Brindisi, although quite large in size, isn't much different. What is lovely about Italy though, is the big family lunches on Sundays - resulting in many good places open on these days. La Locanda Del Porto is located on a path, nearby the beautiful harbour. The restaurant was packed with locals plus some tourists. The latter sitting outside, while locals might prefer inside? Quite odd, but okay. The service was really great. Amazing, actually. They spoke English very well, although I do not expect that, so that's fine if they don't. They did here, so our communication worked better. Food was good. Nothing mindblowing. Do not expect anything above okay. It is decent and I suppose some of the best food in Brindisi - if you are expecting a classic trattoria experience. Missed a higher quality though. They are saying they do seafood very well. They do, but I just do not understand their menu card either saying 'some fish may be frozen'. Seriously guys? No frozen stuff here. Buy in season and rotate your menu. Much more delicious, much more interesting for people. I had a salad with octopus and grana padano. Very good and cheap as well, at only 7€. Having said that, this wasn't much above average. We are talking iceberg lettuce, olives, red onions + the two ingredients mentioned above. Being used to salad places like in Copenhagen, London and New York, this salad falls short. I would gladly return to this place though. I loved the relaxing space and the decent food.

The calamari and the pasta were very good but the mixed salad was just plain salad mix with no dressing. I'm not sure if that's how it normally is or not. And my sea bass filet was very soft and had a lot of bones.

Awesome experience…read more Authentic house made bruschetta, seafood, pasta and ravioli. Great owner and chef who made sure we were happy with our dishes. Primitivo wine was wonderful - they have a house and bottled version. Make sure you try their Puglia olive oil!

While we are the capital of food on some levels, this is the kind of food that I prefer. Pasta is al dente, very fresh and very sincere. Simple ingredients whipped together. The cook comes out, the other cook comes out they say hello it's not cloying nobody is phony. It's the best way. Sincere and real. And not expensive. The waitress is very charming and sweet and no nonsense. One party left and she whipped the tablecloth so often threw more tablecloths back on. I had bruschetta that was delicious. I ordered ricotta forte because I was curious. It is funky it's spreadable cheese, but it is fermented with yeast and bacteria, so it is salty and pungent and a little bit bitter. It's very interesting and it's not for the faint at heart. Put it in the stinky cheese category Also had shrimp artichoke pasta. Delicious. And baked mussels with breadcrumbs. I found this hard to eat, because the muscles are still adhering to the inside of the shell. I don't know. I couldn't quite figure it out. And I had a quarter of wine. Everything was great. I ate too much.
