As it's literally a couple minutes down the road from CERN - but on the French side of the border - it makes it a convenient / much cheaper option to eat at. O Brasseur has its own parking lot, but with only 5 non-handicapped spots that can get a bit tight depending on how well/poor others do with parking, you may find it easier to park down in front of the Carrefour that is slightly further down the road and walking back to the pub. Despite being near an international research facility, French is definitely the language of choice here; while the waitress who handled my check knew a decent amount of English, our main server and the man tasked at the bar when we came in knew very little. At least the menu is in English, which made it easy enough to point at when my (extremely rusty) French failed me. The ambiance inside has a typical pub vibe to it, but since there was some shaded seating outside, we ended up out there, enjoying the warmth a little but also the coolness of the shade and the breeze. They do make their own beer here, so props to that. However, the selection is more limited (the English translations came out to lager, witbier, and amber ale - all with the same ABV somehow). I went with the 'limited edition', which I wish I had asked about...it was a Lambic, which was okay, but that kind of beer isn't up my alley. For the food, I would say that my wife's fish burger was actually a bit better / more distinguishable; the fish was very flaky and juicy, although that made it a bit tricky holding together the entire sandwich. My regular beef burger was pretty average - the meat was not as generic as some burgers I have had, but the patty felt a bit on the light side despite being a 6-ounce or so. Despite having bacon, cheese, and caramelized onions on it, none of those extras really came through. The French fries were decent, but the salad - topped with some heavy, mysterious white dressing that neither my wife or I could place - was just taking up space on the plate. The prices are reasonable here, and the vibe is alright - and that's about where expectations should be kept. O Brasseur is a solid place for a casual bite, and if you are in this particular area, you might as well eat here...there aren't many other options from what I could see. I wouldn't go out of my way to end up here again, though.

Merveilleux! Magnifique! And I don't even speak French!…read more We were directed to this café by a tour guide and through online recommendations. It was one of very few eating establishments near our hotel, so given its popularity and being aware of the need to have reservations for dinner, we decided to try a mid-day lunch. There was nobody eating indoors, so we selected an outside table. The area is mostly shady and has a nice feel, but tables are rather closely spaced, and if you're sensitive to cigarette smoke, you might not enjoy this. The menu has many classical Swiss dishes, and the place is best known for its outstanding fondue. We ordered this to share. A carafe of water, our wine, and a basket of not-so-fresh crusty bread (uncubed) came first. Then the fondue (in a cast iron pot), my gazpacho, and my husband's salad arrived. The waiter offered a half portion of salad, which was perfect. My gazpacho was slightly textured, had hints of garlic, onion, and peppers, and came with mini-croutons. It was perfect on that hot afternoon. But the star of our lunch was the amazing fondue, which was thick and flavorful. We did have to cut up the bread for dipping, and it certainly could have been fresher. There were lots of sparrows trying to get their share of it. All in all, this was a great afternoon meal at a reasonable cost (for Switzerland, anyhow). We'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Since the place is known for fondue, we had to get that and it was really good. I could have just eaten that and been fine but I didn't know that ahead of time and ordered some ravioli, which was very good too. Service was fairly friendly and the food was great, so I give it two thumbs up. I will say the seating is a little tight but they're trying to give as many people as possible the opportunity to eat here so I get it.

As I was browsing…read morethrough a list of restaurants near me by distance I came across this one with an interesting name and an very good rating. It's a classy place and the service is very good. There is a nice atmosphere in there. The tables are with and sturdy yet designed to look sleek so are the chairs and the decor is quite modern and stylish. Go with a collar... I called and asked what the price of a menu was to gauge the price range and to my surprise you could get a delicious three course meal (drinks not included) for 30 euros and if you go at lunch that would become 20 euros . So what to expect from the meal... Well the food is all delicious French Cuisine, what surprised me is that I ended up choosing the vegetarian menu for myself (I was actually happily surprised that I didn't notice a lack of taste or excitement in the dishes) My gf chose the traditional menu (a traditional French cuisine menu) which blew my mind in every aspect starting with tuna tartar followed by pork fillet and to finish This mouthgasm off with a kick they served us both the creme brûlée with amaretto ^^ . The Portions are very generous and very tasty! I raise my hat to the chef! If you are a hungry guy like me, you'll have a hard time feeling hungry for more at the end of this menu. With some excellent white wine (Muscat sec) we ended up spending under 100 euros for 2! That's 2 three ourse meals, sparkling water and a bottle of delicious wine for under 100 euros you've got to be kidding me :D

Switzerland, as…read moremost of you know, is one of the most expensive countries in Europe, if not the most expensive. I was not too hungry, but he was super hungry. I looked up a few places and this place popped up. It was within walking distance of our hotel so we gave it a shot. We walked in and the guy asked if we had a reservation, to which we said no. I thought he would say he was out of room, but he offered us the communal table. There was another middle-aged couple sitting at the end. They kept looking over at us; it was a little creepy. The menu was all in French. And since neither of us can speak, let alone read French, we used Google translate to figure out what some of the words were. The server was able to explain to us what everything was and we were able to place our order. My fiancee got a meal-sized salad. And it was really big. We both thought it was going to be small, but he said it was filling, and probably the best Cesar salad he ever had. I ordered the small beef tartare, which is 180grams. I also expected it to be small. But I was so wrong. It's the size of a hockey puck and a little thicker than one, and it comes with a side of roasted potatoes, a small salad, and bread to spread the tartare on. By the end of meal, I was so stuffed. I am really glad we found this place.
