The raspberry croissant was decadent and flaky. It was excellent. The classic croissant was not as good. It was not as crisp or flaky. The Bret always was interesting. It tasted like a heavily fried and dense version of a palmera and was covered in glaze, chocolate and filled with raspberry. It was a little much for me. They offer full brunches on Saturday mornings for €12, but on other days still have a wide range of affordable breakfast items you can order a la carte. I enjoyed their herb-seasoned Salmon Salad, which came with plentiful strips of cured salmon atop a huge bed of greens that was enough to share. Their empanadas were also nice and crispy. The yogurt tasted like nothing more than generic yogurt with corn flakes on top, and was a bit of a letdown. As a dessert, I picked up one of their dulce de leche-flavored Alfajores, which served as the perfect snack during my cafe break when touring the Prado Museum later in the day. Also of note is their coffee menu. They've got about 8 or so choices of plantation-specific coffee beans to choose from. I was glad to see Columbia, my favorite country for coffee beans, and greatly enjoyed my cup of espresso here. Service was friendly, and atmosphere was nice as well, with a long wooden communal table in the middle and small tables set up along the walls. I came here for breakfast one morning, but ultimately decided to try another place the following day. While I wouldn't say Martina Cocina is worth going out of your way for, it's not a bad stop if you are already in the area.

It was so good chile, I came back the next day and got a full-sized one for lunch and it was still just as good. The space inside is clean and room with lots of comfy furniture; in addition, they also have free WiFi and clean bathrooms which is always appreciated while out and about in the city on vacation. If you're in Madrid (or Mexico City or Japan where there other locations are) this place is a must try! PS: The have a rewards app and will give you a free plain buttery croissant for joining.

I admit I'm a parmesan fanatic. This cheesecake has such an interesting, intense flavor. The texture was indeed "melting" - gooey on the inside, a little bit more set toward the outside. It was rich but not overly sweet, and had a savory kick from the parmesan. I will be dreaming about this cheesecake until I hopefully make it back to Madrid again one day. I came here for dessert and coffee after lunch at the Mercado de la Paz. I also got a lovely café con leche to go with the cheesecake.
