Yesterday, I went in, looking for a wall plug for USB charging, a young man came up and asked if he could help me. I got what I wanted, we started chatting, and I ended buying a 'go pro' style camera that was on special, simply because he was so knowledgeable and friendly! The only complaint I have, is that I don't get their circular in the mail, and the website is not working. PS: Don't know why Facebook said I am in San Francisco, I live in DDO!!!!

Went to a place in Vaudreuil-Dorion suffice to say they did not fix the problem, so in desperation went to Surplustek...and guess what after a few days got a call that my PC was pretty sick, lots of malware, virus etc. incompatibility with some of my hardware, to make a long story short, my desktop is working just fine did a lot of cleaning up and disk cleaning. Very happy customer, the technician Stephane and his wife Virginie are fantastic and knowledgeable. Their prices are very competitive and they don't do B.S. and that is why I will always have a good word for them and their business, they sell anything and everything and they have a computer shop where you can get a new life for your desktop. Looking for an electronics repair specialist to fill out my tech team roster, this guy came highly…read morerecommended by none other than Sandra Philips of Smart Shopping Montreal, only for this cool cat turning out to be a weasel in disguise. He did an excellent job at first, and ordinarily this place would deserve a five star review but for the owner's insistence on ripping me off and then lying about it. In the Spring of 2020 I had a Paradigm subwoofer to get fixed and it was supposed to cost me $90.00, but there were complications (the circuit board had a short which burned out the new parts he installed) which led to cost over runs, bringing the bill to $250.00 tax included. Instead of telling me in advance, I only found out when I was coming over to pick it up in the Summer of 2020. He told me to charge the customer $280.00 since the subwoofer was worth $300.00. Needless to say, my customer wasn't pleased and I was lucky to break even. On top of all that, the repair only lasted a couple of weeks, after which the customer (now even less pleased) brought it back to be repaired under warranty. I brought it back to him within the warranty period and this time he couldn't fix it. When it came time to start talking refund, I mentioned the $250.00 it had cost me. He then balked and said that he had never charged anyone that much for a subwoofer repair. He talked to his colleagues and came up with a receipt for $150.00 signed by his techie. This is patently untrue and it's fraudulent. He's laying himself wide open to civil liability and criminal prosecution. Anybody signing their name to this would also be guilty under the law. I've had suspicions before, but now I have the proof that he's been intentionally defrauding me. Other revelations, such as a vintage Pioneer amp that he charged me to fix a year ago but was later found to have never been serviced (my customer had abandoned it and I had to wait to find a potential buyer and get it appraised) are only the icing on the cake. He's an authorized service center for a number of well-known name brands, for God's sake. If you're an individual, maybe you won't get burned. But if you're a business, he seems to take delight in inflicting as much damage as possible if you make them mistake of trusting him and giving him the benefit of the doubt. All this seems calculated to not only cause me frustration but to also make me look bad in the eyes of my customers. If you don't want my business, just say so. But if you take my money, you'd better give me the same level of service that you give your consumer clientele. I don't know about you, but this is sick behavior (which is probably why his assistant techie and delivery guy Jean-Luc quit without warning about a year and a half ago). I hope whatever satisfaction he got was worth making a liar out of everyone who vouched for him and vindicating all his critics. Other than that, he's a good techie. If you want him to cut your keys, go ahead. If you want your watch fixed, I see no risk. He's not that great with smartphones or tablets, though. The nearest wholesaler is in Brossard and his mouthing the owner off has burned bridges with them (something he secretly excels at) and he has to get a proxy to buy the parts for him. Why waste time? He can't fix videogame systems, either. He outsources those repairs to a couple places in LaSalle. Why not go to them directly and cut out the middle man? Either way, I cannot in good conscience recommend him nor refer customers to him anymore.

They carry the whole line. So if you have $50k burning in your pocket and want a pair of speakers, this is the place. However they also carry everyday brands like Sonos and TV's by Sony and Samsung. So instead of going to the American Big Box store for your next TV and speaking with a college student that could care less, come here and speak to someone who's career is audio / video. If there's a sale elsewhere, they'll match the price. The store is also decorated with old antique radios and have unique pieces. Highly recommend!

People who complain about brick-and-mortar prices vs. online should really get a life. At Abra, you can touch, try, ask someone, and you can (shocking!) have your stuff right now if you like it. Try that on your favourite Chinese website! Of course items are more expensive, but you're welcome to wait if you want cheaper. This shop has saved me from many a frustrating weekend where I was missing a bit to finish a project. They have everything a maker would want, from electronic modules for arduino, raspberry pi, micro-bit and the like, to hardware, tools, 3D printers, filament, and even 2020 extrusion in all sizes. My only gripe is that they are only open on weekdays. They would make a killing if they'd open on weekends as well.

I know: I am such a snob. Parts-wise, if you are looing for rows of capacitors and switches that you can actually pick up and touch, this is a terrific place. They have actually overtaken Addison as the better place to buy electronic components like caps, resistors, and board-level things like Raspberry Pi, Arduino and the like. I wouldn't buy semiconductors there (hello, that's what Digikey is for), but if you remember what electornics stores were like in the late last millenium, then you will have pretty good picture of what Abra looks like. they seem to have a lot of imported Asian components these days, but that is pretty par for the course. They have a good selection of soldering supplies and chemicals, whch are sometimes hard to find. Abra is great for the itmes that you need it now. If they have it online, you can just pop over to the store and pick it up.
