Very patient and helpful with American travelers! Had fast and great service, had good portion sizes. Got recommended the spaghetti carbonara and enjoyed it!

    Lemon meringue

Lemon meringue was delicious! Definitely try if you're in the area, and you can get a table. Good location, portion, and prices.

Trattoria La Tavernella - Capricciosa Pizza

Situated at a busy intersection, this is a great no frills mom and pop pizza/pasta joint. We ate here and had takeout several times. The pizzas here were excellent. We had the marinara and capricciosa pizzas. Loved the thin crust and the herby tomato sauce - they were to die for. Eat here for an authentic local Italian experience. The two pasta dishes that we took out (penne arrabiata and bolognese) were unfortunately overcooked and tasteless. We recommend the pizzas over the pasta. Service was quick and efficient.

Very friendly service and the food was great. Ordered the house wine who via cheaper than ordering water. Got the manicotti and linguini puttanesca. For seconds we got another app which was fried veggies and squash blossoms me the we got s mixed grill and some shrimp. Too much food ordered, we took some back to the apartment. Great al fresco dining

    10 euro set menu.

We were in Prati area and went to a restaurant highly recommended by Yelp reviewers. But it was totally empty at 7:30 pm in late November. Discouraged we were walking around to find a place to eat. Hungry and tired, we saw this small restaurant on a small alley off the busy street. We walked in only because we saw their 10 euro set menu. Had choice of 3 pizzas. Only word that my wife knew was fungi so we ordered that. They did not speak much English but somehow we asked the lady who seems to be the owner to recommend a menu. She suggested some kind of lasagna. Did not expect much initially. But first bite on Bruschetta told me otherwise. I am not an expert on Italian food but it was just way different. Did not expect much of mushroom pizza either. It is just mushroom over cheese, right? Oh it tasted so good. Lasagna did not have familiar red sauce. It had white sauce on it and it just tasted great. Our only regret is that we had to leave early the next morning and could not go back to this place. If I ever go back to Rome, this is the place I will go to. It looked like a family owned place. We could not communicate too much. But I would like to say to mama, that we appreciate her good foods and thank her for opening our palate for real Italian food.

This was in 2002. We enjoyed the restaurant and have eaten there at least every time we are in Rome.
 Great food, fantastic service!!!

The worst dining experience in all my life. Staff was rude and essentially rushed me out. Don't go here.

Everyone needs a trip to Italy, if nothing more than to enjoy all of the food…read more When you've landed, you're hungry, and it's not lunch time, and it's not dinner time, you may end up, selling for whatever you can find is open We were absolutely starving, and wanting to indulge in our first Italian meal, what do you do when you're in Italy?! You may want to indulge in pasta or pizza! We walked in, and we were immediately seated. Air conditioning is nonexistent, and on a hot summer day, it would've been cooler to dine outside. had that been an option, and it was 95° out. As soon as we were seated, we were immediately told that Pizza and some of their baked Italian dishes were not going to be available. Boo. The wait staff seemed fairly nice, and offered to bring us glasses of water. The glasses were super tiny, and thankfully the waitress brought over a carafe of water. We asked for a few suggestions, since both of us had been craving pizza, and she suggested the Carbonara. She said it was one of the best dishes. While we were waiting for our food, several other tables were immediately filled up with other customers, families and friends alike. It was interesting that those tables were served pizza... I'll just leave it at that. The carbonara Was anything less than delicious. We both found the pasta to be barely cooked. Not al dente, but barely cooked. The seasoning was mediocre, and there was very little pork, which is supposed to be the highlight of this dish, in this dish. Diners tip: if you are not a local, keep in mind that your version of Customer Service may or may not fit what Customer Service is in Rome. Despite being hungry, I had a hard time, finishing the food, let alone actually eating it. The waitress only came over at the end to drop off the check, and when she noticed that I had barely eaten anything, first gave me a strange look, and then asked about it. It was definitely one of those situations where saying something was wrong would've been met with unwanted attention. This is in a place to add to your must try list... There are plenty of other places, even in and around this area that more than likely would be a better choice.

Bufala pizza with red sauce and lasagna was excellent. Seating was fast and good serviceread more
