We happened into this little place on a chilly evening in August, hoping they would have a table for us as we did not have a reservation, and it was simply too cold and damp to eat outside. The place was fairly empty on arrival, but we know how quickly that can change, and how the French very much prefer reservations.
The hostess was lovely, and gave us a choice of several little tables in a small cavern in the back. Charming. And sure enough, by the time our food arrived, all the inhabitants of the village of Barjac had arrived as well. The place was packed!
For good reason. I had the Ardechoise pizza, which was generous (read: also the next day's lunch) and very tasty featuring the local cuisine. Carol had the salad with chevre chaud. Also generous and well seasoned. Along with a pichet of vin rouge, and we were out the door for around 30 euros, and very happy. read more
