There were a ton of people here when we arrived to try and catch the sunset. However, the line moves pretty fast. It got cold and windy at the top, so bring a jacket. And although it's really touristy (and even French locals flock here), it was sort of worth it if you haven't been up to the top. My recommendation for sunset: go to the VERY top level first. take pics there during sunset... it seems like most people get caught at the middle level first, but if you can, go all the way to the very top. Then, you can head down to the next level, grab a beignet or croissant and coffee, and relax. It's definitely a great place for a date... there is a lot of time to talk and get to know each other while waiting in line. read more

Buy your tickets ahead of time. Even with tickets we still had to wait. There were several lines but security is key. There are multiple viewpoints and all are beautiful. Obvious must in Paris that is absolute breathtaking. Several options to eat there as well. read more

I have no idea how it's possible that the Eiffel Tower gets any less than 5 full stars across the board, but I suppose I'll just have to live with it. The Eiffel Tower was my teenage hope of travel and exploration. It was this iconic structure that held so much hope and excitement for me. When I finally made it to Paris and stood beneath it's massive presence, it didn't disappoint. The first time I saw it light up and twinkle in the darkness, I almost couldn't contain my joy. As I sat with a picnic and bottle of wine at 11:30pm at night with hundreds of other people, I felt like I belonged in this stunning city of light. It's held so many positive memories for me, that any comments regarding long lines or poor viewing conditions (both of which can be avoided if you plan properly) are just plain crazy talk. Crazy talk, people. La Tour Eiffel, je t'aime! read more

If there were 10 stars to give this beautiful monument I would. Everything is magnificent about this place, from the structure, to the shape, to the ride up top, to the view of Paris- Everything. It is just a magical place. The experience of taking the train, mingle with some locals on their way to work, and getting off trocadero station is absolutely exciting since the first thing you see as you walk out of the station is beautiful La Tour Eiffel. The wind feels different, the sounds, and aroma of fresh baguette will stay with you forever. During the day the tower is there waiting for people from all over the world to appreciate its magnificence from the bottom up. At night it's just another experience with the light show- Very romantic place, of course, everything about this place exudes love. read more

Super tall! Lots or metal! Lots of screws! Handyman's dream! Great spot for the kissings. Hubba hubba! ;) Its windy at the top. Resturant is kind of expensive: thats for the fancy folks! I took the stairs down, poppa needs the cardio. But there is an elevator.. a little crowded.. great for the self esteem if you need someone in your personal space. Enjoy! I did! read more

Quite the walk to get here oh my!! I saw it during the day and it was pretty cool but the winner is at night when it lights up!! So beautiful and so amazing. You can actually club up the stairs and go to the top of the Eiffel Tower (beware ! Not for the faint of heart lol). There's also 3 restaurants inside that give you a magnificent view. There are people there selling toys and selfie sticks but they are not pushy at all which is nice so you get to enjoy your view. I loved Paris and this highlighted my trip read more

Beautiful, breath taking and marvelous. Due to current events, the tour is secured and in order to get really close you have to go through a security process. My friends and I bought tickets to go up and inside the tower for about 10 Euros. For some reasons we didn't take the elevator, and instead took the stairs. We climbed the Eiffel Tower. It was A LOT of steps, but the view and everything else was worth it. I would do it again in a heart beat. We were in Paris during the world cup, and the tower was light up beautifully. It's just like the movies. In retrospect, I am glad we climbed the tower instead of taking the elevator - I feel as if it made the experience that much better. read more

We were there in late June 2012. The view is awesome no need to buy the ticket to the very top just need to get the one to the 2nd floor. However the lines are LONG we waited about 2 /12 to reach the ticket booth then another 15-20 minutes to enter the elevator (lift). If you plan to eat at the high end restaurant on the 2nd floor make sure you are dressed up, we were told that they were full and couldn't seat us just because I was wearing shots and a backwards UCLA hat. If front of that restaurant at the lounge the bartenders don't understand English ( not sure why the would hire someone that doesn't speak English or at least understands it in a very Highly tourist attraction). Pretty sure they were talking crap about us in French. Overall The Eiffel Tower experience was cool and will do it again. Also I recommend walking down the stairs its was fun. read more

