This review is based solely off the food & service I was offered at the @NjTacoFestival this year…read morevia their taco truck! Service: All of the workers seemed insanely happy and excited to be here. They were insanely fast, and attentive to the fast paced environment. Food: I ordered the quesabirria, that came with a side of consume. It was huge and FULL of meat! I was full nearly all day off of that alone. Their *super spicy* diabla sauce, was the BEST I'd ever had in all of my years of tacos, and it was actually spicy! (Ya girl is feeling it today ). Usually when I order this sauce it's wildly red and not spicy at all. I quite literally went and asked the folks at the end of the fest if I could buy a container of their sauce, and they handed me some and say they make it fresh in house daily! I cannot wait to go visit this spot in person, till then I'll be ordering via uber eats for sure!

I ordered food through their app. The first issue I saw was that the app kept saying preparing food…read moreeven after I picked it up. I order the torta de milanesa and the enchiladas. I ate the torta and maybe like 1-2 hours later I felt weird and later ended up getting sick from my stomach . My wife got the enchiladas and thankfully she noticed that the flavor was off and tasted weird so decided not to eat them. They really need to make sure their food is safe to eat and not spoiled. Don't think I'll be ordering from here again.

Woahhh!!! A slice of Mexico lands in New Jersey! Lupita's boasts authentic flavors as the best…read moreMexican spot in the area. This hole-in-the-wall reminds me of what possible feels like! Their lengua (tongue) tacos, shrimp ceviche, mole enchiladas, nachos, and horchata- holy shit! So good!!! I came here with 3 fellow yelpers and 2 kids who all approved! Upon being seated, Lupita's gave us a basket of yummy, crunchy, thick tortilla chips and salsa. Our table already had red tomato-based and green tomatillo-based sauces in jars as all-purpose condiments, both with shy spice that slowly builds. After a few minutes, we were served everything we ordered at the same time. To drink, their milk-based Horchata- spiced with cinnamon and hints of almond/sesame had just enough sweetness- so delicious! Their tasty Lengua Tacos impressed with the perfect texture of tender, marinated beef tongue uplifted by lime, onions, and cilantro. Then the Shrimp Ceviche was so fresh, so yum with a similar but more tomato-based preparation topped with fresh avocado. Then the Mole Enchiladas were all about the sauce (only available on the weekend) -so chocolatey, slightly smokey, and spicy! I didn't waste any of this. Their Nachos Special had the best toppings and a delightful black bean mash equally distributed among all chips. We couldn't leave this alone. Then Holy Guacamole! Their guac was really good and addictive, even without any spice. Finally, the Cheese Quesadilla was just meh- I wouldn't get this again, but everything else- YES, PLEASE!!!

This was only my first time at Lupita's but I 100% plan to return. The food was truly authentic…read moremexican food and dining in the restaurant made me feel like I was actually in Mexico. I had the steak tacos and it was incredibly comforting and flavorful. The Horchata was great too. The service was okay -- not outstanding but not bad either. If you come from a Mexican family and are feeling homesick then this is absolutely the kind of place that will make you feel right at home. The staff is predominantly Spanish-speaking so keep that in mind if you plan to visit for the first time.

This time, I stopped in on a Friday night to check out the upstairs. The drinks were a 10/10 -- absolutely delicious and strong without skimping. The daiquiri and the chips and salsa were definitely the highlights of the night. The food was just okay. The garlic shrimp were pretty good, but the rice lacked flavor and the refried beans were barely a tablespoon spread across the plate. We also had the shrimp cocktail appetizer, which was just alright -- the shrimp were a little tough. Service was great. The waiter was friendly and attentive and moved fast! Overall, it's a fun vibe and a great spot to hang out and catch up over drinks, but I'd come more for the bar than the food. There's a municipal parking lot a short walk from the main entrance.

I went for happy hour 4-6pm in the bar which had $6 margaritas and $5-9 appetizers. I enjoyed the street corn which was covered in toppings. I shared the mini chicken chimi and wings which were flavorful and tasty. I felt the portions were decent to fill us up for dinner. They even had live music in the bar area on Wednesday nights! The vibes are definitely of an old school Mexican restaurant and a bit dark inside. Service is always friendly!
