushing through and getting gel all over my fingers, but blamed it on my short nails. Then she cut my thumb with her nail and I asked her to just take it all off, and she kept insisting that she should finish. Eventually she took it off, but even that was sloppy since I still have leftover blue under my nails. To her credit she didn't charge me, which I appreciate. For $45 on a Wednesday I got a gel mani and regular foot pedi. This place is clean sanitary and has massage chairs that actually work and the handles go up vertically when you're ready to step off rather than awkwardly struggling to go around it like most chairs are! The salon also had many concerning health issues: they had me put my feet in a tub that had not yet been cleaned, used already used nail files on my toes, and did not wash off any of the surfaces between customers.
