Urgent Care Pros - Fullerton - Waiting Room

Urgent Care Pros - Fullerton

(70 reviews)

Accurate rating description for two starts is "could've been better." This place only has PA/NP…read moreand no MD on site. They have the capability to draw blood and send to lab for stat orders. Unfortunately, what they lack ends up a longer list. The first MA was unable to get a vial of blood and said someone else would try on my other arm with a straight needed (vs butterfly). She left me without even putting a bandaid on the arm she poked and I had to struggle to put the bandaid on one handed while still maintaining pressure on it. Next MA comes and draws blood and when she's done she yelps I don't have a cotton ball (to put on the vein she just drew out of) and my blood is just pooling while she puts a bandaid on. Luckily I'm well versed enough to know I needed to put pressure on my bandaid. The NP who saw me was new to (per the MA) she really didn't put my mind at ease. Her expertise and knowledge seemed lacking based on the answers to my questions. First thing she asked me was, why are you here and not the ER? I told her my PCP sent me here because she didn't feel it necessitated a ER visit. She wanted me to be evaluated by YOU to assess and in your medical opinion, do I need to be seen further or what course of action next? She swabbed me for flu and covid and I verbally questioned her because I had isolated severe GI symptoms. She said sometimes those present wither GI only. Does it? I don't know, I'm not an MD but I'm also someone who works in healthcare and it didn't feel like the proper procedure. When I asked if she would be ordering any stool samples, I heard through my closed door "do we do that?". Ok, she's new, I'll give her that...but she comes back in and says "if you'd like to have the order for stool testing I'm happy to give that to you." Am I the md or am I the patient? I came here for your professional medical opinion! Do I?! So after I kindly communicated that I am looking to her for her opinion as the expert whether or not my symptoms necessitate an order, she still doesn't quite give me a direct answer! I haven't been to that many urgent cares, but I've come to see a trend that many of the urgent cares that are owned by a company with multiple locations don't have MD's on staff physically there. That said, I've also noticed the trend that many provide sub-par care.

Sunny Hills Urgent Care - Exam room

Sunny Hills Urgent Care

I changed my insurance plan this year, so I had to find a new urgent care as well. There are so…read moremany bad urgent care reviews out there, but luckily Sunny Hills is the closest one to me that was in-network has very good reviews. They are located in downtown Fullerton, right on the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Pomona Avenue. There is plenty of parking with one lot just south of their offices by the bus stops, and a larger lot just to the west. I chose to park in the free parking garage on Pomona and Santa Fe so my car would be in the shade. Their website is very good, and allows booking an appointment without having to call in. They seem to have very good availability, and I was able to book an appointment only 30 minutes away from the current time. They are also open from 8am to 8pm seven days a week which is great. After selecting a time, answering some basic questions about the reason for my visit, and uploading photos of my insurance card and ID (driver's license), my appointment was booked. This process took less than five minutes. I was a new patient so I assume I only have to do this once. Once my appointment was booked, they texted me a link with a few more medical questions. The whole process took less than ten minutes, and booking future appointments should be much faster with all of my info now in their system. When I arrived, I just had had to check-in and pay my co-pay which took less than thirty seconds. The waiting room was very clean and has sixteen chairs. There were three other parties waiting, but I was called back to an exam room in only about five minutes. The exam room was also very clean and modern. I didn't catch his name, but the provider's assistant was very friendly and professional. I was in for a sore throat, so after checking all of my vitals, he also swabbed my throat to run a rapid test for strep. He left the room and said once the results were in, the provider would be in to see me. About ten minutes later, nurse practitioner Kim arrived. The test for strep throat was negative, but after examining me, she said I had a pretty nasty sore throat that was very red and inflamed. She offered to prescribe me an antibiotic even though the test was negative, and I agreed to give it a try. She also told me some things I could do to help it, most of which I was already doing. She was also very friendly and professional. I was in and out in a little over 20 minutes. Hopefully it will be a long time before I have to return, but I'm happy to have found a good urgent care center I can go back to without hesitation when needed.

I popped onto the website, made an appointment, uploaded my insurance information and stop by a couple days later. Once I arrived for my appointment, I waited as is normal, and when the receptionist called me up, she let me know if they did not take Blue Shield lol. I get it... They can't take everybody, but why on earth would you have a sign up saying "excepting most insurance plans" except for one of the largest in California . Overall, just a huge waste of time and I was not very impressed.

In my case, I normally go to sleep at 1:30am but the appt was scheduled for 8:00pm. They didn't mention I could come later and when I asked about it they said that that was my problem. I didn't really sleep at all during the test, then the technician (Anthony) watching me, came in the room at 5am and said it was over. Anthony even admitted that he couldn't test different machines because I didn't sleep, and said I would probably need to redo the test (at least Anthony was professional). He said he noticed me texting and reading throughout the night. Julie said because I didn't sleep enough they would just give me a fluctuating machine. Heather, who called two days, later talks so fast in her high pitched tone and wouldn't allow me to speak or address my concerns; instead called me rude, argumentative and said I have amnesia (apparently she's said this to others). Now here is the fishy part, Rotha, in the office, said Heather's mgr was Julie. But, Julie laughed and said she wasn't the mgr. The lady Heather who says she's the tech is also the owner. (She never mentioned that. I found out from someone else when I asked to speak to the owner). They have no concern for their clients. Look up their doctor DeSilva and read his reviews. Julie said he will not do office visits, but will allow 5 mins to talk on phone (if it REALLY was Julie, she spoke just like Heather). I asked for a redo and, of course, they said "no". Julie told me "if you get a bad steak, you still have to eat it and pay for it". On a side note, the room was small and clean, but what good is that if they don't test correctly, don't try to fit the correct machine, or don't care to listen to the client's concerns. A decent sleep test should allow half the time for sleep and half the time for fitting to find the best fit and machine. Not all machines or masks work equally on each patient. Heather said my concerns didn't matter because she will get plenty of clients from primary care doctors anyways. She eventually hung up on me. I think it's a business for quick cash and no care. I lost $800.00. Run, don't walk from Preferred Sleep Solutions. Any positive reviews are just for the rooms or the other company that provides the sleep devices.

I arrived at 7:45 AM. I tried to schedule an appointment the night before on the app was told none were available. While sitting here waiting, I checked the LabCorp app again and suddenly there were 9 appointment slots available. That makes no sense. Why weren't those appointments available the night before? To make matters worse, several non-English-speaking patients arrived and clearly did not understand how to use the self check-in kiosk. No staff member offered to assist them. They were left standing there confused, which only added to the chaos and delays. This location is poorly managed, inefficient, and a complete waste of time. I will never return. I finally made it in to get my blood drawn. Veronica helped me and she was very nice. That was the only pleasant experience I had at this place. I truly miss Quest Diagnostics.
