Years ago during my first trip to Germany I was surprised to find very high quality pizza. In…read moreseveral cities we ate wood-fired pizza with a slightly charred thin crust and super fresh toppings. My wife accompanied me to Neuemberg on business and I had an eye out looking for a place specializing in this type of pizza. When we walked by Pizz&Via in Old Town and I saw the crust in the window I knew this would be the place. On the first night we ordered a Parma pizza and watched the staff finely shaved heart of prosciutto ham with a precision hand slicer from Italy. The pizza came directly to our table from the wood-fired oven and was excellent. So was the fresh salad that we shared pared with excellent Italian red wine that was recommended by Pedro our waiter. In conversation with Pedro we learned that he and his younger brother own and manage Pizz&Via. These guys so impressed us because they are in their early 20's but really have it going on. The next night was the final game for the World Cup so we returned to Pizz&Via to watch the game on their outdoor TV and enjoy another meal which was also excellent. This night Pedro taught us to drink "Grappa", a unique Italian liquor to aid digestion. What a great experience for dining and cultural exchange. If we lived in Nuemberg this would be our come-to Friday night place. Mike and Kathy

Worst experience in a while. Thinking I'll pick up some quick pasta at their street sales window to…read moretake home for dinner was a huge mistake. It started out easy enough. I ordered Bolognese pasta to go. Paid and was told it should be ready in a few minutes. No problem. So there I stand and wait. And wait. Another customer came by and ordered a pizza. Another came by and ordered pasta and when they received their pasta, I inquired where my pasta was. So I was asked again what I wanted and asked for payment. I explained I already paid but never received my pasta. It was clear this guy didn't believe me, yelled back at the kitchen, back and forth it went, then I was told it would be a few minutes. When the pizza guy received and left with his pizza, I inquired again about my pasta. Again they wwere trying to take my order and charge me. So I asked for a refund upon which the guy got really angry, refused and yelled that he will give me pasta. It was obvious he thought I was cheating him out of pasta. I did eventually get my pasta, but I have to say it was awful and definitely not worth the half hour I spent waiting for my 'quick' to go dinner. I am actually wondering if it was awful on purpose since it was plain to see that I was assumed to be a liar. So if you are going with the street vending, get a receipt for sure.

Frank'ness was a welcomed change from our food experiences in Germany! Their menu is really…read moredifferent, even from many you'd see in the US. Very chic and trendy with exciting combinations that make you think you'd like to sample half of the menu in one sitting. Also, we were greeted with such a friendly member of staff- who also waited on us, that it made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. We brought a 1 year old with us and they don't have highchairs...and most of the seating is high-top stools, so that is a challenge with a little one. Our waiter was nothing but helpful and patient as we tried to situate our little one and checked on us frequently to make sure there wasn't anything extra he needed. They also had menu's in English, which we haven't found everywhere, so that was good. As far as food, I normally don't talk about drinks in my posts, but the cinnamon cherry lemonade was something so unique and so tasty that I have to tell my fellow Yelpers! And, here's the kicker, it came with ICE! I was sipping this deliciousness for a few minutes before I realized what was enhancing it's flavor...the ice. In 10 days, I have yet to see ice in one drink here in Germany (as it is most of Europe). So, when you finally get a drink filled with ice, you notice..and you enjoy. We also ordered the shrimp cocktail to start. It is a bit spicy, just enough to leave your mouth with a nice tingle. It was good. I was hoping the shrimp would be larger. They were just the size you'd get at the grocery store, but for almost 13 Euros, I was hoping for something larger. It was good- layered with a homemade tomato marinade of some sort with salad and some crispy crumbs or balls? It looked like cous-cous but was crispy. It also came with a small side of their homemade croutons, but these aren't crunchy; they are buttery, garlicy, soft cubes of lightly toasted bread. Very yummy! For our entrees, we ordered the pulled pork burger (which in the US, we'd just call a pulled pork sandwich. It is not a burger) and the grilled goat cheese from the vegetarian menu. The pulled pork was delicious and came over-flowing with meat. Like, you need a fork to clean up your plate. It also was accompanied by a small cravat of salad that was also good. The goat cheese was sprinkled with crispies and pomegranate seeds, which I scrapped off because they're not fun to chew, but made for a very nice presentation. It also come with a bowl of pickled sweet beets which were really tasty and naturally go with goat cheese. Overall, I would highly recommend. Everything from the service to the food (and free bathroom!) was just what we needed to cap of a wonderful visit to Nuremberg.

Fränk´ness - I ordered a caesar salad and received this. When I told the server it wasn't a caesar salad she said, "yes it is, it's Franconian."
