#1 attraction in Paris. Definitely a must see. Whether you go up or get some amazing photo outside. Always a good Pic with an amazing background.
How can you come to Paris and not see the Eiffel Tower... I mean so cool. I really don't understand why you're looking at reviews for this place honestly, it's just somewhere you just have to go see while you're here. To put it most generally it's a big monument that looks like a caged tower and it sparkles at night!
Overview: a classic, must-see landmark in Paris ---- Very beautiful landmark and prettier if you see it light up at night. The tower only sparkles when it's dark enough outside to see it. When it's the spring/summer the sun sets very late at night so when I was there, the Eiffel Tower first sparkled at 10pm! We didn't know that, so we arrived around 8pm and waited 2 hours. It then started to rain and we shared one umbrella between 4 people. There are lots of people walking around trying to sell you stuff can be very annoying especially if you came there early and they keep asking you. They walk around with small trinkets, some with drinks like wine, blankets, and even umbrellas when it started to rain. There are lots of people on the grassy field in front of the tower having picnics and waiting for the tower to light up as well. The walk from the metro wasn't too long, but also wasn't that short, but it's Paris so be prepared to walk for everything! It beautiful and was worth the walking, waiting, and being rained on. ---- Overall: beautifully lit up at the beginning of the hour after the sun goes down, for us it was at 10pm! Be prepared to walk and wait, enjoy the views and atmosphere with others waiting to see the pretty lights
Landmark in Paris, France... I've visited this famous piece of architecture a few times before I knew about Yelp. Back in 2000, I was here with my former co-worker. She didn't want to visit because there was a bomb threat. I told her that it's just a threat. How many miles and hours did we fly to just stay in the hotel room? She ended up walking outside with me... LOL! Our friend dropped us off this time to just get photos. He and his wife drove around the block and picked us up in-between stops. Parking is quite the challenge here! Be on your best behavior... some guards with guns marched past us!
THE GOOD ---------------- + SPECTACULAR and breath-taking 360 degree view of the entireeeeeee city of Paris! No part of Paris is unseen from here. + Different options for visiting the tower - (1) visit the base for free (2) pay to take the lift/walk up to the 2nd floor (3) pay to take the lift allllllll the way to the top - BUT, EVERYONE needs to go through the security checkpoint. No exceptions. + Worth every penny to visit the top of the tower to view the city! Don't just take photos outside or in front of the tower. Go for the full experience! THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - If you have accessibility needs or have a stroller, unfortunately, you will need to go up some steps before you reach the elevators to take you further up the tower. Not a lot steps, but definitely a few staircases. - If you buy tickets the day of your visit, waits can reach 1-2 hours, so try to buy them beforehand if you can! MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------- = As expected, it gets busy on the different levels, especially the higher ones, but it's not THAT bad. It's typical tourist attraction crowds.
I had a 3 pm reserved ticket To The Top and arrived 30 minutes early. I'm glad I did because they were running behind schedule. Once On Top I was almost 1,000 feet above ground and the views were dramatic. One level is fully enclosed behind large windows and the level above is open air with large metal screens for protection. That day the wind was calm so it was very pleasant to be on that level. On the open air level you can buy a glass of champagne and macarons to celebrate if you wish. Above you the tower rises for about another 100 feet for radio antennas, etc. It costs extra to go To The Top and it is worth it. If you do, go there first and then work your way down to the 2nd and then 1st levels. You can only access The Top by elevator. The 2nd level (400 feet) and 1st level (200 feet) are accessible by elevator and stairway. Remember it's much easier going downhill than uphill. By the way, the stairs are open air but enclosed with metal screens making it impossible for you to fall off. If you are on the 1st level and want to exit it is faster to do so by stairs rather than waiting on the elevator. There are upscale restaurants on the 1st and 2nd levels and there are chairs that you can sit on and enjoy the view. Actually, the famous French landmarks are better seen from the 2nd level than The Top. There are 2 Metro stations within less than 10 minute walking distance to the Tower so getting here is easy. It amazes me that this HUGE landmark was originally designed to be a temporary structure only, They were suppose to take it down but decided it was too popular.
I can't believe I'm finally standing in front of the Eiffel Tower! It's just as beautiful as I imagined it! And apparently at night they have it all lit up!
