A small menu without a single word of English, a waiter with very limited English language skills who seemed to ignore us, and a half-full dining room should have been sufficient warning. But the vibe felt right, so we settled in.
A small menu is fine when every line offers a knockout (and takes less time to translate). The waiter's singular focus was gratifying when finally turned our way. And the small crowd was probably due to this week's yacht event down at the waterfront.
I ordered foie gras with poached pear (the waiter reminded me three times that it was only a starter) and Mrs ordered ravioli nicoise. We share our food, and there was plenty for both of us. I'm not an expert on the nuances of foie gras, but tonight's meal inspires me to learn! It was decadent! The ravioli was very rich and complex. I sopped up every drop of gravy before we let the waiter take our plates. The waiter recommended passion fruit cake for dessert, but we ordered the mixed plate and coffee instead. The mixed plate was good, but I wish we'd followed his suggestion.
Location was excellent; on a quiet lane right in the middle of old town. Service was slow and careful. Presentation was flawless.
