La Raza was lots of fun! We went to celebrate the Mountain Fair with a big group of friends and had a blast. It was my friend's birthday, and our waitress Nayeli was so sweet! She was super funny and brought out free birthday shots and a really yummy flan. I wish I could give five stars, but the food just wasn't amazing. It was good, but the duck was rather bland and it just wasn't delicious, authentic food. However, service was amazing, and after dinner the restaurant was turned into a club/bar type establishment, so dancing was super fun. read more

Tried again to visit a local restaurant but keep getting the same miserable bartender. She hates her job and has zero awareness for customer service. I've gone above and beyond to be kind and sweet to her but to no avail. I will always turn and walk out if she's working moving forward. Paying exorbitant prices at a restaurant is only acceptable when the service is acceptable. read more

My buddy asked what kind of beers they had there and the bar tender told us to look at the menu....a little shit talking and a fight insued the bar tender was extremely unpleasant, then the manager started putting his hands on me. I told him not to touch me. He was trying to intimidate me with his size, but these muscles ain't gonna let no lurch intimidate me.. The restaurant was empty. Not great, watery refried beans, too much boring rice, steak taco was great but can not eat a soggy wet uncooked tortilla, guac was ok but had to add salt pepper, lime and picante to eat it. Twice the price of MiCasita! NO BUENO!!! read more

Finally! Swung by and realized they had opened early and changed our reservation with friends to check it out. We had some drinks (good marg and paloma), and tried out the Chile Verde with Chicken. We thought it would be more soupy but ended up being dense/thick. Still really tasty with chips but don't ordered if you're wanting something soup-y. Had a good lunch here. Mango salad was amazing. Service was great. I think they took some comments about the guac to heart and maybe added too much salt, but in general I would say you can have a nice meal for lunch or dinner. read more

No one checked on us during our meal. Finally got someone to ask for more chips, never got them. Service - Fine, hard to screw up 2 people at lunch on a Monday with no others in the restaurant. Food - two tacos for each of us, one ordered two asada and one ordered two shrimp. After months of waiting La Raza has finally opened and Carbondale deserves much better than the food being offered here. The new owners should have stuck with much of the menu that Mi Casita had crafted. Gone are the locally sourced tortillas from La Roca and instead we are treated to tortillas from a package and beans from a can. The queso fundido is graining amd congealed, the guacamole is old looking and watery. And none of the food is salted leaving it all very bland. read more

Tonight was our second time eating here in a week and both meals were very good. Our first visit was a gathering for the Big Buddy program and they supplied a variety of delicious food. Favorites were the ceviche, and tacos. We decided to stay for dinner and the combination chicken enchilada and chili relleno were delicious. On our second visit I had a taco pescado and a taco cochinita pibil with rice and beans all of which was very good. The margaritas are excellent and chips and salsa were fresh and tasty, a true test of a good Mexican restaurant. read more

I would not recommend. I am not one to leave bad reviews, but I want to save people their money and time. The carne asada plate was $28 with a small piece of carne and no rice, beans or tortillas. Traditionally when you order a carne plate it comes loaded with at least rice and beans for a lower price. Yes, even in the roaring fork valley you can get a much better plate of carne for around $20. The service was poor. I think the guy was as high as a kite. Which is expected in Carbondale. Three of the eight orders were put in wrong and still put on the bill. I understand the service industry is in a hard place with staffing. However I would not suggest this place based on my recent experience. read more

Two months in and they're providing excellent food. I had only one minor complaint about my food not being quite hot enough-it was quite tasty but I like mine super hot out of the oven. My wife's was perfect. Cocktails were great. Definitely coming back. Great service. Relaxed atmosphere read more

Ordered Chile Relleno combo with steak taco, rice and beans. Everything was undercooked. Relleno chili was raw with breading, not deep fried. Taco was not crispy just mushy. Beans were watery, rice was bland. Prices are Aspen prices. They tore out the antique beautiful bar! NOT WORTH IT read more