I could not let my first trip to Paris go by without visiting the Eiffel Tower. I mean, it's a structure that is engrained in history and pop culture, and synonymous with the city of Paris. That being said, I decided to research the different types of visits that the tower offered and plan my visit. The tower offers several ways to climb it - tickets are available to either the first/second floor as well at the summit. If you choose the former, you can then choose to climb it via stairs or lift; if you choose to go to the summit then a lift is your only option. Tickets sell out rather quickly online, but you can also try to purchase them in person. Nevertheless, I don't like leaving things up to chance so I purchased what was available to me online - tickets to the first/second floor via stairs. It's about 600 or so stairs to make it to the second floor of the tower. Along the way, there's a stop on the first floor where you can take pictures; there's also some seating areas as well as a cafe. The second floor repeats this, though there is also a gift shop here. They also have fun facts about the tower scattered throughout as well as plenty of view points. Personally, I thought the views from the first/second floor were high enough - I was snapping away. As far as the tower itself, it's definitely a sight to see in person - massive and intricately structured, I found myself just staring at it multiple times. My only regret (if you can call it) is not seeing at night up close, this is definitely something I would want to do my next time in Paris. Overall though, the Eiffel Tower is definitely worth checking out at least one during your Paris adventures.
La Tour Eiffel or the Eiffel Tower is one of the most landmarks in the world, and it is truly an iconic symbol of the French city line. When you're close to the tower, the photos aren't as beautiful as when you take a photo with the tower in the background. A few spots that are great to take photos with the Eiffel tower is from Trocadero or the bridge at Pont D'Iena for a straight short or at the bridge at Pont De l'Alma for a diagonal shot. We got to enjoy the view of the Eiffel Tower on multiple occasions as we explored the city. We witness its' charm from the day light hours and at night. We discovered that the tower sparkles at night on the hour for 5 minutes. One night we noticed it sparkled from 9:00-9:05pm and then our theory was confirmed when we saw it sparkle again from 11:00-11:05pm. What a treat! I recommend making time to visit both during the morning and at night. The Eiffel Tower is stunning and I feel like the day and the night has different charms to it.
Wow The Eiffel Tower is amazing but to see it in person is just incredible. It is even more amazing in person and fascinating as well. The tower was completed in 1889. There were many who were opposed of it being built but now the tower is adored. We purchased ticket hubby and I to the Summer which is the very top and we were just amazed at the beauty of the tower and of Spain ! Now it does get very crowded and you do get a bit crammed but otherwise anyone visiting Paris must come see the Eiffel Tower
When in Paris, you must visit the Eiffel Tower, both during the daytime and at night! The structure is massive close-up! At night if you take a boat ride along the Seine River, you'll get to see the tower pretty close-up and brightly lit. It's quite mesmerizing.
Is it touristy? Yes. Is it crowded? Yes. Is it worth it? YES!!!! My 4th time being in Paris and still love seeing this beautiful metal art piece. During the day... it's magnificent. During the night... ohhhh it's spectacular! I didn't go up this time, went in 2015... the view is beautiful but you do get better city view from Galleries de Lafayette rooftop. You can see the Eiffel Tower from plenty of hotels... so be sure to time it right... and watch the sparkle at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm... it only sparkles for 5 minutes... so be ready!
As sad as it is, whenever I think about the Eiffel tower I can't help but think about Franz Reichelt. He was a French tailor and inventor and in 1912 he jumped off the first platform of the Eiffel to test a homemade, wearable parachute. You can imagine how that went. However, I have the utmost respect for Franz. You can't knock the hustle. Bro was really about that life and had an unparalleled self belief, rivaled only by Vegeta. A moment of silence for big Franz please.............................. My gf and I came to the Eiffel Tower, not to jump off, but with a baguette and a bottle of red wine like the good little tourists we are. I was draped in a red beret and a 80% cashmere scarf that I had picked up from a tourist stand nearby for 8 euro. It was at this moment I realized that if I ever needed to go into the witness protection program I could blend in out here pretty easily... We drank our wine and ripped into the baguette, and had a nice little moment. It's nice to just press pause every now and then and appreciate moments. My girlfriend ended up keeping this cork, attached a magnet to it, and hung it on the fridge. Beast... gonna start keeping corks like this from all major life events and moments. I sat there, half a bottle of red wine deep, thinking "damn bro really jumped off that and thought he would be good... talk about betting on yourself. He has all my respect." RIP FRANZ! What would a trip be to Paris without visiting the Eiffel Tower? It's pretty cool and it's so big you can't miss it anyway. We had reserved tickets so we didn't have to wait in line. That's a good idea as the lines are long and slow. Expect there to be a million people there when you are. Of course the view from up on the second level is fantastic. Everyone has their camera out taking photos from the second level. As cool as it was to go up in it, just looking up at it from the gardens is more awesome. read more
I must see and do I have been here 4 times and always experience something different each time weather conditions and time of day play a major roll in visiting. A must see at night for the sparkling light show and day for the water cannons but never to miss. The tour is an added plus! read more