In what I am sure will be an unpopular review, I have to say that as an attraction, the Eiffel Tower is not worth the time and effort it will take you to get to the top. While the tower is a masterpiece of architecture and engineering and always looks great looming over the skyline, the queues to get to the top, which range in time from two to five hours, are simply unjustified because the Eiffel Tower is not the only place to see Paris from very high up. Sacre Coeur in Montmartre is higher than the Tower and is also a beautiful landmark to visit in itself, offering the views without the queues. Indeed, in my time as an expat in Paris, I was told by a Parisian that the best view in the city is to be had from the top of the Tour Montparnasse - a tower so ugly that it blights the skyline but, since you are on top of it, is the only place to get a pretty view of Paris without seeing this eyesore! I am sure that these words of warning will not stop anyone going to this famous landmark, but it would be remiss of me not to warn you that while the views from the top are spectacular both during the day and at night, they are certainly not unparalleled. read more

I love the symbolism of the Eiffel more than the actual site. No, that's not correct. I love to see the tower from every location in Paris. I look for it everywhere I go. I've taken 100's of photos of the tower. It's beautiful in almost every one of those snaps. What I don't love is the pressing crowds under the tower for admission. I don't care for all the tacky souvenir vendors, the petty thief pickpockets, the long wait time to purchase a ticket and then wait again for an elevator. I do love the view from the top of the tower, but truthfully the view from Montparnasse Tower is better. And you can see the Eiffel Tower from the uniquely glorious perch from the roof of the Montparnasse tower. read more

Kind of underwhelming. Maybe it is because I grew up in Vegas and saw the Paris hotel one all the time, but in the end it is a tower in a random part of town. It is a must see photo opportunity, and I would get it out of the way as the first thing you do so you can explore Paris without feeling like you have to go see the Eiffel Tower. The people selling selfie sticks are pushy and it is hard to get a second to take a picture without them coming to you. Don't expect to be wowed. read more

I visited the Eiffel tower back during a summer visit to London. I took a train to Paris and, with only the one day to spare, decided to visit a couple of key places. Of course, the Eiffel Tower had to be the first one. There's a picture of me standing in front of the tower in my profile. I wasn't able to go to the top because it was very crowded. I can tell you that a visit to Paris in general, and specifically to the Eiffel Tower, should be in everyone's bucket list. It is very much like you see it in the movies, and since there I've seen it destroyed by aliens, meteors, terrorists and villains, it was very comforting to see it alive and well in the flesh, so to speak. read more

Cheating? How is this cheating? Show me where on my Yelp contract it says I'm restricted to reviewing locations from my neighbourhood? Oh right yeah, there it is. I see it now. Okay, so the Eiffel freaking Tower may be just a tad more prominent a building than the usual places I write about (yes, even more so than my newsagents) but once I saw the little 'Now in France!' link in the top corner, I couldn't restrain myself. Sue me. A staggering feat of engineering and one of the only landmarks that isn't smaller than you think (it's about forty thousand times bigger), La Tour Eiffel is a spot on the globe you have to visit in your flickering blink of a lifetime. Don't visit it if you're in Liverpool though. It's not there. It's in Paris. Done and dusted. Another impressive notch in my reviewing bedpost I think you'll find. read more

I don't think there is much I can say about the Eiffel tower that has not already been said - but I must emphasize how beautiful it is to see it at sundown and how it lights up at night. On a more practical note, beware of the gypsies circling around the area. They are there to either swindle you or pickpocket you, so be very aware of your belongings and DO NOT get caught up in any sidewalk games or wares they are selling. read more

Well it's the Eiffel Tower so there's no way you could say this sucks because in reality it's the most beautiful place on earth, the view on top of the tower is splendid. I recently had a whopping 8 hour layover at CDG on my way back to the States, so I decided to make the most of my midday break. I stored my luggage with Bagages du Monde in Terminal 2, hopped on the train, and headed into town. This was a definite whirlwind day, with me attempting to maximize the big sites, seeing as it was my only time in Paris thus far. I got off the metro, stepped out, and boom! I was right in front of the Eiffel Tower. How cool! Look, I'm a heavy traveler and while I'm generally sort of meh on big touristy sites. . . c'mon, it's the Eiffel Tower! And it was right there! I walked down the river, toward the ET, taking in the scenery and generally enjoying my time. I didn't go up the tower or anything, but just the walk was lovely (even in December!). Yes, there are scammers and pick pockets. Just tell them no, ignore them, whatever. Several that came up to me led with, "Do you speak English?" to which I said, "Absolutely not." I walked off as they sat bewildered. A firm no and a glaring b-face will get you far in world travels, let me tell you. Anyway, definitely go see the tower. Walk along the river. How could you not? read more

