Terrible experience at Quest Diagnostics. My dad had a morning appointment for lab work and…read morefollowed instructions to fast overnight--no food or drink. When he arrived, they asked for a urine sample, but he couldn't provide one right then. They told him he could come back later to drop it off, but only with another appointment. He didn't book one and returned as a walk-in. Waited over an hour just to be called, then all he did was hand over the sample and place it on a cart inside the office. That was it--no further assistance, nothing. Total waste of time. It feels like they're forcing appointments just to look busy and pad wait times.

I had a disappointing experience at Quest Diagnostics today with a phlebotomist named Carla. I had…read morescheduled an appointment online for my glucose test, which was the priority, but I also had a requisition for two additional non-fasting lab tests. Unfortunately, the online system wouldn't allow me to add the other labs without canceling the glucose appointment, so I chose to proceed with the glucose test and planned to hand in the additional requisition upon arrival. I didn't think this would be an issue, especially since Quest accepts walk-in patients and I was going to be there for two hours. It seemed reasonable that the extra labs could be drawn during the same visit--specifically, one hour after drinking the glucose solution and again at the two-hour mark, for a total of three needle sticks. I didn't see the need to schedule another appointment just to return for a fourth draw when I was already there for an extended period. When I explained this to Carla and gave her the additional requisition, she looked me in the eye and told me I'd need to make another appointment and come back for those tests. I calmly explained what had happened with the online system and said I was unable to return, and that it made sense to draw everything while I was already there. She reluctantly added the tests and told me, "Next time you'll have to make an appointment," followed by, "I'm not trying to give you a hard time." When I tried to show her on my phone what happens when you attempt to add multiple tests online, she refused to look and said, "I don't need to see that." Then, while I was seated quietly waiting for the draw, she noticed my water bottle and asked if I had been drinking from it. I told her yes, and that my midwife said I could and had written it on the instructions. Again, she responded with, "I'm not trying to give you a hard time." By this point, I felt extremely uncomfortable with how I was being treated. I told her that I've worked in healthcare for over 20 years and have never been treated this way by a medical professional. I said her overall attitude from the moment I walked in had been off-putting and unsettling, and that I preferred not to continue speaking. She then said another tech would complete the timed draws at 7:50 and 8:50. It was upsetting to be treated this way when I was simply trying to be practical and efficient during an important prenatal test. The reaction I received felt unnecessarily rigid and dismissive, especially considering I was already going to be there for hours.

DO yourself a favor and call around to see if any other company takes your insurance, trust me,…read more there are plenty. Or just ask your doctor to do it. I had this compamy come for my elderly mother who is home bound. The very first visit, some doofy young guy shows up making jokes about seeing boobs all day while taking my moms ekg. I let it go because I figured, how often am I going to see this dummy ? The last visit he just made today was to take an xray of my mother's injured wrist after a fall. This dummy shows up again. While trying to get an xray, he grabs my mother's injured wrist to move it, of course she screams. What a freaking idiot this dummy is ! I called the office to ask for another tech next time and all I had to do was mention my mother had dementia. ANOTHER DUMMY, who turned out to be the owner, says, get this, well, if she has dementia, she would react that way to anyone. Again, DUMMY. Whether she has dementia or not, YOU DONT GRAB THE INJURED PART ! DUMMY. AND.... not all dementia patients are the same so if she dealt with someone with dementia who wouldnt let anyone do anything, it doesnt mean they are all like that. In fact, if you ask the DUMMY, this was the first time there was a problem. We got a xray because I was helping her, then the impatient DUMMY stepped in and that was that. AGAIN.. BECAUSE HER INJURED WRIST WAS GRABBED by the DUMMY.

I must commend This wonderful mobile imaging company's service to anyone home bound ! My mom has…read morehad a series of small strokes and was in need of an updated chest X-Ray and an EKG. The technologist that came to the home was prompt, introducing himself to my mother in a upbeat but respectful manner , engaging her in the whole process, explaining every thing he was to do next so she was not fearful of what was going to happen! He was very efficient in carefully setting up the equipment all the while speaking slowly and loudly enough for her to hear and comprehend( to the degree she could!) His very gentle and pleasant( but highly efficient) manner kept her calm. During the EKG,as soon as the leads were strategically placed on her bared chest he closed her pj top and quickly preceded with that exam.( sometimes, as with all medical tests, a bit of our dignity is offended but it's either that or get a poor exam result! I know all to well, I'm a retired X- Ray technologist that worked for radiologists that were exacting and demanded the highest quality images!) In today's increasingly impersonal world , it's refreshing to see a company that holds itself to higher standards! My second experience with this company ( my mother had to have an ABD/pelvic sonogram) was with an Very pleasant , efficient and caring ultrasound technologist ( to my happy surprise I found out she was one of the owners of this company!) She put my mother instantly at ease by gently touching her arm as she introduced herself. she also explained what she was going to do at each portion of the exam( ie. putting the ultrasound wand with cool gel on her abdomen before she did it so my mother wasn't startled ) Her soothing voice and calm manner translated to cooperation from my mom! ( and believe me, my mom is stubborn and uncooperative" to the max" if she thinks she doesn't like or trust you!!!). When she completed the sono she made sure that my mother was wiped dry of any gel and was comfortably back in her favorite position in her hospital bed! And another note worthy point.. SHE told ME the timeline as to when the doctor would get the test results...I DID NOT HAVE TO ASK HER! ( that's a rarity , trying to have people give me info like this is like pulling teeth !). I would highly recommend this great company if you are in need of imaging services that come to the home!
