    Lupita's Taqueria & Restaurant - Horchata - very good

Their lengua (tongue) tacos, shrimp ceviche, mole enchiladas, nachos, and horchata- holy shit! So good!!! I came here with 3 fellow yelpers and 2 kids who all approved! Upon being seated, Lupita's gave us a basket of yummy, crunchy, thick tortilla chips and salsa. Our table already had red tomato-based and green tomatillo-based sauces in jars as all-purpose condiments, both with shy spice that slowly builds. After a few minutes, we were served everything we ordered at the same time. To drink, their milk-based Horchata- spiced with cinnamon and hints of almond/sesame had just enough sweetness- so delicious! Their tasty Lengua Tacos impressed with the perfect texture of tender, marinated beef tongue uplifted by lime, onions, and cilantro. Then the Shrimp Ceviche was so fresh, so yum with a similar but more tomato-based preparation topped with fresh avocado. Then the Mole Enchiladas were all about the sauce (only available on the weekend) -so chocolatey, slightly smokey, and spicy! I didn't waste any of this. Their Nachos Special had the best toppings and a delightful black bean mash equally distributed among all chips. We couldn't leave this alone. Then Holy Guacamole! Their guac was really good and addictive, even without any spice. Finally, the Cheese Quesadilla was just meh- I wouldn't get this again, but everything else- YES, PLEASE!!!

I had the steak tacos and it was incredibly comforting and flavorful. The Horchata was great too. The service was okay -- not outstanding but not bad either. If you come from a Mexican family and are feeling homesick then this is absolutely the kind of place that will make you feel right at home. The staff is predominantly Spanish-speaking so keep that in mind if you plan to visit for the first time.

This time, I stopped in on a Friday night to check out the upstairs. The drinks were a 10/10 -- absolutely delicious and strong without skimping. The daiquiri and the chips and salsa were definitely the highlights of the night. The food was just okay. The garlic shrimp were pretty good, but the rice lacked flavor and the refried beans were barely a tablespoon spread across the plate. We also had the shrimp cocktail appetizer, which was just alright -- the shrimp were a little tough. Service was great. The waiter was friendly and attentive and moved fast! Overall, it's a fun vibe and a great spot to hang out and catch up over drinks, but I'd come more for the bar than the food. There's a municipal parking lot a short walk from the main entrance.

I went for happy hour 4-6pm in the bar which had $6 margaritas and $5-9 appetizers. I enjoyed the street corn which was covered in toppings. I shared the mini chicken chimi and wings which were flavorful and tasty. I felt the portions were decent to fill us up for dinner. They even had live music in the bar area on Wednesday nights! The vibes are definitely of an old school Mexican restaurant and a bit dark inside. Service is always friendly!

The meat is perfect and I get that they wanna keep the natural flavors of the meats which is great but they just need a literal tinsy bit of salt. Service is nice but I can't speak for ambiance due to not dining in. For some reason I don't get full off these tacos like when I go to Los tacos in New York. (Try Los tacos!!) Okay the tip review was from 2025 I have been here about 7 times. The tacos taste a bit better but them tortillas man! They need better tortillas the texture of meat is good and you want your food to stay together while you eat it.

They only have outdoor seating, and you have to go around the back for the dining area. I liked that they had games on each table (giant uno, giant Jenga) so it seems like a cool spot to meet up with some friends. There was some sort of taco special going on (2 for $8, but add $1 if it's a seafood taco). Here is what we ordered: -Pork belly taco (roasted pork belly, salsa verde, pickled red onion) - definitely my favorite. The pork was so tender and flavorful -Lobster taco - (chilled lobster, chipotle aioli, red onion, corn, avocado, blue corn hard shell) - this was kind of like a lobster salad but I really liked it. I considered ordering another one of these two but I was already full from the additional pork belly taco -Crispy fish taco (panko breaded white fish, lettuce, pico, chipotle mayo, flour tortilla) - this was a solid fish taco -Spicy jerk chicken taco (roasted chicken thigh, mango salsa, crema, pickled onion, guacamole) - this one was my least favorite. The chicken was dry, and it's pretty hard to overcook chicken thigh -Birria burrito lunch special - my husband ordered this one and it was soo dry. Since it said birria, we thought it would have come with consommé, but it didn't. I don't think that would have helped much though. Lunch specials come with your choice of yellow rice & black beans, salad, or fries. He chose fries and they tasted like when you have leftover fries from McDonalds and pop them in the toaster oven the next day (not good) -Chicharron - tough and dry As I mentioned, this spot is a little far for us so I would probably only go back if I was ever in the area for some more pork belly and lobster tacos. But I wouldn't go out of my way to do so. Tip - BYOB