One of my most favorite travel experiences was visiting the Eiffel Tower. We were in Paris on July 14th, for Bastille Day, France's national holiday commemorating the storming of the Bastille at the start of the French Revolution. It seemed like everyone in Paris was converging on the Eiffel Tower to see the fireworks. I have never been in a crowd so large, and the positive energy of everyone who was at the epicenter of the night's celebration was contagious - we were all French! Just seeing the Eiffel Tower in person is amazing, but when it's surrounded by 100,000+ celebrants and encased with fireworks is truly a fantastic experience. A funny side note: they played music from "Grease" during the firework's show, yet this is a national holiday for France. I dunno, do we play music from "Les Miserables" at the D.C. fireworks show on the Fourth of July? read more

It's no secret, seeing the Eiffel in person is honestly life changing. Just last night, I saw her sparkle at night for the first time...and let me just say, it truly was magical. Now depending on when the light goes down, the sparkles begin. Typically around 8 PM. They go on for five minutes and begin again at the top of every hour. The next time you decide to visit Paris, of course make a stop to visit this beautiful tower. You won't regret it. read more

Wanted to do something special for my 100th review and I figured this is pretty special. The Eiffel Tower was magical. I went to see it twice in October 2010. The first time was in the rain. There was a storm and we were only able to buy tickets to get up to the second level, but they said if the storm let up, that they would open up tickets to the top on the second level. It eventually calmed down, and we were able to buy tickets and go up to the top! It was a bit confusing and REALLY crowded trying to buy the tickets from the machines and then waiting in line to get on the elevators to take us up, but it was definitely worth it. You can see all of Paris from the top and every hour, the Tower has lights that twinkle. This is definitely something you should catch while on the ground AND while on the tower itself. If you're in Paris, seeing the Eiffel is a must both during the day and at night. It's so worth it and I'm so lucky I got a chance to experience both! Le Magnifique. read more

Can't think of any better communications / viewing tower, so I guess this is as 'As good as it gets". The wait really isn't that bad if you book your ticket online in advance. I don't think we waited more than ~15 minutes for the first elevator ride, plus maybe an additional ~15-20 minutes for the second elevator ride. So altogether 1/2-hour. Not too bad. (Except that the wait for the second elevator involved the mom and daughter behind me continually hitting me with their shopping bags every time the line inched forward. Apologies? Surely you jest. But that's just because many Europeans have no concept of personal space. I digress.) We went around sunset so that we got both daytime and nighttime views. It's fun being at the top when the strobe lights go off (which I think happens every 1/2 hour or so). And it's cool being up there at night and watching the spotlight spin around and knowing that you are at the center of that beacon. The crowds waxed and waned. Once you get a spot at the front of the very top outdoor observation deck, you can stay as long as you like. I didn't find people too pushy. In fact, if you offer to take people's photos, many of them will kindly offer to return the favor and take yours (just like at other tourism hotspots). Take your time up there. Savor view the views. I dislike tourist traps and thought this would be cheesy, but I have to say it lived up to the reputation. (Also, while everyone else is looking OUT at the views, take a moment to look INWARD and see the model of the small apartment that Gustave Eiffel kept at the top of the tower where he could entertain guests like Thomas Edison - http://wondersandmarvels.blogspot.com/2009/05/thomas-edison-at-eiffel-tower.html. Now *that* is an apartment with a nice view! :) read more

One of the world's most loved attractions! I saw the Eiffel Tower about 4 years ago and then again on my honeymoon trip and I can say that each time has be absolutely breath taking. I can't help but marvel at how the engineers were able to create such a awesome landmark back in the day. One tip - buy your tickets online! The queue is so much shorter than for those who just show up to buy a ticket. I kept asking myself, don't these people know how much time you could have saved if you bought online? The only caveat is you must go at the time you select when you buy online. Once on top, you can see all of Paris. If you go towards the evening hours, bring a sweater as it tends to get cold on top. You can even buy wine up on top! Also, this is one of the most romantic spots in the world as I had a buddy propose to his wife on top of the Eiffel Tower. Instead of going for dinner one night, we had a picnic in the grassy area next to the Eiffel Tower -some wine, cheese, bread, and chocolate. We watched the Eiffel Tower light up and sparkle. This was one of my most favorite outing on my first trip to France! Ever since I was a child, I always dreamed of visiting this icon. As for the experience itself, I can absolutely say that the trip to the top is TOTALLY worth the money! It's extremely reasonably priced (around €17/$20 USD at the time of my visit in May 2017!) and the extra cost to visit the top is absolutely worth it! The only downside to my visit would have to have been the closing of the Champagne bar before I made it to the top. One of my main recommendations for if you are on a strict budget is purchase a ticket for the stairs to the second floor, and then if you so choose take the elevator to the top floor. This will save you around €10. Visited May 2017 read more
