    Chicken tacos

Go here, seriously it's a place you CANNOT miss. The food was something to remember, super flavorful and most definitely fresh. The views are also a bonus, we saw chickens, roosters, and horses! Although the drive may be rough, the destination is SO worth it. This is the best food we've had our entire vacation.

An unassuming exterior is always a good sign. Gigantic inside, you wouldn't think so.

So good! Went there with 6 adults, 2 teenage kids, one of whom has celiac (severe gluten allergy). The mojitos were amazing (we tried parcha/passionfruit, coconut, pina). Chicken mofongo was gluten-free, my celiac kid had zero issues (once it was clear our spanish sucked so they sent over the english speaking waitress. We tried, but clearly were speaking far too slowly). In the group we tried the fried pork, burgers, tacos, everything rocked. They even made virgin mojitos for the teenagers, which was super nice. And, there was a guitar player for live music, will add pics & video if I can figure it out, the atmosphere was stellar. Packed at 2pm on a Sunday with locals, so clearly this is a great place. If we didn't have to be somewhere else we would have stayed for another few hours to have another drink or two and listen. 13/10 would go again.

We visited this restaurant in the late afternoon after exploring the coffee farms and Taino archeological sites in the area. The first thing to say is the view here is outstanding - the covered outdoor seating has views of the river and surrounding mountains and forest. The food was tasty - they specialized in tacos but also had a good selection of frituras, the fried appetizers that are part of Puerto Rico cuisine. We had a chicken taco, the steak (churrasco) tacos, the rellanitos, which were tasty fried balls filled with beef, and the fried lightly sweet corn fritters known as surullitos. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. My non-alcoholic pina colada served as a great dessert. The service was helpful - there was one bilingual server, and the others worked with us thanks to my daughter's Spanish. (You'd be fine using gestures and Google translate). Overall, this was a wonderful experience due to the food and magical location.

Best Pina Colada's I've ever tried!!!

We were leaving a tour in the area. We called Hijos del Josco Restraurant and I didn't realize they were closed. They gladly and happily invited me to come by early and they'll open up a little earlier to better serve me. I was very impressed and had to come. The food was as good as the customer service if not better! My wife and I stared with a PINA COLADA, hands down the best one I've ever tried in my life. my wife and I ordered the Lomita. It was big and delicious !! I was more then satisfied with the food and customer service. This place is a family owned Restraurant, so glad I decided to come out here. Did I mention there's a water front view of a river? Really good place to eat, drink, and be happy!

The best chicken tacos I ever taste. The taco shell is made with cod fish, it is great. The restaurant is at the edge of Arecibo river, beautiful view. Jose treated us like family.

    Delicious!!

We stumbled onto this place coming back from a caving adventure and I can say it was one of the top 3 meals we had in Puerto Rico , the service was amazing everyone who helped us greeted us with a smile , and the owner of the place goes out of his was to shake your hand talk to you and make sure you feel like home !! I will definitely return when we come back to Puerto Rico , what a great !!

What a great place to eat...the food was delicious, the server was beautiful and the owner was a very pleasant person to speak to. I sat with him at the entrance and just spoke for a while before the food was ready. It was a party of 6 (2 children) and we ordered the mixed meat (pork, churrasco, chicken,) with Amarillo and sweet potato fries...it was more than enough. Plus we got an order of mofongo and bifongo with I believe 2 specialty drinks and the total was about $58. This is a local mom and pop and it's always a great feeling helping out those that live in the area. The restaurant itself looks a bit rough on the exterior but that just adds to the authenticity and beauty of the restaurant in the area of Utuado. Of course like in many places in PR there is no air conditioning but there are fans throughout. The only drawback was that the power went out while we were there and that led to no fan and having to eat in the humidity that PR has to offer lol. I'm not removing any starts because that's not their fault. Almost one yr later the island is still dealing with the effects of Hurricane Maria. In fact, the owner told me he was closed for six months due to the hurricane and only recently was he able to open. From within the restaurant you can see the puente hamaca Utuado (destroyed) and the river. The drive down could be a bit interesting if you're not from the area but it's definitely worth it. Drive safe and enjoy!

We were in Maricao and we wanted to have lunch at a Puerto Rican food place and we had been told good things about the Casona de Artemio in Las Marías. The road is a little dangerous but we went there. The food was very good, service excellent (the girls who served us worked very hard). Very reasonable food prices (generally between $15 and $30 per dish) and drinks were affordable too. The only thing that surprised me (negatively) was the exorbitant price of what they call "crème brulé" and that was a Catalan cream (both are very similar, but the consistency of "crème brulé" is less solid than that of the Catalan cream, (I have lived in Paris and Barcelona, and I know the difference well). While the price for other desserts fluctuated between $4 and $5, the price of the crème brulé was $8.50. The cream was good but not extraordinary nor was the portion big (maybe 3 ounces) to justify that price (and the price wasn't explicit on the menu either).
