Disclaimer: I am an omnivore. I *love* a good piece of meat, whether beef, pork, fish, or fowl. Whenever I visit a restaurant that includes "vegetarian / vegan options," I avoid them. It seems those places try to accommodate the person in the group that doesn't eat meat, and usually serve a bland glop. Well...
When going to a restaurant like La Riera, where ALL of the menu options are vegetarian or vegan, you know that they'll understand spicing. Nuance. FLAVOR. La Riera absolutely does! Our party of four walked in a bit late for lunch (it was almost 3:30, after an extended tour of Camp Nou) but they graciously seated us and were happy to explain their dishes in English. I had their "menu al dia," which included three plates and a dessert, plus either a white sangria or a juice. (The entire table shared a wonderful pan integral and a large bottle of water.)
The mushroom soup was certainly in the top five I've had. EVER. The vegetarian paella was flavorful (although the texture of the rice was a little overdone). My third plate was a wonderful vegetable and tofu combination that was absolutely spectacular! The apple tart I had for dessert was very tasty indeed, and a generous portion. We dd not feel rushed, AT ALL, even though when we left an hour later we were the last ones there. All of this for € 10 per person. I'll have to find another excuse to visit that side of town again, if only to return to La Riera! read more