Beautiful, historic architecture in Paris. We opted for the night tour by boat. It was freezing but absolutely worth it. read more
I didn't take the time to learn a lot about this landmark as it's one of many stops on our trip. It's pretty cool to be here and I have an appreciation for that. I'm not compelled to pay to go inside though. I'll just enjoy the view from down here. read more
The most iconic structure in Paris . When you first see it, you are amazed! From seeing it in movies and books to seeing it in person is truly amazing. Almost every spot around the tower is a great view ! I walked around the entire tower checking out every side and taking photos . Some of the best photos can be taken on the side streets that lead to the tower (Rue de Universite). The area around the tower is clean for the most part. A lot of street sellers trying to sell tower chains or bike rides which gets kind of annoying after the 10th offer. A lot of people walking around. Always keep your belongings in your front pockets and never leave valuables in a backpack for thieves to open while you walk or focused on the tower. Sunset and night time have really nice views of the tower as it lights up. The light show comes on for about 5 mins at the hour around 10-11 pm. read more

The Eiffel Tower is, simply put, amazing up close. You may be thinking what the big deal is. It's just a metal tower. Then you see it in person, and you're absolutely blown away by the intricacies and symmetry of it all. We didn't go up the Tower; our rationale being that when you look at Paris from above, you're looking for the Tower. In any case, if you want to ascend, make sure to buy tickets ahead of time, and target first thing in the morning before the place swarms with the crowds. Also, keep in mind that the Eiffel Tower is not part of the Paris Museum Pass. Two great picture locations: (1) For a full view of the Tower, walk southeast into the Parc du Champs de Mars during the day. You get a great shot of the tower while enjoying some green in the picture. (2) For a night shot of the Tower, head across the river to the Palais de Chaillot near the Trocadero stop. There you can get a full shot of the Tower at a distance overlooking the water fountain at the palace. read more
No first timer's trip to Paris is complete without a visiting to the Eiffel tower. I wasn't even sure what to expect before seeing it. Would it truly be that impressive? One thing I loved about some of the more impressive monuments in Europe is they sometimes leave you with an involuntary sense of awe. The Eiffel tower was one of those for me. The tower is very easy to get to via metro, but we ended up walking along la Seine for a much more scenic route. The ever looming tall tower in the distance until we stood squarely at its foot. The lattice work, the height, the atmosphere of the monument--- it's more or less true to what you see in the movies. While you gawk though, this is the perfect time to practice good traveler awareness. Keep your belongs close to you or in front of you. This place is a hive of energy with all the people around, and there are plenty of people taking photos and staring upwards. We didn't get to go up the tower like we had wanted since it was a long wait by the time we arrived, however, you can go across the bridge to the gardens of Trocadero and get a full view photo of the tower, as well, as a place to sit and take in the site itself. Others have mentioned the view from the tower isn't entirely worth it. As someone who would like to one day (hopefully, if I get to visit Paris again) go I think that it shouldn't be missed if you get the chance, but they are correct in saying the view from the Arc de Triomphe is very nice since you get the tower in the skyline. If we weren't a little behind on the time it would have been nice to go up, but even with it being off-season there was a pretty long line around the afternoon. From the gardens of Trocadero though you can follow the major street to the Arc de Triomphe or easily take public transportation, however a lot of it is in a doable walking distance. read more
The Eiffel Tower is probably the most recognized icon/landmark of Paris and although I didn't get to go up to the top it was lovely to see in person. We decided to visit in the evening and it literally took my breath away when it started sparkling against that blue evening sky. Be careful of the guys who pop out of nowhere who target couples and insist you buy a rose. We've seen them in action and they hand the rose to the lady and will harass the guy to pay up. Not cool. read more

