The sign says "Pizza Dan" and it's located right off the main square. This is the real deal,…read morewood-fired pizza. However, as usual it has the requisite idiosyncracies of franco-italian food: the margherita is now the "san diego" and comes with olives instead of basil. Not a problem, though, since every garden in the area has handfuls of basil easily at hand. We had three pizzas for about 24 euros - and all were great: nice chewy crust and plenty of toppings.
Dan is also super-friendly. When I told him that, back in Toronto, I was building my own pizza oven in my garden, he came back with a giant container full of ground olive pits. Apparently, he uses them to prevent the pizzas from sticking, and they don't burn like flour would. Look for olive-pit-bottomed-pizza in a Leslieville backyard soon!
