I buy this salsa every week at my local Von's - I've been doing that for years as it's our favorite salsa. In the last several months this keeps happening WAY before the expiration date. It's fizzy and you cannot eat it. Does anyone know what is going on? I want to give 5 stars because it's our favorite, but we have to be able to eat it!

    Would you eat this?
    RE P.

WOULD YOU EAT THIS? For no particular reason I decided to try a different salsa. This at my local Ralphs. I chose the "hot" La Salsa Chilena garlic. I must say I was pleased with the taste and texture, and the "heat" was manageable. I would rate it nearly as high as the Costco brand, which I would rate as superior, among the best I've ever tasted. I subsequently bought several more 16 oz. tubs. The following day I noted that both containers had become bloated. This did not inspire confidence. I opened one container and some of the contents gushed out. I cleaned up and put it back in the 'fridge. I also noted that the unopened container had also swelled up, due likely to gases that were being created. The expiration date was "11/23 [23]" on both containers. (It is 11/16/23 as I compose this.) I've seen bloated cans due to botulism, and so am aware of the possible dangers associated with bloating. I immediately called La Salsa Chilena (numerous times) to alert them of the incident; to pass on lot numbers if necessary. I was never able to reach them, their phones lines seem non-functioning. This has by necessity forced me to utilize this site as a public warning; and I hope the issue is not related to slip-shod sanitary preparations on their end.

This is the best salsa on the face of the planet! Delicious, the right consistency. Mild or spicy. I have it on everything.

Its a health safety concern. There is always more than one hair in salsa. Staff not wearing hair nets!!!!

The mild salsa that I buy at my local Ralphs is my absolute favorite salsa! Very addictive. Yum.

Found two blond hairs. I am so grossed out. It used to be my favorite salsa. The owners should get it together.

First time trying this salsa today. I thought it was very good until I came across three blonde hairs in it. Very disappointed!

From cheeses, meats, breads, a pretty extensive frozen section, there are so many treasures you can find here. I came here with my cousin who was looking for some specific food items, side, and purchase anything myself on this trip. Partly because I was gonna be out all day and didn't want the food sitting in my car. But definitely if I plan better next time I'm in San Diego I wanna buy stuff to bring back home. Just a gem of a find. There also seems to be plenty of parking in the area as we parked pretty much right out front.

I should have purchased the Beurre d'Isigny butter here rather than going to Paris, buying Bordier butter vacuum sealed butter, having the hotel freeze it, then paying extra for check in luggage since it's a colder storage area. Cuisenery didn't have Bordier butter but when I was doing my online research, I found that both of the brands I mentioned are pretty good. I actually liked my Beurre d'Isigny butter better, but that's more likely due to it being unsalted versus the salted version I bought in Paris (apparently, you MUST use salted on your bread per the Parisians). They also had a bunch of other frozen foods and condiments, including frozen escargot in puff pastry, frozen baguettes, mustards, and jams.

[Parking]: Parking can be somewhat difficult during busy weekends, but there are designated parking lots throughout Liberty Station so it will require a bit of patience and driving around to find an available spot. [Amenities]: Free Wi-Fi and public restrooms are available. The market has multiple patio seating areas. There is a bar called Mess Hall Bar with TVs, but they were not showing the sports games our party wanted to watch. Please note that the food hall is located close to San Diego International Airport so visitors can hear noises on airplanes taking off and getting ready to land. [Vendors]: The market has some vendors selling books and handcrafted items. As for the food options, I thought they were fairly mediocre compared to other food halls in Los Angeles or Orange County. Some recommended options include Parana (empanadas), Wicked Maine Lobster (lobster rolls), Kebab Craft (Mediterranean food), and Mama Made Thai (Pad Thai). [Conclusion]: While it is great to see San Diego have a food hall that houses various cuisines in one spot, the market has a subpar parking situation, noise pollution from airplanes, and not-so-exciting food options. P.S. - If visitors have extra time to spare, then definitely walk around and check out the nearby art galleries and small museums.