What a beautiful work of art. Every time I go to the Eiffel Tower, it is so beautiful and majestic. I only take one star off because it is just so crowded. I am one of those people who hates crowds, I really prefer more exclusive/private surroundings, so it was very disappointing to me when there were a lot of people in my photos. I know there's nothing you can do, but you could probably hit the tower at a less crowded time of day, say, not at sunset read more

If I only saw one thing on my trip to Paris, this would be it. In fact, I spent my entire 1st night there dreaming about seeing it the next morning and I was up at the crack of dawn ready to go! I wasn't disappointed. It is amazing! Since this is what most people know of Paris, it is something that is more than a landmark, it is an icon. I know, its touristy, but go. Marvel at it. And if you're OK with heights (I am not!), take a trip up to the observation platforms to get a great view of the city*. This is one of those sites that you should probably see twice. Go once during the day to take some beautiful pictures and, if you're there with a partner, a kiss in front of it. But then go back in the dark to see it lit up. Especially when they have the light show! Its beautiful to see the lights twinkling whilst eating a delish Nutella crepe from one of the street vendors nearby! *Personally, I like the view from Montmarte. read more

Make sure to book a reservation ahead of time to skip there long line to get in. You will still be moved asking like cattle going both up and down to the summit. The views are spectacular. Don't miss the lights coming on when the sun sets. read more

The Tour Eiffel is incredible. We went all the way to the top (totally worth the price) and were not disappointed. We also went by several times during our 8 days there. I keep taking pictures of our family in different locations and angles. I guess you can say I was obsessed. :) They even had a red Tour Eiffel made out of bistro chairs to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the bistro chair!! We went one evening just to see it "sparkle" - it happens for 5 minutes every hour. It truly is magical seeing it glitter in the night sky. If you go to Paris make sure you see the Eiffel. read more

If you want to avoid the lines then purchase your tickets in advance. Travelocity has some great packages . We purchased lunch at Restaurant 52 and the price included tix to the tower and allowed us to by pass EVERY line (hallelujah b/c it was one of the hottest days ever)! We were lucky to have a great view of the theater and the fountain. I will say the food isn't the best but it's a 3 course meal with choice of drink. read more

An iconic site and must see. Unfortunately my experience was very limited as we were not able to get tickets to go on and to the top of as they were sold out. Additionally, access to the tower and its surroundings was hindered by the all the construction work in preparation for the French Open so everything was cordoned off. You literally had only the space at the base of the tower. Droves and droves of people were everywhere making it very difficult to fully enjoy the view. It's one of those situations where you come see and leave. Plan more carefully next time and get tickets to enter the tower otherwise buy a postcard. read more

