This place is home to a close knit group of professional barfrequenters and the college crowd. I bartended here throughout college, and my life has forever been changed. The verdict is still out if it was for better or worse. If you are looking for specialty cocktails, a variety of beer on tap, handcrafted whiskeys, and a smoke free atmosphere, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE. Cocktails are limited to options such Jack and Coke in a plastic cup. That being said, thats what makes this place what it is. If you want old school music playing from a jukebox (think Al Green and Sam Cooke), a very interesting yet smoky atmosphere of a 1940's shoe store morphed into a barroom, and a conversation with some interesting individuals and hardcore videopoker players from all socioeconomic backgrounds, you have found your spot.

It has the cheapest beer in town (cash only), but don't expect a wide variety in your drinks. The crowd is full of barely legal types and the barely alive regulars that circle the bar at all hours of the day. Rene's has a funky local vibe to it. The main problem is that you probably lose 5-years of your life each time you come here due to all of the smoke you inhale. You should wash your clothes and shower immediately upon leaving here; which could be a good pick-up line.

It was only like 6:00 pm so not packed at all. The bartenders were so nice and welcoming. We stuck out like sore thumbs and they could tell it was our first time there lol. They immediately offered menus, suggestions, etc. I didn't have long so I opted for a small liquid marijuana daiquiri. IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOD!! It has the perfect amount of bite. So after the fight we just had to come back. That was when the party was starting lol. It was packed. Karaoke going! We had SO much fun and again, the bartenders were impeccable! They kept up with the ever growing crowd with ease! Look this is your typical, small, hometown bar. Lots of locals. But again, even though we clearly were not locals (didn't have my Nicholls red on lol), we were made to feel very welcomed. Both visits. We do plan on coming back next time we're out there and will definitely get out there early enough to try the food! Just want to reiterate one more time, the bartenders were amazing. I wish I could have gotten their names but it was a girl and a guy behind the bar the first time and then later that night it was 2 girls and 1 guy. It was the night/morning of October 7 so if they happen to see this thank you!!!

Indoor space has a room with approximately 3 pool tables, and two large bars, one on the higher level next to the bathrooms and dance floor with tvs, and another bar on the lower level with seats and small standing tables. This was a very large bar and I enjoyed how there were many places to socialize and different options of things to do like play pool or dance. The crowd is very young here, mostly college age, with a few older people sprinkled in. This bar is conveniently located next to two other popular bars which you can pop in and out of. The bartenders and staff here are also college age but everyone was friendly and attentive. The music was mostly top 40s and songs from the 2010's which the crowd enjoyed. My only complaint was that the area around the bathroom on the second level by the bar smelt like urine, as if people urinated on the walls near the bathroom. It smelt like a train station in this area. Otherwise, I enjoyed my time at this bar. There was also police presence inside of the bar checking for underaged drinking. The parking in the area was decent as there were many spots available alongside of the small creek.

Although it's a tight squeeze on a Thursday night or weekender, you can always slide to the bar and grab your drink and head back to the dance floor or your table. The pole in the corner also offers not only a great sitting area for small parties of friends, but great entertainment when others climb on up and see who can do the best strip tease. Overall, Rox's Bar will provide anyone with great fun and entertainment in the Thibodaux area on a weekend or Thursday night. Highly recommend a good place to make memories with friends.
