Located right off the Plaza de la Revolucion in Lares, this small spot, which specializes in foods with yucca and other startches like plantains, is the real deal. The owners are SO NICE and helpful. We ordered the plantain basket with pulpo (octopus) which was a great mix of things and gave kind of a taco salad vibe (if you sub plaintain for tortilla). We also tried their alcapurrias which are LARGE and honestly some of the best I've ever had! The owner explained that they use calabaza (pumpkin) in the batter along with the yucca, which gives it a slightly orange color. They came out piping hot with the traditional ground beef filling.