This was my first time at the Eiffel Tower!!! OMG it was incredible... The people are nice and it is also a great place to people watch. There are vendors around the tower selling great items to take back home. They're not that expensive and offer great value. I look forward to taking my wife there and taking her to the top of the tower and giving her a BIG kiss... read more
While one of the most iconic city symbols in the world, the Eiffel Tower is a huge hunk of cast-iron. Rising 1,063 feet above the Seine, it is a sight to behold, especially in the evening when it sparkles with a light show (20,000 flashing bulbs) We didn't go up, as the queue was way too long, so we admired its beauty from the ground and from vantage points across the Seine. Not to be missed read more

It was as amazing of a sight as I had expected. I can only give three stars for this because I didn't get a chance to get the full experience. I observed the tower from ground level partially because it was so crowded, but the fact that I chose not to wait in the long line simply attests to the number of things to see and do in the area. We made it over here by way of the Big Bus. We got off to take a couple of look around and take a couple of pictures. Being made aware of the night tour, we choose not to spend too much time there so we could see as much as we could during the day and come back later on in the evening. read more

What can I say, it's the freaking Eiffel Tower. Talk about an icon ! I visited the Eiffel before but have never been up to the top . Same with the boyfriend. He's super afraid of heights and as many times as he's been to Paris, he's never been up to the top . Since he bravely conquered the Seattle Space Needle earlier this year , we agreed adding the top of another World's Fair Monument was in order . Wow. It was incredible . We went at dusk and saw the sunset from the top . Talk about the epitome of romantic ! At 8pm the twinkling lights start up . We were at the second level for that which was perfect...you can look up at the splendor of it all. You can save a few bucks and walk up to the second level, avoiding some of the crowd, then catch the elevator up to the top. But if you're even slightly afraid of heights, you might want to take a look and assess it. It's completely safe , but whoa... They serve champagne up at the top and there is a restaurant on the second level too. It touristy , but I think you gotta do it, at least once . read more
A definite must see when visiting the city of lights. Having said that, whether or not you go up is completely optional. It's just as iconic from the ground and whether you're there during the day or night you'll find that if you do go up, there will be a line. Not just to go up, but to come down. Long lines are pretty standard even off season, so during high tourist times expect long waits. Our visit was early evening into dark and from beginning to end (standing in line to buy tickets, to getting down and heading out it took over 3 hours. On a cold evening in February no less. Imagine how long that would be in June. Eh, consider before spending the money. At 25 euro apiece its not inexpensive, and while it is incredible to see Paris laid out at your feet, standing on the ground is the best way to see both Paris and the Eiffel Tower in my opinion. read more
So it's a little bittersweet to not be giving this a five star review since it was a dream come true for myself coming to Paris as one of my first travel experiences. Don't get me wrong, the tower itself was a sight to behold, and I think the novelty of being there adds a lot to the feeling of greatness. But I think the other aspects of actually being there is what made me give it an OK score. The crowd didn't bother me as much but with a herd of tourists, we tend to be easy targets for scammers and pushy vendors. I have witnessed it first hand, when a couple girls tried to scam a poor man by distracting him with a "survey" until another man intervened and told the girls off (later I was told were what they refer to as "gypsies"). So anyone visiting, just me extremely aware of your surroundings and do not trust anyone that approaches you. Keep an eye on your belongings too. We had to take the trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower, because why not? We were already there. Omg, it gets bad when your trying to find your way through a sea of people all jammed into the same space with nowhere to go. The view of Paris was spectacular though, so it made up for it. Overall, it was a nice experience to have done, but only once. read more

You gotta love the Eiffel Tower!! Even just hanging out here is fun, with tons of love and magic in the air, hehe.Speaking of love my husband asked my to marry him here.. What a smart guy..well he also had the passports...LOL We came here during the day and took the elevator up, which shows great views of the city. After walking around and seeing the gift shop, etc (you can also enjoy some champagne here or dine in), we decided to take the stairs down, which was really fun to do! If the weather's great, why not get some exercise in? Next time, I'd probably go up and down the stairs more, hehe. Only a few people do it, too. read more
