Had a 6pm reservation and we were first there, but within 15-20 minutes, the restaurant was filling up fast. I recommend reservations here to ensure a seat. It clearly is a popular spot. The interior is lovely, with well spaced tables, and due to its location on the second floor of the building, it's great sitting by the front window walls to look out onto the avenue and people watch. I loved the white linens and the clean black and white aesthetic, combined with the window wall and areas of exposed bricks and tall glass-enclosed wine racks. Our server was Francesco and he was absolutely amazing. Onto the food.... wow, it was good. My dad had his regular Caesar salad and after I tried a bit of it, I could see why he's such a fan. The intact romaine leaves were so perfectly crisp and perfect, I don't think I've ever had a salad where the lettuce was so perfect. The dressing and parmesan on said salad was also perfect. Honestly, I think it was the best Caesar salad I've ever tasted. Next time, I'm ordering one, for sure. My mom and I shared the eggplant parmesan and it was delicious and not heavy or overwhelming as most eggplant parmesan dishes are. We also shared their version of Caprese salad, with buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes. This was, for me, the only miss of the night. The cheese and tomatoes were delicious, but they only used olive oil on the salad, and it really called for some good balsamic vinegar as well. (Note to self: next time ask for some balsamic on the side. The dish really called for it). My folks also shared some ice cream for dessert and they said it was super good, they could tell the quality was super high. We all had drinks (even my dad, who NEVER drinks). Dad's red wine was, he said, perfect, and my mom loved her gin martini (which she noted was the biggest martini she ever had. They sure don't scrimp on drink sizes here!). As for me, I asked Francesco for a sangria on the sweet side, and he returned with the best sangria I ever had, hands down. I am not exaggerating, it was beyond delicious. We had a wonderful dinner here. I should note, at the end of our meal, my mom had a bad reaction from her meds and her drink and it got a little concerning there for a few minutes. Francesco was really helpful to us, as I had to help my mom out. (My apologies to the restaurant and nearby diners. I know it must have been disturbing for them. Mom was fine soon after and has since had some med dosages tweaked by her doctor). I should also add that parking here is a breeze. There is a large parking lot a few yards away on Greene and parking is free after 6pm, and I think street parking is free after 6 or 9pm, too, and free all day on Sunday. FYI. I am already looking forward to returning here, before I return back to my home in Vancouver in a few weeks.
