The main course was sliced fish absolutely loaded with the tiniest splinter bones imaginable, so be careful. It was incredibly bland and flavorless, served with cold potatoes and peas. Tourist trap? It certainly felt like one. Don't mean to be rude but have to be honest. Great service and decent prices gets then 2 stars! So far, our experience with Madrid food has been a lot of stale bread and mayonnaise on just about everything. Hopefully today changes my mind.

All the items were tasting and typical. My take on the D.O. (aged) steaks of the different breeds. The meat is cut about 1/4 inch thick and served on a platter and each dinner cooks their own on a hot plate. It good but doesn't take advantage of the meat like a hot seer and medium heat finish would. What fancy steakhouse cooks on a flat top or frying pan? Next time I will order a la carte - I would order a cooked steak and not the D.O. system.

They serve several portions with variety of starters including Red wine leading up to the main course which is a combination of flank steak pieces you cook to your tasting and pan fried fish. The decorations, ambiance, endless pictures of sport celebrities, and the service are all very nice additions. I highly recommend the place for small groups.

The maitre d was especially gracious as we missed our reservation the previous night and allowed us to dine here today! He did an excellent job describing each dish in english too! The presentation was very creative and beautiful to the eye. I would recommend visiting this restaurant - if you're in Madrid well worth eating here.

So if you don't want, you need to ask to send them back. I knew they charge and the sausages were delicious. 5/5 Callos 4/5. The callos was so rich. I would need to dip with bread. It was too rich to be eaten alone. I'm not sure how to eat this stew by itself. Salmon croquettes 4/5. The croquettes were super cheesy so it really depends on your taste. The meal was so full and was intended to be shared. At the end, the restaurant gave us free coffee shot. It was the first time some restaurant in Madrid even gave out something free. The restaurant itself was quiet and we went, there were many empty tables.

El Senador had been around for a long time and was highly rated on yelp, but it was not impossible to get a reservation, unlike Botin which had hordes of people waiting outside and completely booked for several months. El Senador was very close to the Royal Palace, housed in an old building, exuded history. The meal started with bread and a delicious pan fried sausage called chistorra. We ordered the calamari and the bean soup as a starter, then roast lamb (1 person portion) and suckling pig (1 person portion) as mains. The calamari was generously sized, but tasted just ok, very simply seasoned and looked better than it tasted. The chistorra was succulent and flavorful. The giant bean soup was also hardy and savory. The mains were disappointing and glad we got 1 person portion size instead of 2. I didn't see the hype. Flavors were monotonous, like they were only seasoned with salt. The suckling pig had crispy skin, but not blistered like Chinese roast suckling pig. The side of sauce/dripping provided little additional flavor. Honestly, I would rather have the Chinese roast suckling pig over these. The dessert was also a huge disappointment. The apple dessert was just thinly sliced and caramalized apple topped with a scoop of ice cream. I expected a tart or some kind of cobbler/pie creation here, but no, just plain sliced apples. The meal ended with a shot of licor de cafe y nata, which was a delicious sweet ending, much better than the apple dessert.

This restaurant is absolutely phenomenal whether you are looking for typical Spanish food or fresh…read moreseafood! The restaurant is pretty upscale and a bit pricey if you get into the seafood platters. We went for a traditional and quality Spanish meal. We got the gambas al ajillo, pulpo, croquetas and cachopo. The shrimp were large and super fresh, same with the octopus. The croquetas were homemade and super delicious and the cachopo was enough to feed an army - they used quality cheese and prosciutto. The food was served timely and everything was hot, fresh and so so good. The service matched the quality of our food. We had two servers, one for food and one for drinks. We ordered a round of sidra (here is not poured in the traditional Asturian way-by machine instead) red and white wine and water for the table. The servers did not miss a beat coming to the table to refill drinks when they were low. Split between 4 people, the price was only €22 per person, waaaaay low considering the atmosphere and quality and quantity of the food and service! We are not huge seafood lovers but by the judge of everyone around this, this is the place to be for both traditional Spanish food and seafood lovers!

We ended up getting the 3 course dinner for 2, a special they're offering for the Spring. Also got the wine paired with it. Delicious! The appetizer serving came with 4-5 different starters, all very good. The tuna samosas and the sausage egg rolls were AMAZING. The hake was soooo good as were the potatoes that came with it. Steak was perfect, minimally seasoned and well cooked. We were too stuffed for dessert, but the bites I had of the rice pudding and cheesecake were divine. Wine was also very good. Service was similarly good. Had some language barriers, but pointing, nodding, smiling worked. The next best thing.... the price. Everything was high quality, well done, and not outrageously priced. Highly recommended.

This was just a few minutes of walking distance from our Sonder suite. After shopping for 6 hours, we were famished. We walked in around 7:30pm. They were kind enough to turn on the lights up for us in the dining room and seat us (dinner usually starts at 8-10pm in Spain). Let me just say that service was a class act from start to finish. Here is what we ordered: My son: I am going to have the Cod Tripe. What are you ordering, mom? Me: the Oxtail Traditional My son: Oooh, I will have some of yours too. Me: of course you are. My son: you can have one of my tripe. Please know that most places will ask if you want bread. They will charge you for it. My son used the bread to soak up the Cod Tripe Soup. I loved the chickpeas and I am happy my son got to have tripe before leaving Spain. It was on his bucket list of things to eat here. Our waiter came by with complimentary gazpacho and omg, what a delightful treat. It was perfect on a hot summer day. It had bits of potatoes and pears. I wanted a whole bowl. I think this place is a hidden gem!! Surprised that there are not more reviews. The food was absolutely delicious. It had that homemade touch! Don't forget to order dessert. We got the Pineapple Presented in 3 Textures. It had coconut milk and sago on one side and cinnamon crumbles on the other. The pineapple had sprinkles of salt. The flavor profiles tickled my tongue. Perfect on this 88 degree day. Truly worth a visit!
